Chapter 14: Fang

Although Mason had already had one successful experience, there was still a problem with the surgery on Kite Man.

Mainly, Kite Man moved around during the surgery when the scalpel cut into his wound, which directly caused Mason's surgical knife to almost pierce his spine.

The spinal injury caused Kite Man to immediately fall into a coma and appear to be paralyzed in a high position. He didn't cause any trouble for Mason in the surgery.

The micro-bomb was extracted carefully and placed in the mouth of a zombie mouse brought by Kite Man.

Then Mason poured a whole bottle Skele-Gro into Kite Man's mouth to heal his spinal injury, which allowed him to wake up twenty minutes later.

"Do you know when to lure those crazy zombie beasts over, right?" asked Mason

"That's a good plan, but it's useless." Kite-Man looked at the key in his hand as he put on his silly green bodysuit and said

"Even if I lure the crazy beasts over, old K, with his teleportation skills, can easily dodge them. Maybe those beasts will eat you first."

"No, they won't! Trust me, as long as you lure the right beasts, I won't have any problems." Mason confidently said

"Old K has something that can make them go crazy, and the best part is that Old K himself doesn't know it yet. But you're right. To ensure everything goes smoothly, we must find something else before we reveal our hand. It should be near the Forbidden Forest. Are you well-rested? We should get going." Mason added

"At your service, boss." Kite-Man grinned, and it was obvious that being free had made this man in his thirties exceptionally joyful and excited. He put his parachute backpack back on and gestured to Mason before floating into the sky with the wind.

After packing everything up, Mason shrunk the birdcage containing Professor McGonagall and poured fuel onto the ground covered in blood and flesh.

He stepped out of the abandoned witch dormitory and fired a shot from his double-barreled handgun in that direction.

The flames lighted up and burned everything to ashes.

He didn't bother searching for any other lost treasures on this land. He followed the direction of the Kite Man through the chaotic ruins towards the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

On the other side, the K was walking out of a tall tower in ruins, still carrying a big bag of things in his hands. He frowned when he saw the flames in the distance.

The old hunter took out the golden bomb controller from his pocket and glanced at the three red dots on it, which relieved him slightly.

"They're both planning to betray you." Plastique said through gritted teeth behind K.

"I already figured that out according to your information. I even sacrificed my innocence for it," she continued.

"Are you sure you have that thing, Miss?" K's tone was sarcastic as he said, "You know, in my eyes, it's normal for people who have been forced to fight with bombs to have rebellious thoughts. And your sudden loyalty only makes me more uneasy."

"Don't try to please me; by the way, tighten your belt," he added. "Only when everyone knows what they should and shouldn't do can a team move forward smoothly in a dangerous place."

His voice annoyed Plastique, and she couldn't help but sarcastically retort, "If you really know so much, how did your previous team die? Sorry, I didn't mean it that way, I-"

"It's okay, I don't feel offended," Old K shrugged and glanced back at Bomb Girl. "That was indeed a tragedy, a tragedy that was expected. Sometimes I envy you, young people, with empty heads who can imagine the truth of the world carelessly in your minds. You can't see the intertwined sharp blades in the darkness nor know where your passion should be directed. Oh well, let's not talk about these things anymore. I should go and meet up with the team with hidden agendas. They're going in the right direction."

.....

"A strange little cabin and a farm lie ahead, just outside the Forbidden Forest. There's a path leading into the forest behind the cabin, but it's locked. I didn't want to force it open."

The Kite Man controlled his direction from above, then landed steadily a few steps away from Mason. He pushed up his golden and grey goggles to report to the new leader.

"Is that where we're finding what we're looking for?" Mason asked

"Yes, it's right there. I even saw the motorcycle." Kite man said

Outside Hagrid's cottage farm, Mason put down his binoculars. He had combat assistance that allowed him to snipe from a distance without the device, but the human vision had its limits. He used the binoculars as a makeshift telescope.

"A motorcycle?" Kite Man widened his eyes and said, "We came here risking getting chopped up by Old K just for a motorcycle? Are you crazy, Mason? Or are you actually a hardcore biker?"

"Everything you see here is not ordinary, Charles. After all, it's a wizard's collection."

Mason stood up, grabbed his gun and umbrella, and walked towards the farm ahead. He threw his backpack to Kite Man and made a gesture, saying.

"Go up in the air. Use these flying engineering bomb Spider-bot to support me with firepower when necessary. Be careful not to hit me."

"Roger that." Kite Man said, taking out five flying bombs from the backpack and letting them hover around him like a squadron of bombers before taking off again.

Mason kicked the gate to Hagrid's farm and walked in, alert but not triggering any battle warnings.

This made Mason breathe a sigh of relief, showing that Hagrid's "pets" were not here. He took out the key to the motorcycle from his pocket and walked to the shed next to the cottage. He pulled back the cover and saw the hidden motorcycle inside.

It was a classic Royal Enfield motorcycle in a post-World War II style, with a small yet sleek gray-blue finish. The bright front headlight looked like eyes, and the two old-fashioned rearview mirrors had none of the exaggerated design of a hippie motorcycle, like a gentleman walking out of history.

Simple but not ordinary.

Mason wasn't a motorcycle fan, but he did appreciate the vintage design of the bike in front of him. He reached out and placed his hand on the motorcycle's headlight, and information quickly popped up.

This mischievous item description made Mason smirk.

In fact, he always thought that these weird item descriptions were not from the system themselves and that maybe some powerful bad guys were secretly dubbing them.

But that didn't matter.

"Click"

Mason inserted the key to Hagrid's motorcycle, and with a light twist, a low engine sound started.

