Danmachi: The Black Hole

Life was weird. And turns out, it could get weirder. Now, all I have to do is survive, no matter what it takes. Because no matter the world, there will always be one standing on the top, and that would be me. I would make sure of it. _ I don't own anything of the story, I just own the OCs if there will be any. Will diverge from Cannon eventually but some events will still happen if a little different.

Chapter Eight

Shadow lurk was a beneficial skill, I can attest to that.

As long as the user did not come into the direct sunlight, a substantial speed boost would be grated, that's why I usually wore clothes that covered my body fully when in combat with my party, and did not take them off unless we had some downtime.

And when you get you're stats high enough, the speed boost is a bonus instead of a necessity.

However, there was a difference between the system that I had previously and the status I had now.

Back then, levels granted stat points that were the main source of my strength, speed, dexterity, and health... Here, Levels are basically everything.

Case in point, a new level two, will always be stronger than a veteran level one. The power boost added by a level-up was something I could not just disregard.

Now that I have experienced it, I have no words to just wave off this world system, except for the fact that leveling was very slow.

I could understand that and make comparisons, still.

If a level nineteen fought under-leveled monsters in my old world, it would take a long time to level up, and add to that if there was a condition that did not give you all of the exp the monster had to offer, it was no wonder people took years to level up, especially when going to the dungeon with groups of four or five to even reach the middle floors.

I looked at the paper in my hand and to say that I was not happy would be an understatement.

I wanted to leave that life behind, and I was failing, horribly.

Blaze. A spell that I used very frequently, acquired at a relatively low level in my old life, and leveled up to evolve into something devastating. A purple flame that consumed everything it could as fuel, in this case, my mana and anything it stuck on to continue burning.

It started off as a fancy fireball spell, but thanks to the skill tree, it evolved into what this would consider enchant-type magic, and with the combination of my first magic, I could even boost the abilities of others.

"Isn't this amazing, bell? You have another spell!"

I nodded.

"Indeed..."

I mumbled as I kept my eyes on the spell. It had a no chant, so I assume a simple matter of its name would trigger it.

Logically speaking, this thing could not exist, but logically speaking, the black hole skill should not exist either so who cares? More for me.

I shrugged, turning to Hestia.

"Bell, are you free today?"

I raised an eyebrow, folding that stat sheet and putting it in my pouch.

"Yes."

She smiled up at me, putting her hands on her hips.

"Would you like to spend the day together?"

I hummed and shrugged, it was an off day, so why not? I nodded and Hestia seemed ecstatic, she literally pumped her fist while I watched with a blank gaze.

"Alright, Bell, let's go! Since you have been such a diligent child, we can afford to eat at a better place!"

I hummed and grabbed the belt of throwing daggers, wrapping it around my chest and securing the Kusarigama along with the newly enchanted box that held the chain on the back of my waist.

"Why are you bringing those, Bell?"

I looked back to her for a moment, before focusing back on what I was doing.

"Just in case."

I shrugged, securing the straps and the Kusarigama in my thighs, I would connect them to the chains if there was any need, but it was just a precaution.

The day went on without any problem, however, it would seem like my lack of a reaction soured the mood. I couldn't help it, I was hard to impress.

I needed to ask Welf to make a special order of armor too, the one I was wearing was, admittedly well made of tampered steel, folded many times from what Welf told me, but if something pierced it, nothing was blocking the intruding object from reaching my chest.

I would need something I would need something pierce resistant between the layers...

I sighed, slumping down on the couch in the empty room since Hestia had some "Godly" business to attend to.

I took a deep breath and released it with a sigh. I needed something to drink, ale, for example.

But it was just... six in the evening? Maybe, I really needed some way to keep track of the time.

I stood up, shoving my hands inside my pockets, and went out of the church again, I needed to find somewhere that had good drinks.
