"This is the day you'll all be set free!" An ugly-looking man who should be in his late fifties shouted. His voice was the same as the man who was talking to Moroboshi; he started it. And I'm going to kill him first.
He is the same person who has gone on and on about us saving the world, that we are chosen; he was just trying to motivate children whose spirits are already broken. If he wanted to be a hero, why didn't he do it to himself instead of dragging along a bunch of kids who don't care?
He was standing on a platform that was about forty meters high, perfect for someone to die falling from.
And Moroboshi was beside him the whole time.
"Today, you'll be set free to make the world better with your new supernatural powers. The supernaturals placed themselves above us and ruled over us because they thought we were weak. This proves that we are strong; you are the proof. But since they are trying to stop us from doing what is right, we have no choice but to fight. But we have one problem, because they made our way of fighting back illegal, so we have limited resources, which can only work out for twenty people."
Kenji raised his hand and waved it, indicating that he wanted to ask a question. He stood up and asked, "What do you mean by limited resources for only twenty people? What about the rest of us?"
The old fool smiled boldly, "I'm saying you should reduce your number; the last twenty people get to go to the world and live like citizens, and I'll take care of them as long as they obey my every order."
All of us paused; we were still processing what we just heard.
"Reduce our number?" Someone said.
"What does he mean by that?" Another person was added.
Suddenly, a boy rushed to a girl and punched her. She fell to the ground, and she sat on her, punching her and scattering her face. There were blood stains all over him.
Another boy held him, trying to stop him.
"What the hell are you doing?. Stop!!!"
"Don't you get it?" The boy who wanted to kill the girl said, "He wants us to kill each other. Why aren't they saying anything? Because that's exactly what they want us to do."
Kenji turned to the man. There was hatred in his eyes, even more than I felt.
"Wait, you are..... you're.... not....saying....we sho..."
"Yes!!, yes!!!!, I want you to commit suicide, die until there are only twenty of you left, and then maybe you'll be set free!!!" He was shouting while laughing.
Everyone was taken aback, including myself, who had not anticipated this outcome. "And if you don't want to fight, we just have to kill you right here," he said, smiling widely.
Slowly, some of us started attacking each other. I stood there, watching them motionlessly as blood splashed on me. The white shirt and the black shorts I was wearing were stained with blood.
I can't kill anyone; should I just have to wait for someone to kill me instead?. No, they are the ones who caused this; we should be trying to kill them instead. So why? Why are we fighting ourselves?
A boy to me, his body was stained with blood, and he was holding a bone that he must have ripped out of some kids. He was looking at me with distrustful eyes, like I'm the one holding him hostage.
"You, it's all your fault," he said angrily, burning up like someone that is going to pop anytime soon. "It's all because of you. DIE!!!!!"
He yelled, charging towards me with full speed. He was about to stab me when Megumin held his hand and threw him to another person who was fighting.
"Kakashi, what are you doing?" She asked, surprised.
"I don't want to kill because someone says we should," I said, staring at nothing. "I don't have the right to take someone's life."
"So does that mean you're going to stay here until someone else kills you? Don't you want to see her??" She asked, and I didn't reply.
She reached out to my pocket and brought out the photo that my mom gave me before she was killed.
"Don't you want to see Tokah??" She shouted, showing me the photo right on my face. I was getting a look at it when another person attacked us, and Megumin took care of her.
I could tell that she cared about me. I mean, not that I didn't expect it, but she shouldn't go to this length because of me.
According to what she told me, as her mother died during her birth and her dad always blames her for it, she was later sold out to these people, and that is how she has been living in the lab for the last nine years.
"What do you suggest we do?" I asked after coming back from my deep thoughts.
"TThe only way we'll be able to get out of here is if we kill him," she said, pointing at the man who created all this mess. "Do you want to still go on with the plan?"
"Of course, I want to kill him," I admitted, smiling to myself.
"You remember the plan, right?"
