Chapter 77: Paradise Island

"I see..."

Kara said, shifting her gaze from my face to her ice cream.

"You're a billionaire, so why do you... well, do what you do?"

"Hmm, because I want to, and I can. There are not only good beings in the world, there are also those who wouldn't mind taking over the Earth."

I pointed to the sky.

"And there are plenty of villains on the planet itself. I want to protect the planet and my loved ones."

"Why wasn't there someone like you on Krypton..."

Kara said it with noticeable sadness.

"And what can you do besides magic?"

Kara's curiosity was sparked.

"I can hit hard and painfully."

 I smirked at her.

"I'm not entirely human myself, and physiology is much denser than regular humans."

I said I was not really hiding it.

"You hid your face when my cousin showed up last time. Why?"

"Because it's one thing to gain the trust of a pretty girl. Besides, as far as I know, you have more... blurred views on justice."

"Justice? What are you talking about?"

Kara didn't understand, but she liked the part about "pretty."

"I have a... let's say, an acquaintance in Gotham. He firmly believes that it's better to put behind bars someone who killed hundreds, and even if they escape again and kill thousands more, then catch them again and put him behind bars that just end the bastards."

I smirked crookedly.

"We were taught to act tougher with criminals. My father and mother are scientists from the Kryptonian Science Guild... my mother is a very passionate supporter of our people and culture in general. Hmmm."

Kara's eyes filled with tears, and she turned away from me.

"I wonder what they would do in my place? They would probably find a way to find survivors... if there are any."

"Kara, do you know that your people are very distant relatives of the Atlanteans?"

 I asked her.

"Over a hundred thousand years ago, Atlantis united science and magic and sent ships to other planets for colonization. One of such planets became Krypton, so it's also your home, just like mine."

I tried to reassure her, and she even turned to me in surprise.

"Seriously? This... this can't be..."

"Oh, it very well can be. Why do you think you resemble humans so much as well as your people in general? The difference is only that your bodies and your genes adapted to the atmosphere of Krypton, which made you stronger, more enduring, and more agile. You've become who you are with the ability to store energy from the yellow star."

I pointed to the sun.

"Well, and I forgot about your roots, or it was simply classified."

"..."

Kara stared at me intensely, making me a little uncomfortable, but then she looked down.

"There are robbers who hijacked an armored car."

"Do you want to deal with it?"

I asked when I noticed what was happening too. After all, my vision had also become much better.

"... I'll be there faster."

Kara smiled slightly and at an enormous speed, immediately breaking the sound barrier.

I could be faster than others especially with teleportation.

She saw me standing on the roof of a building as soon as she flew into the city.

"That's not fair!"

Kara exclaimed childishly.

"Hey, you're tremendously powerful and quick, and I didn't want to humiliate myself in front of the lady."

 I chuckled.

"Care to show what you can do?"

I hinted at the robbers.

"Sure thing,"

Kara flew to the armored car and hovered right in front of the robber's window.

The robber pulled out a gun and fired a couple of shots at her head, but it was futile even if the bullet hit her in the eye.

After saving the plane, she made it into the news, and many were talking about her even in Gotham.

After all, Superman didn't have the friendliest relationship with the army, so the emergence of a new superhuman with that power caused a stir.

"Stop the car!"

Kara yelled while crossing her arms under her chest and trying to show her determination.

"Screw you, bitch!"

The sweating robber said this and abruptly turned left apparently trying to avoid her.

He hit a truck with the maneuver, and the truck took a small detour and was about to hit a traffic light next to people walking.

Kara saw all this and had to decide what to do... and she chose to help the people.

She suddenly found herself in front of the truck and stopped it while trying not to crush it too much.

The robbers may have thought they had won, but this isn't a movie where they just vanish from the crime scene and are never seen again.

In addition, Kara has X-ray vision, and it only took her five seconds to get back to the armed car.

"You're not going anywhere."

Kara put her hand on the hood and started to slow down the car.

She didn't do it all at once, but just enough for some of the robbers in the cargo area to hit the walls of the cargo area.

"Shoot this bitch! Maybe she's not as tough as the other one!"

One of the robbers said who emerged from the passenger seat with a shotgun.

He managed to make a shot, but then he noticed that the weapon wasn't firing... because the barrel was twisted.

"What the hell..."

"Sleep."

I said that and put them all to sleep.

"You did well, but you could have caused less damage to city property."

"Um, I'm new to this."

Kara smiled.

"But did I do better than Kal-El?"

"Kal-El, that's your cousin's Kryptonian name, right?"

I asked as I flew higher to avoid being captured in such bright light.

I don't try to hide from everyone as much now that I'm not so weak. Furthermore, we were already captured together when I landed below.

"Yes... and I'm Kara Zor-El. But here I'm just Kara..."

Kara said sadly towards the end.

"For a beginner, you did well... Your cousin couldn't even fly at the beginning of his heroic career. He jumped hundreds of meters and ran away from the army like that."

I chuckled.

"Yeah... I remember."

Kara smiled, visibly lifting her spirits.

"I was watching the news about him. At first, I felt... out of place here on Earth."

