The Dark Realm

A blue light beam appeared in the sky and hit the ground and disappeared the moment Jace and the man walked out of it.

Without saying anything else. Jace found himself gasping after realizing that the sky was now red and everything around them seemed to be in ruins. Destroyed buildings, and crashed cars some with human skeletons hanging out where the windscreen was supposed to be.

From the strange air and the toxic feeling of radiation in it, he could tell he wasn't on earth at least not the one he was familiar with.

'This is our home realm. The dark realm, it may not look much because of the war but I can promise you that it will be great once again. Follow me,'

'To where? This place looks apocalyptic. '

'Of course, it does, we've been at war with the demon race. I am taking you to the main headquarters where you will be briefed thoroughly on what's happening to you and the other humans just like you. '

'War!…with…the demon race, demons aren't real…" Jace stammered."And what do you mean other humans!? Are there other humans like me?"

"You really don't know!"

Don't know what?

The man turned around and faced him, "The comet that crossed your world wasn't even a comet. It was a being from the dream realm. He crossed over the human realm and cast his power upon your world, just like he did with mine now look what happened after that. Demons suddenly appeared out of nowhere and absorbed this world's life energy we are currently  running on empty."

The man sounded very serious with each word, he wasn't lying at all.

Jace sighed and followed the man to an abandoned building that wasn't so far from where they had appeared at. It was about seven stories from the ground and had all its windows shattered.

They walked through the entrance and into a wrecked lobby. The walls had scratches and it looked like there was no sign of life for eight years or more.

His green eyes scanned the place and he was already analyzing what could have happened in this lobby. By looking at the scratches he could tell that whatever attacked wasn't a normal animal.

They moved into a corridor and stopped next to an elevator door that opened automatically leading into a fancy elevator. They entered and the doors closed as they started descending.

Jazz music started playing as elevator music and the man growled.

'I hate jazz.'

He heard the man speak but his mouth hadn't moved. Jace had just read the man's mind without him noticing it.

The elevator stopped and the doors opened, leading into another corridor.

This corridor looked so different not as wrecked as messy as the previous one. This looked like those corridors in sci-fi moves or alien ships with bright white lights showing the way. The floor was made from silver painted white along with everything else in the room.

They sauntered through it for about five minutes before stopping on what looked like a door written on the number "11"

Which was the exact number they had given him back at the hospital.

The man placed his hand on the fingerprint scanner on the right and the door slid open. Once he was done, the man then morphed his entire body into something else, he changed into a black woman.

Jace's mouth dropped as she took on the form of a young black woman with pitch-black round eyes and curly black hair.

'You're a girl?!'

The woman sighed as she stretched her entire body, 'Feels good to be back in my original body. I was beginning to think I had forgotten my own face.'

The woman faced him. "Huh, you don't remember your last order before you were sent into a coma,"

'…No…way…' he remembered the man who asked for a coffee before the national address from the president that day five years ago.

'Exactly! I am Cindy by the way, and as much as I would like to chit-chat with you. You must know that as we speak, your would is in grave danger.'

She walked through the door and they stepped into a white space and the door behind them disappeared.

'Open pocket dimension sixty-five!'

The computer beeped**

'Opening pocket dimension sixty-five, welcome back queen morph.'

The white space disappeared and an entire bunker seemed to appear out of nowhere. It looked like he had just walked into one of his favorite video games. There were space shuttles and jets that were being repaired by machines and engineers from below since they were on a metal bridge that stretched to what looked like an open laboratory.

What is this place?'

'This is base sixty-five. We are a magic organization that fights against demons. Who are interdimensional beings with the ability to suck the life energy from realms.'

And how am I involved in this?

'You'll see.'

They continued to the lab where everyone cheered and clapped for her the moment she walked in.

She must have been a superhero of some sort because the computer called her queen morph not Cindy as she had introduced herself earlier.

Being surrounded by so many people made him feel weird from the inside. He hadn't had the feeling of social anxiety in a while, he thought that maybe after five years things would be different but no. It was exactly the same, he was still a loser who was too smart for his own ass.

He was about to say something when he was interrupted by a man who had just appeared out of nowhere;

'So this is the human.'

He was standing behind Jace, but he couldn't stop the strange feeling he had just gotten in his stomach right now. Someone was standing behind him. Someone who was trying to infiltrate his mind.

His eyes glowed a bright green instinctively as he turned around and faced the man who had just done that.

He was a middle-aged man in a lab coat with a name tag attached to his chest labeled; "Chief staff"

He had pure white hair and a face that looked so plastic as if he had come from a doll factory with bright blue eyes that were now glowing within the pair of round wire-framed glasses he was wearing.

Jace growled as he looked at this man. he already started hating him for trying to read his mind. Jace had gone through things that he preferred keeping personal.

'Don't…ever..try…that again.'

The room had gone quiet after that small scene he had pulled off.

'Hmph, you're strong. I guess I was right when I chose you.'

Jace had gone completely serious, he had grown a frightful look on his face. The one of a person who is ready to kill anything that gets in his way.

'Are you the one who is supposed to tell me what the fuck is going on?'

'Yes, I am chief…'

'Kevin Rye, head researcher in the magic research department and commander of the X force delta five.'

Everyone was shocked that Jace had infiltrated the chief's mind without the chief noticing. This had never happened and it wasn't supposed to be possible because Jace just discovered his abilities a day before.

The chief sighed as he faced Jace with no emotion. He couldn't risk underestimating someone so young and powerful like this. He was a gift that could easily turn into a weapon if he did anything wrong.

He pressed his glasses and said, 'Come with me.'

With those words, the chief led the way as Jace followed. His eyes were still glowing green and he still had the look of him about to murder someone.

Kevin led the way through an open door that led to an office, and it shut the moment Jace walked in.

'So…My best guess is that you knew the comet was going to show up and it was going to affect me.'

Jace shrugged and his eyes were restored to the usual green.

Kevin turned and leaned against the wall, 'You're almost right, but the reason why you have those abilities isn't because of the space rock that hit you."

'Then what is the reason?'

'Well, since you've asked, you acquired something very rare and powerful. We believe other four humans also acquired it.'

'What did I acquire?'

Jace was eager to know what…

'You acquired, a demon parasite….I believe it is dormant in your brain.'
