Chapter 18

Rey's POV (2 weeks since previous chapter.)

Leia has been checking up on me non-stop ever since I told her about the pregnancy. It's nice to know she cares but I can't have her with me 100% of the time, especially in this situation. Every time she comes in I'm sat by the window in my room, staring out. I look for Ben all hours of the day. Leia tries to get me up and about but I just can't. Every ship I see gets me hopeful, until I see it's just a cargo ship delivering supplies to the base, that is.  

Sometimes I close my eyes and imagine Ben returning. I run into his arms and cry into them. I tell him about the baby and he cries happily.

But every time I picture this scene, my eyes flash open and hatred courses through me. He left me here after all. Why would I greet him kindly? He hurt me so badly. Part of me wants him to never return.

Maybe it would be the best choice to have our baby never know his father.

"Finn?" I whisper outside of his door. I don't expect an answer. Finn has most likely given up on me and there's nothing I can do about that. I wait a few moments before turning around with tears in my eyes. Suddenly the door opens. I spin around and see a distraught Finn staring at me.

"Can we talk?" I whisper out. Finn nods and gestures for me to enter his room.

My palms feel like I just dipped them in a bucket of water.

I stand to the side and offer an empty smile. He walks up to me and grabs my hands gently.

"Rey, I'm so sorry. I know you need somebody, especially in this situation and I pulled away. I just," He pauses and sighs. "You really mean everything to me. You and Poe were the first people to treat me kindly in my entire life. I just felt betrayed." He runs his thumb across my hands.

"Because I fell in love with the man that caused you to realize how evil the dark side is? I understand, trust me. I don't even know why it happened or why I did it. I know it's rather problematic. It all flashed by so quickly." My gaze drops to the floor.

"Rey, we both know there is a chance that Ren will come back for you. Do you think he is safe enough to raise a child?" I bite my lip. Finn seems to be speaking about everything I'm worried about.

"I don't know. I don't know much at this point. But one I do know is, he also may not return." My voice trails off.

"In the event that that happens, I'll be here. I will help raise this child if necessary. You're my best friend and I'd help you with anything."

"Thank you." A weight feels like it is immediately lifted from my shoulders. I pull Finn into my arms and refuse to let go.

"I've already got some names picked out." I smile into Finn's shoulder. He laughs abruptly and hugs me tighter.__Leia's POV

"General Organa?" A small woman taps my shoulder, grabbing my attention.

"Yes?" I smile slightly at her.

"There is an unknown ship heading towards the base. It's still a great distance away but we wanted to alert you."

"Thank you, I will go and check it out." My heart suddenly picks up the pace, thinking about how it could be

"Are you sure, General? We do not know if they are hostile or not." The woman's voice becomes very cautious.

"Yes. I will signal if anything goes wrong." I turn and begin making my way out the base and to the front.

A black ship can be barely seen. It looks like a small speckled dot in the beautiful blue sky. I stare up at it, my hopes higher than they have ever been.

It comes barreling down. Soon the whole ship can be seen. I study it intensely. It starts to descend slowly.

Air shoots out of tubes that come off of the side.

It lands on the ground with a tremendous thud.  The door begins opening and my heart freezes in anticipation. A black figure stands in the doorway.

"Is it really you?" The masculine voice cries out. His face is somewhat hidden by a black hood.

"Ben?" I whimper.
