Chapter 127

I yanked my leg out and spun around to see who dared to grasp my leg from below. I looked at an old frail hand which was graying and had veins popping out. The body where the hand was connected to was lying face down. Haktor leaned down and flipped the body. There was only one thing I could say about it.

Dead.

The one I am looking at reminds me of those zombies from a movie I watched back on Earth. It was grayish, gory, blood mixed with green goo was coming out of its body. Its eyes were all white and its slightly open mouth was dry and trembling.

"What the?" I stared at it indifferently but inside, I was absolutely scared. I am not one for horror movies so after watching the zombie movie, I had a hard time sleeping.

"Those are one of Karciel's guards, my lady. They took some kind of pill called Strengthening pill. The pill enhanced their powers and physical strength, but the aftereffects were not as good as they thought." Haktor explained with a serious look.

"Where did they get those pills?" I asked as I stared at the old man on the floor.

"No idea, my lady." Haktor shook his head.

"I bet it was from Dusk." Miss Bloom said. "He likes to bring Karciel things from their master but most of those are worthless or partially ineffective."

"Interesting." I nodded thoughtfully. "Pass on my orders, if there are any guards here alive, bring them back and put them in the dungeon. Also, check everyone and everywhere for those pills and give them to Elaheh for examining."

"Yes, eldest lady." Haktor bowed and went to pass the orders to the other knights.

Some of the knights started to check for living ones and dragging them to the side while others checked the bodies and the room for the pills.

"My lady, I would like to go to the bedroom and the office." Miss Bloom faced me. "There might be some pills there or some other important clues about the origin of the pills."

"Okay." I gave her my permission.

"Sebastiene, bring some knights to go together with Miss Bloom and protect her." I ordered to the demon smiling behind me.

"As you wish, my lady." Sebastiene bowed respectfully and escorted Miss Bloom out with some knights that he chose on the way. He was being extra attentive to Miss Bloom who smiled at him seductively.

'Are those two in that kind of relationship?' I thought to myself, then shrugged. 'Don't care.'

I continued walking around with Haktor when I saw a body on the floor that did not turn into an old man. I leaned down and felt his pulse, it was weak but it was there.

"Is there a knight here who can has a healing ability?" I asked loudly.

The knights turned their heads to look at me before glancing at each other. A few moments later, an older male knight came towards me.

"I have healing ability, my lady, but not that great." The black bearded knight said.

"It's fine." I nodded. "Help me save this man. His pulse is weak but he is definitely alive. Do everything you can to keep it that way until we reach the castle."

The bearded knight gulped and nodded. "Okay, eldest lady."

I looked around the room and then at Haktor. "Tell everyone to start heading out and help those old men out."

Haktor nodded and started giving orders to the knights who swiftly followed. I saw the guards who had survived, barely, being carried princess style by the knights. They started to pile out of the rooms and into the main hall where Klent and the other knights were keeping the people asleep.

We continued outside and seated the captive guards with some knights and healers to keep an eye on them. The wounded knight who did not turn old was brought to a different carriage where two healers and a knight are keeping an eye on him.

I looked around and saw that there were people watching us in hiding. They were men dressed in raggedly, women in skimpy clothes and children in rags or disheveled clothing. They must be the people living in the Red street checking out what happened here.

I looked towards a group of men who were hiding inside a run-down house. They all flinched and tried to act nonchalant. The women who were watching from afar looked worriedly as we carried out people from inside.

Sebastiene and Miss Bloom came out with a robed woman behind them and some people wearing some kind of dull uniform like a hospital gown but brown and filthy looking. Miss bloom and Sebastiene were carrying some boxes in their hands. Sebastiene smiled at the robed woman and motioned for her to follow him. The woman spoke to the people in brown behind her before following Sebastiene.
