"Help me check the results of past dark beast tides in the subterranean city!"
Wade whispered into Freya's ears.
"I got it!" Freya grabbed Wade's head with both hands, "Anything else you want to be enquired?"
"No, just this!"
...
It was the morning of the second day after he had walked out from Freya's room. Wade felt extremely refreshed and full of vigour.
After a while, Wade went for a shower and then headed towards the dining hall to meet Sam.
Sam happened to be drinking a kind of juice cocktail. Red-coloured juice was still there in the cup while he was still enjoying his breakfast.
It seemed like he was waiting for him for quite some time, at this time he turned his head towards the entrance to notice Wade entering.
"You're finally here! Is something the matter? You suddenly messaged me yesterday to meet you urgently?"
Sam asked as this was the first time that Wade had said that he wanted to talk to him about an urgent matter.
"Yes, you said before that you had been to the subterranean world for some of your missions right?!" Wade asked.
"Yes, those were all missions which could be rated as dangerous, any wrong move on our hunt and we would be dead, but why are you asking" suddenly his eyes widened.
"You..you.. are not thinking of accepting such missions right, they are too dangerous. Even I had only taken them when I had reached Rank 3 and had two to three friends at the same Rank for support." Sam said.
"I am not taking those missions by myself. My mentor has recommended me for the Guard team of the subterranean city and it was approved.
I will be leaving tomorrow for the city on the ship, so I would like to get all the knowledge you could provide me that would help me" Wade asked.
Sam was petrified, he had only been to the subterranean world twice and both times he had seen the city guards. They were the elites, every matter in the city was taken care by them.
They were the cream of the crop and many of the apprentices there wish to be in that position. Many had even requested their families or mentor's to use their connections to help them get in because this could shorten the time required to break through into the Sage rank for them but it all was fruitless.
The Guard team was a group that directly takes command from the dean of the black Academy, meaning if one wanted to get in they had to ask the dean directly.
It could only be done by the patriarch's of the Sage families, but would they use an opportunity to meet and request something from the dean for just an entry into the Guard team.
If it was a Sage family that was in decline and the apprentice was the final hope for that family than they might, but then comes the question.
How will the family even get the chance to request the dean when they don't have the resources to help the young generation advance.
There was another method to get into the Guard team, which was to complete the entry mission posted in front of the Guardhouse.
Most of the times the mission was to defeat a beast or a dark creature at the Rank 5 apprentice-level alone.
The person taking on the mission would have to record the whole fight and once they have submitted it to the authorities they will verify whether the recording is true or not.
So, hearing that his mentor had helped him to enter the Guard team had simply blown all the fuses of Sam's brains.
He had always thought that with Wade's thinking process and rational behaviour he would someday in the future be able to see him at the same rank as him, but this was all in the next 6 to 7 years as one has to know that once an apprentice enters the 4th Rank it would take around 10 years before they are even able to think about breaking through.
Now that Wade was about to enter the Guard team the time he would take to enter the 3rd Rank was just around the corner.
As for the 4th rank, maybe two years would be enough if he can utilize all the benefits brought by him becoming the part of the Guard team.
As for the 5th Rank, even he was not sure how long it would take him to even reach that stage.
He could hardly imagine how much time Wade would need but what he was sure about that if Wade was able to use all the opportunities properly than he would at most take 10 years to become a Sage.
Thinking about this he couldn't help but lament internally as he had not thought that the one he would ever consider entering the Sage Rank would be Wade, but the opportunity he had got was something that not even the Grade 5 apprentices are given.
"I don't have any problem telling you everything I know as you will learn all this once you reach the subterranean world, but I do have a request," Sam said.
"Tell me, as long as it is within my limits I will try to fulfil it" Wade replied.
"It's nothing as major as you might think, I just hope that when the next time I come in the subterranean city you could sell me the necessary potions a little cheap.
I am not saying it should be around what they are selling on the surface but still a little bit of discount would be much appreciated!" Sam said.
