Danmachi: Goliath

I died, and instead of a permanent death, I found myself in a strange world with the game I was working on in my past life. Gods roaming the earth? Familias? Well, what do I do? I guess I will just do what the winds tells me to do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To be honest, I am just coming up with things as I go on. Don't expect good plot or something. If you find plot holes, do tell me and I might fix it. If you have any ideas, I'm all ears. Read, comment, and tell me about this trash I'm about to release to the world. Chapter 2: Tutorial

With that, I mentally clicked on 'equip.' Looking down at my legs, I saw white lights surrounding it. The light lasted less than a second, and then my legs were coated in a loose fit black combat pants. It had large pockets on the sides of the thighs, secured with flaps that have Velcro closures, back pockets located on the backside, and a pocket on the front sides of the pants—with the right one having a zipper. It also had reinforced knees and a place so I could wear a belt, but I don't need one since it fits me perfectly.

'I like this.' Moving my legs, I found it extremely comfortable. Not my style, as I would prefer sweatpants, but I like this too. Placing my hands in the pocket on the side, I noticed they were deep. 'Can I store things here and throw it in the inventory?' Would it be considered one item? I don't see why not, but who knows.

[Congratulations on completing the inventory tutorial. You have been rewarded. {Beginner Shirt} {Beginner Shoes}]

[Please open the inventory and equip them.]

When I mentally opened the inventory this time, I found that the first box was now occupied with a black shirt, since I had the pants equipped. Clicking on it, I quickly skimmed its details, which were similar to the beginner trousers, and it gives +1 strength.

The shirt was also black with a hybrid design, with a durable torso section that was darker and a breathable, stretchy fabric on the sleeves for mobility. It had a stand-up collar that almost touched my jaw, with mesh panels under the arms and on the back. It had only a single pocket with a zipper on the right bicep, the zipper hidden by a cloth.

It is also an athletic fit, fitting contours to my body without being overly tight, with stretch panels on the slave, shoulders, and underarm. 'I don't like this.' It highlights my big belly. I mean, just look at the difference between my arm and my stomach, like two different people.

'Whatever.' I checked the shoes.

The shoes had a similar description, and it gave +1 agility. It was a black combat boot that had a secure and snug fit around my foot and ankle, with a high-top which extends above the ankle. It had multiple eyelets with a gray lace, laced in a neat ladder lace. The toe box is reinforced with a protective cap, with cushioned insoles and midsoles, and it was also light.

[Now that you have equipped all the beginner sets, you should feel the effect of the added stat bonus.]

Just then, I felt a warm feeling spread out from my heart, rushing to the entirety of my body, and then a cold feeling rushed from the entirety of my body back to my heart. If I was to describe the feeling in one word, I would say odd.

[To see the difference in your stats, please call up your status screen by either thinking or saying, 'Status Open.']

[Do not worry, the status screen would only open if you truly wanted it to open, so it wouldn't open with a fleeting thought or while you are in a conversation.]

That's good, I guess. 'Status screen,' I thought, and a screen appeared in front of me. It was black like the inventory, with silver edges and silver writing, and it simply had.

"Hmm…" What is this?

A new screen appeared in front of my status screen.

[Ranks decide everything. Rank 0 is the beginning of the game. Ranks 1 through 3 are early games. Ranks 4 through 6 are mid-game. Ranks 7 through 9 are late games. Finally, ranks 10 through 12 are endgames.]

I know that. That's exactly how I set it up in Tower to Hell. Of course, there is also a higher level than 12, but that's not really important to the game. But that wasn't what got a reaction out of me.

[To rank up, you need at least one D rank stats at level 600. However, you could stall your rank up until you max out one or all your stats at SS rank (or level 1199). After each rank up, all stats will be reset to I (0); however, your previously earned stats would still remain, but hiding.]

That track. But, in Tower to Hell, you don't need a start at D rank to level up. You require a total level of 3000, which would be at least D rank in all stats. For example, I would be able to rank up in this world due to having three stats above D rank, but not in Tower to Hell.

Of course, just like in this world, you can stall your rank up, but once you reach a total level of 3000, it will be next to impossible to go higher. For that reason, it would be best to get your main stats as high as you want before reaching the total level of 3000.

Like a mage would try to get their magic—Arcane in my game—to 1999, then spread out the 1001 remaining points in whatever they want.

[Each rank has a level they are associated with from 0 to 1999.]

[Level 0-99 is I, 100-199 is H, 200-299 is G, 300-399 is F, 400-499 is E, 500-599 is D, 600-699 is C, 700-799 is B, 800-899 is A, 900-999 is S, and 1000-1999 is SS. The official maximum level is 1200, but that isn't possible without the help of a Hero Grade achievement for the corresponding stats or a special ability or item.]

That also matches the game. To reach level 1200, you normally need great achievement in that field. For example, for a mage to earn 1200 in magic, it would require them to create a new magic from scratch—not a simple magic but a complex and powerful one, at least an A-Rank magic. This is possible through the magic crafting system I improved upon after buying the game.

