Challenging An Official

"Your disciple? How old is he?" Zhaohui asked incredulously, "Mo Li, you are actually looking down on the officials of the State of Ru."

"Am I looking down on you?" Mo Li asked rhetorically, "Or are you looking down on my disciple? Pick the brightest strategist among you, and we'll see who is looking down on who."

Zhongming stepped forward, his mind focused and his eyes sharp. This was the great mission that he was entrusted with. The lives of countless billions of people rested on his shoulder today. He would not fail.

"Your Majesty, It would be my honor to exchange some pointers with the Ru officials."

"Boy-"

Weiming started only to be cut off by the Emperor.

"Guowei." The Emperor called out.

"Present!" Sun Guowei replied as he stepped forward, ready to obey his Emperor's every command.

"Why don't you go and entertain our guests?"

"Yes, your Majesty." The military strategist replied curtly before turning towards the Members of the Mo Sect.

"I, Sun Guowei, accept your challenge!"

"Bai Zhongming, please educate me."

As Zhongming finished speaking, he whipped out and threw a small spherical device no larger than the palm of his hand.

Once it reached the midpoint between Zhongming and Gouwei, the small sphere unfolded itself and split into many parts, some parts expanded into planets, others into armaments and troops.

The small sphere had become the battlefield in which the Ru invasion of Ming would take place, even all the armament and troops were prearranged for each side. It honestly reminded Zhongming of something straight out of a sci-fi film.

Many officials and even Emperor Ru Xian viewed the spectacle with great interest. It wasn't every day that you'd get to see such a display of engineering prowess, even Guowei, who was considered an unparalleled engineering genius in the state of Ru, could not help but marvel.

"The reputation of the Mo Sect is indeed well deserved," said Guowei as he bowed slightly to Mo Li.

"Official Sun, if you inject some spiritual aura into the troops and armaments, you can mold them as you wish."

Guowei stretched out his right hand and did as instructed and all the pieces on the Ru side of the map began to shift into the various spirit siege weapons and troop choices that the strategist from Ru had desired.

On the other side, Zhongming mirrored the action molding and moving the pieces on the Ming side of the field.

Immediately Guowei's eyes narrowed. It seemed like this young individual from the Mo Sect wasn't so simple after all.

Taking the initiative, Guowei immediately began the offensive. The first Target would be the planet of Gong. Due to its relatively isolated position, it was an ideal target for the Ru army to begin pushing into the Ming's star system.

Once cultivators had reached a certain level in power, the battlefield changed completely. This was due to the fact that Dao Immortal realm cultivators could, with a mere thought, extinguish entire star systems.

Human capital was ultimately the greatest resource for each state. However, the passive spiritual aura of a large group of humans allowed the natural formation of certain resources that were very valuable to high-level cultivators.

Because of this, cultivators spent great effort to develop a system that would reduce the number of unnecessary casualties during wars between the various states. Eventually, a powerful array that would be able to force locality on even the most powerful cultivators was developed.

This array's effect was to localize a cultivator's ability to manipulate essence and or concepts. An example would be a Dao immortal cultivator who possessed a deep understanding of mathematics. At any time and from any distance, such a cultivator could simply invert every single mathematical constant for anything that had strong enough positive karmic ties to a specific state.

Gravity would become a repelling force. Time would flow backwards. The speed of light, which was the speed limit of causality, would become a negative constant. The entire state would then basically implode on itself from all the various contradictions.

Facing such an overwhelming attack, only other high-level cultivators who had defenses against such high-level karma and concept manipulation would be able to survive.

With the invention of the domain of locality, concepts and essences of cultivators were restrained based on locality. The further the distance, the more exponentially powerful the limitation became.

And so, Dao Immortal realm cultivators who were once beings unbound by the concept of location or distance now could no longer strike at enemy states from across the stars, neither would they be able to unleash a devastating attack that could eradicate an entire state.

Even the most powerful of cultivators could not affect an area greater than one planet.

Due to the deep metaphysical nature of this domain of locality. Only the most powerful cultivators could grasp the essence needed to power and sustain it.

Even if countless lower-level cultivators tried to power the array, it would be pointless; they simply did not have the deep metaphysical understanding necessary to utilize something of this level.

It would be akin to asking a two-dimensional being or even an infinite amount of two-dimensional beings to affect a three-dimensional being.

Power was simply irrelevant; it was just the nature of reality that two-dimensional beings and three-dimensional beings could not interact due to being on completely separate planes of existence.

Because such high-level cultivators were rare, most of them would be forced to stay guard in their own respective states.

Leaving any gaps would allow high-level enemy cultivators to instantly strike and eradicate the territories they were supposed to protect.

The most important goal for any invading Force is to crush the high-level cultivators stationed at each territory.

And this is exactly what Guowei was planning to do as he moved a battalion of troops towards the planet of Gong.