Kara said, finding the right words.

"I even thought about flying back to my planet, but my cousin managed to talk me out of it... I mean, I don't even know where to fly."

"You know, if you ever feel bored and want to talk to someone, you can find me. I'm often in the office in the main LuthorCorp building."

I told her.

"I'll remember that."

Kara smiled slightly at what seemed like a simple offer at first.

However, I could just guess how she felt when she was alone in a familiar and strange world while having been through something similar...

Later that evening, I decided to spin the Gacha. After all, I already had enough points.

Although I still had some interesting unused items in my inventory:

Teleport of Destiny (A)

Depiction of Nature and Society (S)

Summoning Technique (B)

I think the first item will send me to my destiny within the planet. Whatever that means, I'll use it soon.

I need the Depiction of Nature and Society to capture two gods from the RWBY worlds and the last one... somehow I haven't found time for it yet.

Gacha Points: 64

I have sixty-four Gacha Points, but I can buy an additional hundred since it's a new month, and now it costs not five dollars per point but twenty.

I bought them for two thousand dollars, which is pretty much nothing for me.

After that, I have the opportunity to spin the Gacha three times in a row, ten in each attempt.

357 Magnum (E)

Rose seeds (E)

Mouse pad (E)

Magic Carpet (C)

Road roller (D)

Staff of Asclepius (C)

Book of Zeref (A) (Fairy Tale)

Amon's Royal Sword (B) (Magi)

Alduin's Scale (S) (The Elder Scrolls)

Ant (E)

"It looks like I'm really lucky with books..."

I pulled out a card from my inventory a dark book was visible, and then a real book was in my hands.

It emanated dark magic, but this is not surprising since it's Zeref's creation.

Amon's Sword is not very useful because this version is quite weak, and my own sword is much better.

Alduin's Scale... there's not much of it, but even so, it's part of a god-like dragon capable of devouring the world and it might be useful.

The other two spins were unsuccessful. There was only one somewhat interesting item was the Stats Boost Card (B)

[Stats Boost Card (B): This card increases one of the following attributes by three points: Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Willpower.]

What exactly these "three points" mean is unknown, but I decided to use them immediately and increase my Willpower.

"Hmm, I don't feel any changes."

I murmured, and my magic still felt like one of my other abilities.

The opening of the reactor and its good operation over the next couple of days showed the mayor of the city everything he needed.

Therefore, the city will slowly be connected to the arc reactor instead of using local power plants, that emit sulfur oxides, nitrogen, ash dust, and other not very useful substances into the atmosphere.

I left the Book of Zeref for later. I still haven't finished the last ones, but it's clearly not as useful as the Book of Thoth or the Bible.

I trained in the Battle Arena to face opponents of the same level as me and sometimes opponents who were better than me.

This helped me with my assimilation with Bang.

After a couple of days, I finally decided to use the Teleport of Destiny (A).

I prepared a portal based on the magic of the DxD world, and even divine magic shouldn't delay me.

Shinoa continued to "mess around" and learn in Gotham during this time.

I saw Kara in the sky a few times, but she never dared to come to me herself.

Erina is still at her camp but will be back soon, and then we'll go to her world.

Nevertheless, I could learn a lot from her food as it's quite impressive.

"Cortana, can you sense the beacon on me through the satellite?"

I asked her one last time.

Cortana was physically in Lena's office, helping her with documents.

However, since she still had the advantage of being an AI, she could assist me at the same time.

She was now tracking me through the beacon I had activated.

"Yes, loud and clear."

Cortana's voice echoed.

"Good then."

I nodded and activated the Teleport of Destiny (A).

There was silence for a moment, and the scene in front of me suddenly changed.

I had been standing in front of the monitors, but now I was in a damp and steamy room.

"Sister?"

A female voice sounded behind me.

When I turned around, I saw a beautiful brunette with blue eyes ... naked, apparently washing herself in what looked like a bathhouse.

"Um, would you believe me if I said I accidentally ended up here using a magical teleportation artifact?"

I asked her.

"You're not one of my sisters..."

The beautiful stranger furrowed her brow slightly... but I have my suspicions about who she is.

What kind of trick is this from Gacha?

Maybe my destiny is the Mother Box on this island... I hope so.

"That's a pretty accurate statement."

I nodded.

"Well, I'll leave then and enjoy your wash, and sorry for such an unexpected appearance..."

"Wait!"

I heard before I teleported higher up, and this was Themyscira. I was on the island of the Amazons.

"My destiny, huh?"

I smirked while hovering above the island.

It was quite big, and thousands of warrior women lived there who probably couldn't stand seeing men.

After all, they often suffered because of male gods like Hercules or Ares.

The books by Arion mentioned the gods and where they drew their powers from the Sphere of the Gods, but there wasn't much said about the Olympians themselves.

The information in Zatanna's library was more extensive, and it was enough for me to understand that it wasn't worth meddling with them just yet.

It's possible that I won't lose completely anymore and that I could give them a good fight with all my powers, but there's no reason to take a risk and overcome obstacles for no reason.
