Library of Mages (3)

"Ike?" I asked.

"Ike." 27 said.

I looked back at Ike, laying flat on the ground. He was still a beginner, but his strength, in reality, was higher than Marcus I met in the hunting grounds. The disparity between the best University in the country and other Universities was huge, and the S Class made it even bigger.

"This will be the most basic team composition, Tank, Mid-range and Long-range. Ike will be your tank, you Dominque will act as Mid-range, attacking from behind Ike and Protecting your Long-range, Emily. Sounds good?"

"I don't mind. If that's all can I ask you a question?"

"Sure. With that taken care of, Class dismissed! Ask away."

"I want to get into the Library of Mages. Where can I find it?" The moment words 'Library of Mages' fell, 27 tensed up.

He looked at his watch and blurted out. " Look at the time, I have a meeting! Well then, see you later!" With a flash of white light, he disappeared. What was that about? The principal also had a weird reaction but not to the extent of running away!

Knowing that something was not right, was better than not knowing anything. For now, I can tell for sure that the Library is real and that the staff knows of its existence, but they don't want to give any details about it.

"Dominique, should we go help up Ike?" Emily said.

"Yup!"

Since Ike was out cold, I carried him out and let him sit in a corridor for a bit, before getting some water for him. When he woke up, at first, he was a little surprised, but after talking with us for a while, he accepted the fact.

Before joining us, he was in a team with one Long-range, one Mid-range, and two tanks. As there was no need for two tanks, he could've been easily moved. The only downside is the time invested into getting to know each other so they could work well together.

"So Ike, what's up with 27? Why 27?"

"No one knows. They tried asking him a few times, but each time he gave a different story. Supposedly a few years ago someone broke into the principal's office and tried looking at his file, hoping to find his real name."

"And?"

"In all of them, it said 27! Then he was caught and put on detention for 3 weeks."

"Only 3 weeks of detention for breaking into Principals office? That's not a lot." If it was me, I would've expelled him or at least put some harsher punishment.

"You just don't know what detention looks like here… Look I have a class on spearmanship soon, we should meet after classes, do some training, get to know each other's abilities. Around seven, here, does it sound good?"

"Sure, just one question. Have you heard of the Library of Mages?"

"No, what is it?"

"Nothing. We will see you at seven."

After Ike left, Emily and I went to the reception and got the list of classes. Sitting on a bench, we looked at the list of many different classes and marked the ones that sounded interesting.

"You asked about the Library, and we got nothing. What should we do now then?"

"S-Search the buildings?" I said. My voice cracked as I knew how huge the campus was.

"… Since your idea didn't help us at all. It's my turn now."

"What do you have in mind?"

"I will tell you when I succeed."

"… Sure. What advice did 27 give you? You heard what he told me, it was nothing substantial."

"He said, and I quote, 'Work hard, and you will be fine.' Nothing I wouldn't know."

At least I know that 27 doesn't give good advice. I kept looking at the different subjects, form which I had to choose six. But after some consideration, I decided to only attend three for now. I would focus on three subjects for two years, after passing them, two more years with another three subjects.

The first one I marked was swordsmanship, hand to hand combat was my forte, but knowing how to fight with weapons was always good to know.

Anatomy, the second subject I chose. Monsters have different builds, and weak point, some with extremely twisted figures make it hard to locate the brain or the heart. Anatomy focus on teaching how to recognize monsters' weak points.

Lastly, I decided on Seals! An extremely complicated subject, which I know I can study, but actually making seals… I can't be sure. Darkness is the most suitable element for making seals, but other elements are still capable of making some basic seals.

I will have to wait and see how it will go.

"There is a swordsmanship class in twenty minutes. Let me know when your idea works out, I will see you at 7." I said.

"Sure!"

It took me a while to find the right building and the right classroom, and thus I was late a few minutes. From the outside, I could hear the sound of wooden swords swinging and people shouting. When I opened the door, I saw a hall filled with people training with their swords, there were fifty or sixty people.

The teacher stood watching the students swing their swords. I approached her and introduced myself. Slight surprised that I was from the S Class, she got me a wooden sword and told me to join others.

Following their movements, I quickly got the hang of the routine. I could see this routine working in a fight, these movements are easy to execute, with their damage output massive. Working in most of the situations, they are versatile, but I could decide the most effective movements and attack while fighting.

"You are doing well Dominque! But what a surprise, I can't believe you are here.
