"Hiroto might not want you to stay there-"
"Could you please stop mentioning him?" Damon muttered with a deep tone he barely uses.
What? They've never fought before, "Something really bad happened... right?"
"If I told you..." Damon turned away, "You'd want to forget," he whispered.
"If you don't want to tell me you don't have to. Just know I'll find out eventually, curiosity is a dangerous thing." I won't push the topic though. I'll figure it out later.
"Yeah, your Amber. Is it wrong to delay a massacre?" Damon brought his smile back, lighting up the mood.
"Well, you know whose side I'd take if this ever develops,"
"For him, the world eh?" Damon sighed
"Don't tell him that. Arrogance never looked good on his dumb face," I rolled my eyes, "But... the world would be equivalent,"
"I didn't expect any less," Damon continued to smile through everything. He's taking my talk about Hiro a lot better than he used to. That's nice...
I looked outside at the little parts of melting snow that's left in the city, glaring down on hundreds of roofs, fancy, eloquent, old or broken. At the end of the day, they were all below the pristine palace.
"I forgot snow was still here," My warm breath went against the glass pane creating fog, making the view blurry.
I even forgot it was cold. This body sure adapts fast huh...
"So, Amber, why am I really here?" Damon leaned against the pane.
"It's just nice to see a familiar face,"
"Don't lie to me,"
"Why else do you think I dragged you?" I asked, concentrated on the fog slowly fading away. Hiro and Damon never trusted me when I said I had no ulterior motives. I don't, but simple actions by a 'calculating' person always looked like I was hiding intent.
"Last I saw, you were with that redhead captain. Who knows what concoction is brewed inside that head of yours." Damon's expectations made me laugh just a little.
"I'm just a simple girl that wanted to stay away from the party," I teased. I've corrected them plenty of times, but they'll never take it seriously.
"Yeah hell no, I'm not believing that in a million years. You want something from me. Something to do with Grail right? For all I know, me being here in the first place is probably some stupidly complicated plan you made up for fun," Damon flicked my forehead.
"Oh yeah! You got it spot on! I can totally think that far!" I nodded nonstop trying to exaggerate my sarcasm.
Hold on... Grail is with him. I forgot. Wait.
IF GRAIL IS HERE AND FAY IS HERE-
My eyes widened. Without another thought, I went for the door to get Fay. We have to go. We have to-
Suddenly, the door opened before my hands landed on the doorknob. Making my momentum come to a sudden stop, a sudden fall following it.
"Commande- Amber! Are you alright, Amber?" Fay walked from the door. Her skin is even paler than usual. Her hand, holding a white handkerchief covering her mouth, the cloth, stained with bright red blood.
"I'm... fine, but you good?" I reached out to grab the handkerchief, but Fay pulled it away.
"It is alright. I am in my normal condition. There is no need to worry. I had no knowledge of the southern halls being occupied. I will take my leave right away-"
"Fay?" Damon muttered. His voice, in disbelief. Right... he hasn't seen her quite a long time. The last time was when we... we pretended to be on Shin's side all the way back when, but she didn't talk to us at all that time and that makes the last time he must've heard her spoken... the failed ambush plan after Hiroto got trapped inside that cave.
"Lord Damon, it has been a while," Fay hid her handkerchief and curtsied.
"N-No way..."
"Yeah so... she was the cloaked lady we saw in the throne room with that little son of a- I mean Grail."
"What... is this why you were talking some nonsense with him a day ago?"
So he didn't understand it...
Then I doubt he'd remember what I said.
"You saw my lord, Amber?" Her eyes lit up the moment she realised what Damon said. The way she said 'my' makes MY fist itch to punch a certain vampire douche.
"I did," I went next to Damon, whispering "Do not tell Grail about her, please."
"With me," Damon patted my head, "I won't,"
