Salvage(8)

The name of the dragon remained unknown as Morsan didn't bother to consider naming it. The mage who conducted that ceremony approached Lelin and informed him about the ceremony's completion.

"Now with this, that dragon egg is yours."

"Thank you... So how do I raise it? Do I have to build a ranch in my house for it?"

"Don't do anything on your own without knowing anything. These flying dragons were not suitable for Melromarc's climate changes. You just have to wait for the dragon to hatch from it while incubating it at a warm temperature, contact me after that. I will introduce you to the master beast tamer who will give you the instructions on how to raise it."

Lelin took out white fur clothing and covered that egg carefully as he instructed Morsan. He took that egg in his arms carefully and gave it to Morsan. Morsan held that egg as gently and carefully as possible.

"Please be cautious and refrain from removing this fur clothing. It is crafted from monster fur, which possesses the remarkable ability to keep its wearer warm even in freezing water temperatures. Similarly, the screen concealing these dragon eggs also possesses a similar effect. Hence, it is crucial to handle it with care and avoid removing it."

"Wait! Did I have to always cover with these clothes and keep it warm even after it hatches?!"

"Yes, you need to take care of it until it gets used to Melromarc's climates. Even though it was sub-species, it was still a dragon, it would adapt to its surroundings at a faster rate once it hatched."

"Damn, that's a lot!... I didn't know that... so how much do I have to pay now?"

"You don't have to pay anything... We've already taken care of all the expenses."

"For real?... this egg only cost around at least 20 gold pieces, you know? I don't have to pay anything?!"

"Consider it a bonus for your exceptional work."

"?!"

Morsan couldn't believe what's he hearing right now. He always wanted to buy one of these dragon subspecies for transportation for a long time.

He didn't like the dragon species that were used in the Melromarc's royal army. It looked more like a dinosaur than a dragon to him.

Even though he earned a lot of money in these past six years, he didn't buy them since they were hard to take care of and he couldn't even take care of himself due to all of these complicated cases these guys pushing at him.

In addition, he has been desiring to purchase one of these majestic flying dragons for quite some time.

He aspires to soar atop these dragons and traverse the skies, just like he witnessed in fantastical anime during his previous life.

A significant period ago, he implored everyone to assist him in locating a flying dragon egg, a rare commodity in Melromarc.

These eggs could only be found in Siltvelt and Faubrey, and the cost of importing them here was an added expense. Despite all these considerations, it remains uncertain whether the quality of the dragon egg justified the price we paid.

Consequently, he postponed his plan to acquire his very own flying dragon for an extended period. He also divulged his intentions to Prince Egone, seeking a reliable connection. However, to his astonishment, the flying dragon he had yearned for was unexpectedly bestowed upon him, and at no cost. Was this for real?

He never anticipated that a slave trader, involved in illegal trafficking, would possess such a precious egg, even in his wildest dreams. He felt immense joy for accepting this mission and aiding in the capture of that repugnant slave trader and those corrupt soldiers.

Morsan once again took a look at Lelin if he was really serious. But Lelin didn't seem to be looking joking.

"I will take it gladly then... Thank you, but even if you had asked for payment, I wouldn't give you any money. I would have suggested taking it from the money you owe me from Egone though."

"You... really... *sigh* so are you happy now? you are going to have your own dragon."

"Yep... I'm absolutely happy at this moment! I've got everything I could ever wish for, wealth, influence, strength, and a strong network. The only thing that remains is to bring to life the dream of having my harem of slaves."

The moment he uttered about creating his harem, he heard two different annoyed voices at the same time.

"Tsk."

"Oh no, not this again! You're starting to talk nonsense once more."

Morsan couldn't help but roll his eyes at Tizona and Lelin. Whenever he talks about his dream of creating a slave harem, he always gets the same kind of reaction. He honestly didn't know why no one believed him and took his words seriously even including Tizona.

*Cough* *Cough*

Just as they talking, they heard a fragile and low coughing sound. Lelin's expression immediately changed upon hearing that low voice.

'Mm..'

Morsan also noticed Lelin's subtle change in expression and turned to look at the source of the voice. Within that dark and cold place, there was a concealed cage.

Without bothering to continue his argument, Lenin took out a small bottle that was filled with a purple liquid that looked like medicine and started to approach the place where the cage was placed.

He carefully removed the screen that prevented anyone from seeing what was inside that cage.

The tan-skinned girl with pointy wolfish ears, a tail, and beastly yellow eyes struggled to cough inside the small, confining cage. Her body trembled with weakness, her breaths coming in ragged gasps.

The harsh metal bars pressed against her skin, leaving painful imprints on her delicate flesh. But amidst the agony, her eyes, once dull and lifeless, suddenly sparked with a glimmer of recognition as they locked onto Lelin's figure standing before her.

Her cracked lips parted, barely able to form the words, but her voice, though feeble, carried a profound weight. "Lelin..." she whispered, her voice barely audible, yet filled with a mixture of relief and longing.
