Batman POV ——

It was taking a while…

Jericho floated in the middle of the meeting room while in his meditative posture. His eyes glowed bright green and illuminated the entire meeting room.

We all observed in complete silence as the magician did what ever it was he was doing. Perhaps his connection to his patron deity would allow him some sort of protection against another deity. Although the rules of…..'gods' were foreign to me, it at least seemed that way.

More study would need to be done. ASAP.

Revelation of gods being able to manifest and influence on what he calls the 'mortal plane' is a damning thought. 'Why didn't Diana tell us of this?' I thought as I peered over to her. She payed no attention to me, carefully observing the magician.

She, a amazonian, a race created by the greek gods to 'guard' and 'lead' humans to bettering ourselves, and she doesn't know more on them? It didn't add up.

I was broken out of my thoughts by the green light suddenly disappearing. "Hecate. It's Hecate behind the Enchantress." Jericho spoke for the first time in 8 hours.

He descended carefully and popped up on his feet before walking to Diana. "I guess, now its your turn to show your expertise."

———

"Hecate is not to be trifled with! Did you-"

Before the Amazon could finish "Lets see, I informed her she was banned from the mortal plane and using her avatar and then we did a little battle…nothing serious." Jericho sauntered to a seat.

Surprise was evident on her face. "And she let you live?"

"'Let?'…..yeah, I guess she did. While the Baron is extremely powerful, we were in her element, in her personal dimension. Why she didn't instantly strike me down when I was unprotected, I dont know."

"Then why did you go unprotected?" Arrow asked the man, confused on his logic.

"Cause I know the Baron got my back."

"Sounds like a crutch. To always rely on an outside source to save you if things get hairy? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen." Canary spoke up.

"It would be…if I relied on him all the time. He didn't pick me as a avatar out of the kindness of his heart. He picked me because of my power, the greatest voodoo practitioner in history." He spoke with conviction at the woman.

It was a few minutes of silence before someone spoke again. "Soooo…..-" Flash awkwardly rocked back and forth. "-about Hecate?"

"To my knowledge, Hecate is a mostly obscure figure in Greek mythology." Batman, without most people noticing, had somehow made his way to a computer. "Sometimes a Goddess, sometimes a Titaness."

"A goddess." Diana corrected as she finally snapped out of her haze of surprise. "The Enchantress must've done something incredibly heinous to get the attention of the foul magic of Hecate."

It took only a nanosecond to figure out for the man of steel. "The teeth. Remember?" He asked the group.

Batman's eyes widen beneath his cowl.

"The children's teeth…" Cyborg muttered to himself in horror. Jericho had his interest piqued and wanted to inquire about the children's teeth but he could already guess what that meant, plus the mood had dropped unbelievably.

Faces of shock, horror, anger, sadness and a slew of other emotions shined on their faces as they pictured what had happened to innocent children.

??? POV

My name is Papa Legba. And I have looked into the future.

Well…the future looked back at me and told me to mind my own damn business.

But I saw enough…enough to know that that dumbass boy is volunteering to march his behind into a time of terrible danger.

A time where the humans will encounter wickedness. Great wickedness. Beyond this plane, planet and dimension, it'll come from all directions.

'But what of innocence?' I fear the future will be no place for the innocent. They will wonder if they have escaped madness or walked right into it.

But the cards have been dealt. The 'Madman' has been called. For there is another more mad, one who has taken herself to a lonely place.

This is where the broken witch has made her sanctuary. A simple crypt. 'Stupse!' Did she not realize the boy is the new guardian of cemeteries?

I shook that out. My gaze leveled to the tarot cards. 'The Fool.' It represents new beginnings, having faith in the future, being inexperienced, not knowing what to expect, having beginner's luck, improvisation and believing in the universe.

But with this Stupse I could only think of the human girl under its control. I reversed the card to reveal what I knew I would see.

'Chaos, Folly, Lack of direction, Naivety, Poor judgement, Stupidity.'

June Moone. Your naivety and lack of direction make you an annoying object in Drumm's path and this will only increase your folly and cause many bad decisions that will ultimately lead to chaos.

I don't envy you. For the Black Priest will eradicate you if you even think of making his job harder than it has to be.

But I guess thats why the boss likes him. Guess thats why I like him too.

'Hmph. Good luck, gurl.'