The display on the front of the motorcycle also lit up. As soon as Mason's fingers gripped the handlebars, a strong force was transmitted to his hands, causing him to involuntarily accelerate the motorcycle.

Along with the joy of receiving his new toy came a free gift of a message to "enter battle mode."

"!!!"

Mason's scalp tingled as he flipped over and rolled off the motorcycle, falling awkwardly to the ground.

Then a huge black shadow roared past where he had just been, smashing into a pillar and shattering it.

Mason grabbed his critical hit shotgun and climbed up while retreating, aiming at the attacking creature in front of him.

A dog.

A once gentle and adorable Neapolitan Mastiff.

But now it had grown two sizes larger than Professor McGonagall's Animagus form, becoming a 1.5-meter-tall bloodthirsty monster on all fours.

The twisted fangs sticking out from its crimson eyes and mouth revealed its danger. The dry blood and terrible wounds on its cracked skin didn't make it look weak and miserable; instead, they seemed to fuel an inexplicable rage of aggression.

The foul saliva dripped from the punctured gums of its teeth, and the low, withered moan sent shivers down Mason's spine.

This thing's weight and attack power couldn't compare to that of Professor McGonagall's cat. Mason was sure he'd be done today if hit by it.

"Fang?" Mason tried to call it by its name.

He recognized its identity from the collar tag on the leash that was strangling its neck. This was Hagrid's pet, the most harmless of all the pets.

But unfortunately, Mason's call received no response.

Perhaps this dog was once a shy and obedient house pet, but its zombification after death had turned it into one of the most dangerous zombies in this wasteland.

"Mason! Get down!" Kite-Man's shout came from above, and when Mason jumped backward, two engineering explosives flew down from the air and detonated near the attacking zombie dog.

The intense explosion startled the zombie dog.

But then it realized that this destruction was not enough to harm it, so it jumped towards Mason again.

"Vroom!"

Mason twisted the handlebars of the motorcycle, shifted gears, and with a loud bang, he shot out from under the jaws and claws of the zombie dog.

'This flying motorcycle was amazing.'

Even the lowest gear's speed was comparable to a sports car's acceleration. Mason shot out a hundred meters with the motorcycle in the blink of an eye.

Indeed, this was not something an ordinary person could play with. However, with this precious bike, Mason didn't have to worry about being bitten off by the zombie dog.

Therefore, while driving the motorcycle, Mason waved towards the sky, asking the Kite Man to quickly go up more. He still had Hagrid's gamekeeper key on him.

If the dog smelled the blood on Hagrid's key, the Kite Man would immediately become its first target.

"Where did that dog come from? And where did that motorcycle come from?" At the same time, Mason rushed out of the farm. K, who appeared calm, saw the big black dog chasing after Mason.

This thing made the old K's mouth curl into a hint of eagerness.

He glanced at Mason, riding the motorcycle, and then drew out his own melee sword and hunting knife, flashing as he charged up like he had seen his favorite prey.

Mason stopped in his tracks and turned to watch as Old K fought the battle, realizing that the old man was just pretending to be weak. Old K's fighting skills were terrifying.

Fang smelled the blood of Hagrid on the hunting knife in Old K's hand and almost instantly became enraged. But Old K, with his ghost-like fighting skills, only had four or five exchanges with Fang before inflicting several terrifying wounds on him.

He even used his hand crossbow to shoot and easily cut off the big dog's paw.

Seeing Old K's almost completely suppressed combat power, Mason gestured to Kite in the sky, demonstrating that he could take action. Kite did not hesitate and flew towards the direction of the Forbidden Forest.

He hoped to find fierce enough beasts in the Forbidden Forest to bring back to deal with Old K. Most importantly, the monsters in this forest had better be powerful. Otherwise, he and Mason would both be finished today.

"Ah!"

While Old K brutally attacked the zombie dog, Fang, Plastique also rushed over with a hand crossbow.

She glanced at Mason holding a gun and aiming at the brutal big dog at a medium distance.

The moment Old K withdrew, both Mason and Plastique attacked at the same time. The bullets accurately shot the zombie dog's neck, and the arrow flying past the dog's belly caused a violent explosion.

The attack caused the zombie dog to collapse on the ground, its teeth clattering as blood splattered everywhere. Old K did not move forward to finish it off. He simply watched the zombie dog, which had lost three claws and had its body blown apart, fall to the ground.

He seemed to prefer dogs than humans, and even a hint of pity flashed in his ruthless eyes.

"Not going to kill it?" Mason crouched, tied his shoelaces, and quietly half-buried two engineering bombs in the flattened tire tracks. He walked over with his gun and asked, "Old K, why don't you kill it?"

Old K sheathed his sword, took out his old tobacco pipe, and said casually, "It's already dead. Leave it here. It likes this place, and it belongs here. Dying at home is the best fate for a dog."

Mason felt that there was something more to Old K's words.

But in the next moment, Old Hunter's gaze fell on him.

Old K didn't try to hide anything. After lighting his pipe, he played with the golden bomb remote control in his hand. His eyes fixed on Mason through the acrid smoke.

There was a hint of coldness in his grey eyes.

"Tell me, Mason, what are you and Kite-Man planning? We can talk openly and honestly. You know I greatly value you, and I can even promise you some impolite requests. I really hope you can join my team."

The young man did not answer. He took out everything he had found in the ruins and threw it in front of Old K, even his sorting hat. This caught Old K's attention, and he reached out to pick it up, examining it carefully.

Indeed, he had an eye for valuable things.

Mason also noticed that Plastique had silently moved to the most suitable position for a backstab, and her hand crossbow was already loaded.

It was time for Showdown. The next move would determine whose fate was favored by destiny today.
