Chapter 14 - Skeleton Ring

Skalain settled into the wooden chair, the tome titled "Three Simple Rituals of Necromancy" open before him. Its aged pages exuded an aura of ancient knowledge, beckoning him to delve into their secrets. With anticipation in his eyes, he began to read the first necromancy spell and ritual.

As Skalain immersed himself in the words, his mind absorbed the intricate details of the ritual. The pages came alive with instructions, diagrams, and incantations. The first ritual, known as "Skeletons Servants and Skeleton Ring," intrigued him with its potential.

"Skeleton Servants is the spell and ritual using bones to create skeleton servants for the necromancer to use as he or she wishes."

"Skeleton Ring is the enchanted bone item that used to carry Skeleton Servants; according to the tome, after Skeleton Ring is created, one can use it to store Skeleton Servants and then use it again to reveal them."

Skalain's fingers traced the lines of the diagrams, committing them to memory. He whispered the incantation softly, feeling the surge of energy flowing through his veins. The power of necromancy coursed through him, awakening a newfound understanding of the dark arts.

"I seem to understand. What I should do

"Using skeleton servants is easy; gather a pile of bones, draw a triangle with a skull in the middle on the ground, and place the bones inside of the triangle."

"According to the number of bones and what kind of bones they are, be they from ordinary creatures or magical creatures, with the words said via magic energy, the ritual will be performed."

"The end result is creating skeleton creatures; the number of creatures depends on the number and quality of resources."

Skalain took a deep breath and nodded.

"Still, I think the Skeleton Ring is more important. Creating an army of skeletons would not be much use to me if I didn't have the means to summon them at will."

According to the text, the first ingredient required was a shard of void stone.

Skalain commented as he nodded.

"Void stone was known for its connection to the realm of void, space, and shadows",

"Its acquisition often involved venturing into dangerous and forbidden territories."

Skalain takes a full, deep breath after reading some information about the "shard of a void stone."

"I should be able to find it if I have enough coins to spend on it."

Skalain concludes and continues to read.

The tome also mentioned the need for three bones from magical creatures.

Skalain smiled.

"This should be easy material to find out."

The difference between creatures and magical creatures is simple. Ordinary creatures are just animals with no extra magical power but are still strong compared to humans when it comes to physicality.

Magical creatures are creatures with magic energy, and some of them are able to use magic to augment their abilities, such as using the fire element to attack or the earth element to improve their defenses.

Ordinary humans have no chance to fight against magical creatures, which is why humans have a dependency on mages and live under their power.

Skalain's thoughts then turned to the ritual itself—a complex series of incantations, gestures, and the careful arrangement of the materials. He realized that the creation of a skeleton ring is not that hard as long as he has enough gold coins.

Thanks to the tomes, he has the knowledge he needed.

"It is going to not be too easy."

Skalain thought.

It would become a powerful tool in his arsenal, aiding him in his quests and safeguarding him against potential threats.

As Skalain set the tome aside and gazed out of the window, he was filled with a mixture of anticipation, curiosity, and a touch of caution.

"I should go and buy some new clothes too."

"I need to look like a proper individual; wearing just black robes with dirt on them is not good at all."
