Chapter 147: Conquest II

A vortex appeared in the skies over the Indian Ocean, 2 kilometers above the coordinates 50.5914941° longitude and -21.1522111° latitude for twenty-three seconds, but nothing emerged from it.

Just a vortex.

Inside the office of the Planetary Defense Council's Strategic Intelligence Bureau, the metallic desk gleamed like a mirror, reflecting any object in its vicinity. The whole office exuded an extreme sense of rationality, cold as ice.

The secretary rushed to knock on the office door.

"Come in," said Thomas Veed, the director, in a rational tone as stable as a machine. He scanned data on the display screen without lifting his head.

"Director, the Ground Branch of the Planetary Defense Council's Strategic Intelligence Bureau in Madagascar received an image from 2 kilometers above the coordinates 50.5914941° longitude and -21.1522111° latitude in the Indian Ocean. They suspect a wormhole was generated and disappeared, and perhaps something has entered Earth."

The efficient and organized secretary provided the report and placed several printed images from different angles on Thomas Veed's metallic desk.

Thomas Veed's gaze shifted from the display screen, his eyes revealing a cold and ruthless emotion. He picked up the thick paper images, moving through them one by one.

After examining the pictures, he suddenly stood up. His spine was as straight as a pine tree, and he strode out of his office. He entered the crowded office of the Planetary Defense Council's Strategic Intelligence Bureau. Everyone fell silent as he did. Thomas Veed raised the images in his hand and said:

"Stop whatever you're doing right now and dedicate all your efforts to tracing the cause of this vortex. I want to know if anything has entered Earth through it!"

Thomas Veed slapped the images onto a table and turned to a slender woman holding files. She exuded a soft intellectual charm, with a somewhat classical face that, combined with her gentle eyes, could captivate any man and evoke goodwill from anyone who saw her.

"Sophia, temporarily set aside the Ladder Program and, with the same compassionate eyes you use for stray cats, find every minuscule change related to Earth caused by this vortex!"

...

Colonel Van-Zee led fifty thousand Kryptonian soldiers, who activated their stealth systems the moment they rushed into the vortex. Fifty thousand Kryptonians descended upon this Earth in the skies 2 kilometers above the Indian Ocean, exuding an aura of confidence.

However, it wasn't Colonel Van-Zee leading this expedition but General Son'el, who held the rank of Admiral. Colonel Van-Zee's primary role was to assist General Son'el in the simplest way possible: to conquer this Earth, subdue Earth's inhabitants who resembled Kryptonians, and undertake logistical activities tailored to Earth's nature.

"Admiral Son'el, fifty thousand Kryptonian soldiers and three thousand administrative personnel have assembled and activated their stealth systems," Colonel Van-Zee reported.

"Very good, await orders!"

"Brigadier Ayn, initiate the connection to Earth's network and gain control over it."

Under Admiral Son'el's command, a General-class cruiser named Brigadier Ayn transformed into a signal tower while remaining cloaked, beginning to establish a connection with Earth's network.

"Connecting..."

"Connecting..."

"Connected 10%..."

"Connected 50%..."

"Connection at 100%..."

"Connection established! Admiral Son'el, I now have control over the network. Should I initiate electronic information leaps for data movement and control over isolated local networks without internet access?"

"Proceed with control, mainly focusing on high-powered weapons, nuclear bombs, that could cause substantial damage to Earth. We need to harvest an intact Earth."

"Collect all data from Earth's national administrative centers, high-ranking officials, and their recent significant activities, and compile them for transmission to my consciousness."

"Yes, Admiral Son'el."

"...Transmission complete!"

"It appears we're fortunate to have arrived on a planet that lacks advanced technology," Admiral Son'el remarked as he received the network information collected by Brigadier Ayn. He couldn't help but express his satisfaction.

Compared to the Earth of the DC Universe, this Earth's scientific progress seemed entirely normal.

Unlike the DC Earth, where no matter how they used wave scans, quantum scans, or electronic information scans, there were always strange mysteries and phenomena referred to as "magic" in science.

Suddenly...

Another General-class cruiser, commanded by Brigadier Damon, issued an alert:

"Admiral Son'el, there are unidentified subatomic particles wandering around, engaging in communications, reconnaissance, and locking onto a target... Target locked. It's a rudimentary, two-dimensional proton modified into a supercomputer through circuit etching. I've promptly shielded it, and it hasn't detected us."

"Admiral Son'el, should we consider striking and eliminating it at the subatomic level?"

"Maintain observation, do not engage."

"There are other extraterrestrials attempting to occupy Earth as well, but they are too primitive, taking hundreds of years to travel just four light-years to reach Earth."

Admiral Son'el turned to glance at the orderly ranks of Kryptonian forces and began transmitting information about vital facilities, administrative centers, and high-ranking officials to the proton processing units within each Kryptonian soldier.

"Kryptonian soldiers, begin your deployment. Upon reaching your designated targets, await further orders."

"Admiral Son'el, shouldn't we swiftly conquer Earth through a high-level decapitation strategy?"

Colonel Van-Zee, not understanding, asked. He had undergone rigorous military training and witnessed the King's orders to obliterate a country in ten minutes, the simplest way to conquer a nation by killing all its top leaders, distributing benefits, and letting humans fight amongst themselves, with the conqueror ultimately leading them.

"Colonel Van-Zee, the future New Krypton will be a vast empire composed of many civilizations under the rule of our King. Unless necessary, we should refrain from annihilating in hatred. Let them bear goodwill toward New Krypton. In the future, some of them may become your subordinates, your vanguard, fighting for our King."

"I understand!" Colonel Van-Zee raised an eyebrow, now comprehending Admiral Son'el's intentions.

He silently made a mental note, absorbing this knowledge.

"All Kryptonian soldiers, disperse."

Admiral Son'el issued the order, and all soldiers, who had received the coordinates projected onto their retinas by the proton processing units within them, began to scatter, each heading toward their designated points.

"Three thousand administrative personnel, start establishing an administrative system based on Earth's data. Remember, this Earth, this universe, will serve as a logistics base in the future."

"Colonel Van-Zee, lead your elite squad, along with New Krypton's diplomat, Kristin, to the United Nations Headquarters. It's convenient since all Earth's nations are currently holding a meeting. Let them know they don't need to stand against the wall anymore; Earth has been conquered."

"Yes, Admiral Son'el."

Colonel Van-Zee accepted the order and led a hundred-person squad, along with the charming New Krypton diplomat, Kristin, on their way to announce their presence at the United Nations Headquarters.

AN: Next chapter will be the last of this world and we're the back to DC.

Side Note: This world is from the novel Three Body Problem. One of the best science fiction novel I've ever read.
