15 Suddenly a Daddy

If not the police, Kai considered just running the heck out of there and telling anyone he'd find awake right now.

'But what do I say exactly? That a kid fell out of my ceiling?' Now, this was the question of the century. 'Should I take her and show them? But how do I explain things next?'

Kai held his head in his hands, already seconds away from losing it.

He just didn't know what to do anymore. If he did tell the police about the child, or anyone else for that matter, he doubted they would believe everything he said, and he hated the idea of garnering the attention of the public even more. He'd only be in more trouble if other people knew.

'No, she would be.' Kai stiffened as he thought of Aria again. 'This could even be the end of her.'

He would be fine since the public would still favor him for being the son of a powerful man. But an orphan like her had no one to back her up if she got involved in a massive scandal.

'Everyone's eyes are already on her now that we're about to get a divorce. It'll only get worse once it comes out that she's having a secret affair.'

And he didn't want to cause her any more pain than he already had.

Kai was beyond furious and heartbroken to learn that she had been cheating on him. But getting back at her by making everyone go against her this way would just be plain evil. Kai had to figure out what was going on here first before he did anything he would regret.

"Ehehehe."

Suddenly, he was snapped out of his thoughts. He heard the girl giggling in her sleep, but that wasn't what took him aback. Rather, it was the wet feeling on his palm.

Without him realizing it, her face came too close to his hand, and now, her drool was all over it. "Really now?" Kai muttered, a bit displeased. With a frown on his face, he took back his hand and wiped it using the bedsheet.

"As much as I don't want to be a douchebag, I'm afraid I need to wake you up now, kid-"

"WOWIEEE!!!"

Out of nowhere, the girl rolled over and sprang up from the bed, completely throwing Kai off guard. He was going to ask if she was actually awake this whole time, but he found himself dumbfounded yet again when she looked up at him with huge sparkling eyes. Then, the girl scooted closer, hands tightly clasped together as she flashed Kai the biggest smile he had ever seen.

"Are you my daddy?!"

His jaw dropped. "Huh?"

"Yay! I finally have a daddy!"

Kai blinked more than once, flummoxed time and again. He watched in stunned silence as the little girl started to jump up and down on the bed. She looked quite ecstatic to call an unfamiliar guy her father. The thought alone boggled Kai, rendering him speechless.

"Yey, yey, yey!" she cheered as she kept bouncing around, even doing what seemed to be a mini celebratory dance. "Woahhh! This room's so big! Daddy, are we in a castle?! Are you a- Gyahhh!"

And she tripped.

It was then that Kai jolted back to his senses. But it was too late as she already crashed on the floor at the side of the bed, letting out a loud screech as she did. Kai crawled his way over in a hurry. Getting up quickly to take a look, he found her mumbling in pain while rubbing the back of her head.

"A-Are you okay?" he stammered, a bit shaken up by her little stunt.

She looked up at him and nodded, a grin on her face. "Aria's fine! Don' worry!"

Right then, Kai froze.
