The once-vast chamber of the Infinity Castle trembled under the sheer ferocity of the battle. Flames and shadows clashed with unrelenting intensity, the oppressive mist swirling like a ghostly shroud. Every strike from Kyojuro and Shinjuro illuminated the darkness, their fiery resolve burning bright against the overwhelming odds.
The scarred demon's laughter echoed, guttural and manic. His hulking frame bristled with power, his shadow constructs growing sharper and faster with each moment. "You're strong, humans," he admitted, his voice like grinding stone. "But strength alone won't save you!"
He slammed his fists into the ground, and jagged shadows erupted in all directions, splitting the chamber floor and hurtling toward the Rengokus like spears. At the same time, the woman demon let out a high-pitched shriek, her coiling tendrils of mist twisting into monstrous forms that lashed out with devastating speed.
Kyojuro's golden eyes narrowed. "Father! Watch the left!"
Shinjuro didn't need to be told twice. He pivoted, his sword blazing as he launched into Flame Breathing: Second Form – Rising Scorching Sun. His upward slash cleaved through the mist tendrils, dissipating their deadly force.
"Don't get distracted, boy!" Shinjuro barked as he turned his attention back to the scarred demon's shadows.
"I've got this!" Kyojuro countered, his blade already moving in a fiery arc. He unleashed Flame Breathing: Ninth Form – Rengoku, a surging flame that consumed the incoming shadow spears and drove straight toward the towering demon.
The scarred demon roared as the flames licked his body, searing his flesh despite his regeneration. He lashed out with a massive arm of solid shadow, forcing Kyojuro to leap back. The young Flame Hashira's movements were precise and fluid, each step calculated to exploit an opening in his enemy's defenses.
Meanwhile, Shinjuro faced the mist demon head-on. Her illusions grew more elaborate, twisting the battlefield into a kaleidoscope of shifting images. For a moment, Shinjuro found himself staring at phantoms of his past—his wife, his younger self, and even a ghostly vision of Kyojuro as a child.
"Isn't it beautiful?" the demon cooed, her voice honeyed and mocking. "Wouldn't you rather stay here, with them, forever?"
Shinjuro's grip on his blade tightened, his flames flickering dangerously. "You think I'd fall for such a cheap trick?" With a roar, he slashed through the illusions, his fiery blade tearing apart the mist.
The demon's smile faltered, replaced by a sneer. "You're stubborn, old man. Let's see how long you last."
As the demons intensified their attacks, the Rengokus adapted, their bond as father and son giving them an edge against their foes.
"Kyojuro!" Shinjuro called out, his voice booming. "We'll strike together. Don't hold back!"
"Yes, Father!" Kyojuro responded, his flames surging anew.
The two Flame Breathing users moved in perfect harmony, their combined techniques overwhelming the demons. Shinjuro launched into Flame Breathing: Fourth Form – Blooming Flame Undulation, his wide, sweeping strikes carving through the mist and creating an opening for Kyojuro.
"Now!" Kyojuro shouted, his voice echoing with unshakable resolve. He surged forward with Flame Breathing: Fifth Form – Flame Tiger, his blade roaring to life as a blazing tiger manifested around him.
The fiery beast pounced on the scarred demon, its claws raking through his shadowy defenses and leaving him scorched and vulnerable.
The demons, sensing their impending defeat, unleashed everything they had. The scarred demon's shadows coiled and twisted into a massive spear, which he hurled at Kyojuro with lethal precision. At the same time, the mist demon gathered her tendrils into a swirling vortex of hallucinations and death, aiming to envelop Shinjuro entirely.
Kyojuro's golden eyes gleamed with unwavering focus. "I won't let you harm anyone else!" He planted his feet and swung his blade upward in Flame Breathing: Sixth Form – Raging Flame Whirlpool. The spiraling flames consumed the shadow spear, reducing it to ash.
On the other side of the battlefield, Shinjuro bellowed a war cry, his blade cutting through the mist with ferocious strength. "You'll regret underestimating me, demon!" With a powerful slash, he unleashed Flame Breathing: Third Form – Blazing Universe, dispersing the deadly vortex and leaving the demon exposed.
The Rengokus exchanged a glance, their unspoken bond conveying their shared intent.
"Father," Kyojuro said, his voice steady despite his exhaustion. "Let's end this."
Shinjuro nodded, his lips curling into a rare, proud smile. "Together."
The two Flame Breathing users charged in unison, their blades igniting in brilliant flames. Kyojuro targeted the scarred demon, his movements a blur of fiery precision as he executed Flame Breathing: Ninth Form – Rengoku. His blade struck true, severing the demon's head in a burst of flames that illuminated the dark chamber.
At the same moment, Shinjuro unleashed Flame Breathing: First Form – Unknowing Fire, his powerful strike cleaving through the mist demon's neck with unrelenting force. Her body crumpled, her eerie smile frozen in shock as her head fell to the ground.
The demons' bodies began to disintegrate, their ashes swirling into the air as the Infinity Castle trembled around them. Kyojuro and Shinjuro stood amidst the wreckage, their swords lowered but still blazing with residual heat.
Kyojuro's chest heaved as he caught his breath, sweat dripping down his face. Despite his exhaustion, a small, triumphant smile graced his lips. "We did it, Father."
Shinjuro sheathed his sword, his expression a mixture of pride and relief. "You fought well, Kyojuro. Your mother… she would have been proud."
The young Flame Hashira's smile widened, his golden eyes shimmering with emotion. "Thank you, Father."
As the ashes of their foes scattered into the void, the two Rengokus shared a brief, solemn moment. Their victory was hard-fought, but they knew the battle was far from over. Somewhere in the depths of the Infinity Castle, Muzan awaited, and the final confrontation loomed ever closer.