Of course, the magic you create might already exist, but as long as your character hasn't come in contact with it once, you can create it, and it will count. Of course, since I knew all the magic and had them in a file, I could create them and max out mage magic to 1200 all the time.

However, crafting an A-Rank magic takes a week in real-world time, so crafting 12 A-Rank would take 12 weeks, or 2.7 months. And not only that, after reaching rank 6, you will need to craft S-Rank magic to get to 1200, which would take longer, and you will need EX-Rank magic after level 9 to get to 1200, even longer.

It is not worth it, so the second way is to get help from an angel. Of course, it isn't easy to earn that kind of favor from an angel. It's like an ant asking you for food.vWould you even notice it? Sometimes, angels randomly bless people, just like how sometimes you throw chips at ants, but that is also rare.

There is also a third and fourth way. One is through a special skill known as 'Endless Growth.' The final way is to get a special item, which would need a lot of grinding.

'Continue,' the screen changed.

[Using level exp, you can increase the exp of each of your stats, and after some time, they will level up, increasing your total level by 1. The higher the level of the stats and the higher your rank, the more exp it will need.]

Tracks.

[The five basic stats are strength, endurance, dexterity, agility, and magic.]

Now, this is where it messed up.

In my game, it's vitality, strength, defense, endurance, agility, intelligence, arcane, and fate. But again, the keyword is 'in my game.' This is a whole new world, so what do I expect?

It might have taken inspiration from my game, but not everything will be the same.

[Strength determines the power you can put behind your actions, how much you can lift, and so on. It is 3/4th of the deciding factor of your physical attack, 2/4th of the deciding factor on how durable you are, and 1/4th of the deciding factor on your speed.]

[Endurance determines your stamina, how tough you are, how durable your body is, your mass, and how resistant your body is to things like acid and temperature. It is the 2/4th deciding factor on how durable you are.]

[Dexterity determines your mind-body connection, making it easier to make precise movements, control your strength, and react to attacks.]

I guess this was put in so you would not accidentally kill someone or break anything if you reached a higher level. Makes sense.

[Agility determines how fast you can think, react, and run, punch, and everything else about speed. It is 3/4th of the deciding factor on your speed and 1/4th of the deciding factor in your physical attack.]

[Magic determines how much mind (mana point) you have and how powerful a spell is. Depending on how high their magic stat is, it affects the quantity, quality, power, or effectiveness of the spell someone can cast.]

A new screen appeared, this one red with orange hazards in the yellow borders. The black writing read:

[Note! Always keep in mind that just because you and your opponent have the same level in a stat doesn't mean you are equal in that stat. In simple terms, two people might have 300 levels in strength, but one might be able to punch harder while the other can lift more. Or, two people might have 600 levels in magic, but one might have more mind while the other can do more damage.]

'Well, I will definitely keep that in mind.' It is an obvious thing everyone should know, or else no one in this world will have any versatility. Of course, as it implies, each of the stats affects each other in a positive or negative way.

For example, with a high dexterity, you might be able to pull out '110%' of your strength, while if someone focuses predominantly on developing agility while neglecting endurance, they might find themselves capable of bursts of incredible speed and reactivity but unable to maintain this performance for extended durations.

I mean, a supersonic speed punch does sound nice until you notice you have zero durability or strength and you disintegrate your arm. I doubt you can get your agility that high without increasing your strength, endurance, and dexterity in the process.

With the last warning, I sent it and my status screen away and looked up at the sky.

[Now that you understand how to rank up, how to level up, and what each of the stats represents, it is time to learn how to earn level exp. Working out, training, and battling would increase certain stats level exp depending on what you work on.]

[Push-ups might increase the exp for strength, but it wouldn't increase magic. Meditating might increase the exp for magic, but it wouldn't increase strength. And so on.]

[However, there is a way to earn exp you can personally use to level up your stats however you want without the need to train. One way is by---]

I didn't need to finish it to know. 'Killing monsters.'

[Killing would grant you exp, depending on your level and the opponent's level.]

'Well, humans too, I guess.' It makes things more realistic.

[Now that you have learned how to earn exp, please earn some exp.]

I was about to turn my eyes away from the sky, but a new screen came.

[To make it easier, why don't we try the beginner weapon summon to get a weapon? A 10x Beginner Weapon Summon Ticket has been sent to your mail.]

[You can open the mail by mentally calling it up, or you can open the menu and click on it.]

"Summoning, huh." This might be good. I can feel my blood pressure rising. 'Menu.' I decided.

A black screen with silver and white writing, like always, appeared.

Mentally, I selected mail and then saw the mail with the ticket. After collecting it, a new screen appeared in front of my mail.

[The 10x Beginner Weapon Summon Ticket has been sent to your inventory. You can use it by either going to the inventory and clicking use or by navigating to the summoning screen.]

Sending the screen away, I immediately called up the summoning screen, and a new screen appeared, but there was only one place to summon from. It was a screen with seven Rank 3 weapons: a sword, a great-hammer, a great-bow, a polearm, a grimoire, a dagger, and a gauntlet.