"Sure, I'm ready"
"Okay, you wait there while I get Kenji and say....." I heard a loud gunshot, and everyone stopped.
Megumin fell down with her head bleeding. She has just been shot in the head. I kneeled down beside her and held her in my arms.
"Megumin?!!!!!, Please answer me!!, Megumin??!!!!" I looked at the man; he was laughing, enjoying every moment of it.
"Didn't you hear what I said? I said if you don't fight, we'll kill you where you stand," he laughed. "Now look what you have made me do."
Saito angrily used his ability as he stretched his body and held his leg, pulling the man from the platform on which he was standing.
Before he could reach the floor, Kenji used his slash technique, which allowed him to cut his target into pieces.
After that, everyone stopped. I looked up at Moroboshi.
"YOU'RE NEXT. YOU HEAR ME MOROBOSHI, I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!!!" I could clearly see the fear in his eyes. He was trembling, sweating profusely.
"Kill them!!!" He yelled desperately.
The guards were confused.
"But, what about..." One of the guards said,.
"I said kill them!!!. Kill every one of them!!" He yelled before running to the back.
"JUST KEEP RUNNING!!!. You hear me, keep running!" I yelled behind him.
The guards loaded their guns and started shooting everyone, killing everybody.
I looked around; everyone was being killed. I held my head. I'm slowly going crazy. I can't take it anymore. It's my fault; it's all my fault.
It's still happening. We kill others trying to save ourselves but instead end up creating more problems for ourselves. We killed him to save ourselves but end up causing everyone death. I wish I just let myself get killed. At least I know that I was able to save twenty people.
"Kakashi, don't blame yourself. What we did wasn't right; I know that. But I can't say it's wrong anyway." Kenji said this and pointed at the wall on the right. "Go, there is an exit there; just break that wall."
"What about you, Kenji? What will you do?" I asked. My body was shaking as a bullet bruised my left hand. I held it as I groaned in pain with Megumin still on my lap. "Why don't you come? Let's go together."
"No, take Megumin. She is low on karma, so she can't heal quickly, and at this rate, she might die." Kenji warned me, and he kneeled down beside me and gave Megumin some of his karma.
"Why did you do that?" I asked in shock.
"I can't survive, not with this injury." Kenji moved his hand a little from his abdomen, and blood rushed out. "But at least, I'll be able to save you."
"But, why would you do such a thing?"
"You remember my other self that I told you about, right?,"
"Yes, what about him?"
"I want you to find the Kenji clan. And I want you to be his elder brother; I want you to advise him just the same way I did to you. I believe in you; I know you won't let our deaths go to waste." Kenji said his final words before using his body as a shield for us.
He got shot multiple times, but he was still protecting us, like he was our big brother. He kept on saying something that I couldn't hear clearly, but I remember the last part. "Run!!"
I stood up, holding Megumin in my hands, and dashed to the wall. Kenji, your sacrifice won't be in vain.
I carried Megumin on my arm as I ran to the end of the hall; all this time, Saito was blocking the bullet while I ran. I reached the wall; it was hallowed inside, so I kicked it down and looked inside. It was a vent leading outside, so I threw Megumin into it and ran back to get Kenji. Saito was able to carry him, but a demon jumped in between us.
I froze, and the demon ran to me, smiling stupidly; it was like he was going to hug me.
"Kakashi, run!!" Saito said, and the demon took his hand and pulled him back. The demon quickly turned around, held Saito's head, and smashed it into the ground. The demon turned to me; he was wearing a wicked smile. I recognize him now; he was the man who claims to be my uncle.
He ran to me, trying to touch my face, before Saito jumped in. The demon touched Saito's face.
Saito slowly turned, facing me.
"Kakashi, I can't feel my face," Saito said, his face slowly swelling up. "It feels like it's going to explode."
The right part of his face blew up, revealing his brain. Saito fell down right in front of me.
I got so angry that I didn't know what exactly happened. But when I closed my eyes and opened them, the whole place was destroyed.
