The Rebel

Roberto and Hassan walked down the the seedy area which is the shortcut to their club. While Roberto glowed in the the dark night , Hassan wore a distressing look. Although the night hadn't gone as he planned his friend had managed to pocket a hundred bucks which might serve him for the long run but Hassan had lost. He kept on kicking at what ever comes near his legs.

The match was a complete disaster as their man Alvaro didn't get near the top . He did not just lose in the match but also failed to get the contract. Hassan tucked his hands into his pockets as he watch Roberto fly in front of him. The cold night breeze blows and he shivered inside it. The end of the week might be a disaster he was sure of it especially since things isn't working as planned . He was looking at flying to Africa to get down to business this weekend but with Alvaro current status there might be no journey. He had placed all his eggs in one basket who would have thought the old champ would be a creep.

They used the kitchen door of the club to enter into the secret room where meetings were held. Every one was there waiting for them . Roberto walked in like a kid who got his favourite candy. His eyes shines but he dare not show his excitement as he caught Mark sitting with legs crossed and his cigarettes in hand dragging anything in it without popping it out . It was a bad mood signal and everyone wore it well including Roberto who thought the night was going well.

Hassan walked to Mark. Mare looking at his expression he understands that Mark knew already. He whispered the words and went to join Roberto standing. He studied the rest of the guys. It was their best chance to win and retire also walk away from the system like nothing ever happened. It was supposed to be 'a clean move to a clean exit' as Hassan tagged it. ' Alvaro wins , get the deal and pounce on him with out him knowing then walk away. No big fight.' It was way too clean since no blood would spill.

Mark dropped his cigar and stood up to face his people. " We are going to take the other route " Mark started . He spoke calmly but the fire in his eyes translate every word so loud that it ignites theirs. Hassan wished to be a leader like Mark . He was everything and anything a leader is.

" We are the young and hopeless kids on the street. Who shouldn't dream at all . Who are we to even dream big . We can't even get the right edu' and the only Academy we are subjected to was slavery , distributing of goods round about the streets . We are like their street dogs . They make the rules and we are not allowed to bite ' em and become slaves forever . But time as come for us to get everything we couldn't have . To dream not any dream but big dreams. The freedom dreams...."

Mark walk into the small room where he brought out goods for those distributing . Once he gave them they walked away. " Ali isn't here .". Mark warned.

" Yes . He said he is working on the stuff for us . " He tried to convince Mark....

It was past midnight when they heard the quiet creaking sound of the door. They both jumped up to peep and watch Hassan staggered inside as a drunken man would. He looked drained. Ali threw him a small pillow which he caught on reflex. " What are you doing here?" Hassan asked surprised to see Connie. Ali tried to give him signals to keep calm but Hassan won't look his way as he was too busy glaring at the floral gown on her. It fitted her perfectly like he was seeing some one else. It was one of his ex's clothes. Maggie the one he wished he never met. The clothes brought back her face in his head. It hits him badly and it showed not only on his face but his body vibrates furiously.

Connie ran straight to Ali's room. It was ok that they broke up but she didn't break up with Ali too. Ali was her best friend and she's still friend with him. If she had known he 'd come she wouldn't had spend the night. Did he hate her that much . She was the one who was supposed to get angry at him not the other way round. Now she can't forgive her self for even thinking he still liked her and that things would go back the way it use to . She kicked the side of the bed before throwing herself on the matrass. She missed him. She missed the way he use to look at her before. If only she could go back in time she 'd never ask for a breakup with him but gush he had accepted so easily. He got through everything easily too. She wish she could too. She punch the pillows so hard . She didn't want to cry else he 'd hear her and laugh at her. When Ali asked her if she had gotten through it all. Although he wasn't specific she thought it was the breakup and had replied positively but seeing her reaction would make him know she hasn't. It would make Ali see her as a weakling and she hate to see him pity her. It makes her realise she was weak .

She lay flat on the bed looking at the ceiling. There was no wallpaper that special rings Ali name in his room. The room was void of anything amusing. It was well organised with books on the table like a perfect a student. But up till the day before she hadn't known he wasn't interested in school at all. He ably pretends to be so he doesn't go rogue like his brother.
