Chapter 187: Street Lights and Gods (Part 2)_1

"Oh my God, you've finally come." Natasha walks out of the room with a particularly bad expression, one that you rarely see on the face of this female agent — a mix of irritability and helplessness.

"Oh, Captain Steve, what are you doing here? Didn't I only call for a psychiatrist?" As Natasha closes the door, she turns around to find the towering Steve who replies rather sheepishly, "Actually, the psychiatrist didn't come, only I did."

"Just you? So how do you plan to deal with that psychotic? Don't blame me for not warning you, he is seriously ill." Natasha looks visibly upset as she rants, "Such a dumb chauvinist. He asserts that I am not strong enough??? Wants me to bring a strong warrior to converse with him???"

"Haven't you shown him the might of the Black Widow?"

"You'll see once you go in." Natasha glances back at the door before adding, "But I should warn you, try not to quarrel with him. Nick just called me, mentioning he is very important and he hopes that the agent can communicate rationally with him."

"Rest easy." Steve pushes the door open, glances back and smiles at Natasha, "I'm not the aggressive type."

As soon as he steps in, he sees an extremely tall blond man retching against the wall. Obviously, the angry Black Widow hit him with some anti-wolf spray.

Steve clicks his tongue in sympathy. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s anti-wolf spray is no ordinary small-power market product. Whoever gets hit by it with functioning nostrils will feel rather nauseous.

He touches the earpiece in his ear before greeting the towering man, "Hello."

Upon hearing him, the man stops retching and turns around. He pushes his golden long hair behind his ear and looks up and down at Steve. Then in a buzzing tone, he says, "This one isn't bad, worth a fight."

"Human! Announce your name! I am Thor Odinson from Asgard!"

His voice is very loud, causing Steve to feel a bit of a headache. Still, he smiles politely and introduces himself, "My name is Steve. Steve Rogers."

Thor walks over and grabs the railings in the middle of the room, complaining, "The woman just now was dreadfully weak, and she even dared to call me a patient!"

He shakes the railings, demanding, "Let me out, human! This is disrespect to the future ruler of the Nine Major Kingdoms!"

"Let's not talk about that for now." Steve too looks Thor up and down before suggesting, "Would you like to change your clothes?"

Thor is dressed in medieval armor, complete with a helmet. But due to what presumably was a face-first fall, the helmet is significantly deformed. The armor is also shattered in places. The lining of the armor has turned into tattered cloth strips, smeared with patches of mud. Even if you were a soldier returning from a medieval battlefield, you probably wouldn't be in such a dire state.

Thor scoffs, "Heroes of the battlefield do not care about their appearance, they only converse with the enemy's heads!"

Steve, however, doesn't quite understand this as Thor's English is filled with an Old English accent interspersed with made-up words from unfamiliar origins. It sounds like a phonetic transcription of another language. Steve only slept for a few decades, not a few thousand years. These outdated accents can be quite challenging to comprehend.

"Okay, can you tell me how you got here?" Steve extends his hand and explains, "You suddenly descended from the sky, destroyed quite a few houses, your weapon is still occupying someone's yard, and more importantly, due to your fall, thirteen people are still in the hospital."

Thor waves his hand impatiently, "That's because you humans are overly frail, not warriors at all. You lack the belief to risk it all. In Asgard, you either die or get up and continue fighting..."

Even if Steve only understood half of what Thor said, his face still darkens. Captain America is usually easy-going, not easily angered, but Thor has quite clearly trampled all over his boundaries.

He unlocks the gate separating the room and walks in. Although he isn't as tall or robust as Thor, they both share a similar aura. Thor seems to recognize this as he starts, "From the looks of it, you are a warrior and quite heroic one amongst humans."

Just when Steve's face starts to relax a bit, Thor continues, "But that's still meaningless. A long time ago when I first came here, I realized you only turn your butchery onto your own people. That is disgraceful in Asgard. Your war records aren't worth boasting."

Steve inhales deeply and presses his earpiece, "Doctor Shiller, can we start the diagnosis now? If it's delayed any further, I might not resist the urge to punch him."

Shiller's voice comes through the earpiece, "I'm afraid you'll have to bear with it a little longer. His information is valuable."

Thor crosses his arms and stands in the middle of the room, eyeing Steve, "What are you muttering about? Quit these petty tricks! They are useless on the warriors of Asgard!"

With Thor's loud voice causing Steve a bit of tinnitus, he still sticks to the prepared questions, "The hammer located about seven kilometers from here, is that your weapon?"
