39 Chapter 39 - Fighting Two Mutant Goliaths 02.

[Chapter Size: 2585 Words.]

Lucius POV

Dungeon, Eighteenth Floor.

...

...

Seeing a possible solution to my problems, I started running in the opposite direction again. The Goliath managed to break free from my spell and crushed my Riekling with its feet as it got irritated by the pebbles thrown at its leg. I could still hear Riekling's frightened cry, a distant "HEE."

Without wasting time, I cast another magic circle while having an advantage of 50 meters of distance, summoning Riekling again.

"HEEEE!" He was angry now.

"I know, but I still need your help, my friend! I can't face this thing, and I need all the distractions I can get!" I argued, and my goblin nodded.

As my goblin advanced toward him, he lifted another tree from the ground, preparing to strike me as I moved further away.

[- Gravitational Spell, Gravitational Field!]

The tree came toward me, and I quickly cast a gravity spell to slow it down in front of me, which helped because it changed its course slightly, inclining toward the ground.

*BOOM!*

Jumping, I managed to avoid the impact, but it didn't seem to stop him. He was persistent in throwing trees directly at me, so in the next few minutes, I was dodging many of them, thrown in my direction, and ended up being hit by some. The speed of the trees was beyond my agility, and Riekling didn't last long in his distractions.

Nevertheless, after using another potion and various healing items with immense pain from some broken bones, I reached the location I wanted while fleeing from that damn creature, exactly below one of the enormous crystals.

Thinking it was the only way to save myself from this situation, I pointed my hands upward and began to shoot flames into the air.

*Flames*

*Flames*

*Flames*

*Flames*

*Flames*

The sound of flames echoed throughout the place as fireballs shot from my hands directly toward the ceiling.

It was at this moment that I heard the ringing of bells, imagining that Bell was preparing for the final blow on the Goliath he was fighting while holding a magic sword.

At this moment on the dark floor, two sounds stood out, emitting a glow; they could be heard and seen in the midst of the darkness and the buzzing of monsters.

Both drew everyone's attention, one of them being Bell's charged ability, Argonaut, which shone brighter with each toll of the bell. The other was heard from a distance by most adventurers and gods, but it was the one that surprised everyone the most because the flaming glow of crystals being hit on the ceiling over 500 meters high illuminated the darkness of the floor.

The first question about the crystals was why the ceiling was being bombarded with fire, something that made everyone look up with the same question. However, it didn't take long to understand whose spell it was, as everyone in the confusion saw a human in the middle of the attack.

While everyone observed, in the midst of the attack, there was a human stopping occasionally to cast the spell, dodging trees flying in his direction.

"Faster! Break faster!" I shouted as I launched numerous attacks while Goliath approached, throwing trees.

I was fortunate that my spells did not lose attack power, no matter where I shot them. He ran in a straight line, so a distance of 500 meters in height was not a significant challenge for my firebolts.

Seeing Riekling being crushed from a distance for the eighth time, I summoned him every life to give me some advantage. Even though I couldn't do much, holding the Goliath for a few seconds, irritating it, was very useful here.

Breaking free from my thoughts, my instincts suddenly screamed at me, and I took my eyes off the crystals, which I had been looking at to gauge my progress. I saw a tree flying at high speed toward me.

*Hit*

A tree he threw hit me again, and I flew a few meters, interrupting my progress with the crystals. However, I quickly got up, used healing magic, and took my last intact potion to refocus and shoot at the ceiling. I wasn't in the mood to stop while putting another gravitational field in Goliath's path.

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

"Faster!" I shouted as I waited for the crystals to break.

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

There were no good results in my progress as I attacked because they showed no signs of breaking yet, and Goliath was already on top of me, ready to crush me with its feet.

*Kaboooommm!!!!!*

A small explosion with green flashes shone on the other battlefield amid the darkness of the floor. I knew that this attack belonged to Ryuu, so Bell was almost ready to use his attack on the other Goliath.

*Dodge*

*Crack*

*Dodge*

Breaking away from my thoughts, I was forced to cease my fire while dodging Goliath's hands, which tried to punch me into the ground since its feet were not hitting me.

*ROAAAAAAR*

My opponent was as infuriated as an ant like me could be so slippery, so he roared.

His roar, as far as I could tell, was to summon monsters to kill me for the first time, believing that this thing had at least some pride not to have done it before. Fortunately, the monsters he summoned were busy facing other adventurers at a distance, near the first Goliath. So it was just me and the giant in front of me. I summoned Riekling once again and distanced myself.

I resumed launching my attacks on the ceiling.

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Crack*

The crystal began to crack for the first time after a while, while dodging the Monster Rex, and hearing the bell tolling from Argonaut in the distance.

"I need to keep going!" I said frustratedly as I flew a few meters after receiving a punch impact. Since I was hit again and had no potions left to heal my deeper wounds, I was struggling to stay conscious after spitting blood. Still, I resumed launching attacks on the ceiling, with my adrenaline as my main source to stay conscious with all my current injuries that my healing magic couldn't handle.

I am so close now that the crystals have started to crack. Even in the midst of so many injuries, I can't give up and die here, can I?

*Boom*

*Boom*

Suddenly, in the middle of my attacks, a flash was seen, illuminating the entire floor.

*KABOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM*

Bell Cranel launched the Crozzo magic sword with the charged Argonaut, and an explosion shook the place as well. To my surprise, in a way, it even damaged the ceiling more, helping me as I saw the cracks spreading from the places that were already causing damage.

"Finally, they will be here soon, but I will finish what I started before that!" I said to myself, knowing they would come to this fight as soon as they finished on that side. Still, I persisted in those crystals again, launching my firebolts again since I could still destroy this monster alone and wanted to prove to myself that I was capable.

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Crack*

*Boom*

*Crack*

*KABOOOOM*

With a sudden explosion on the ceiling, a flash illuminated the entire dark floor for the second time. Sounds of breaking glass were louder than anything heard so far. A look of horror appeared on the faces of all the spectators as they realized that the source of the noise came from the crystals on the ceiling, being bombarded by that rain of fire.

The cracks began to expand, breaking apart the part that held the enormous crystals on the ceiling, detaching them and causing them to start falling with gravity.

Seeing that I finally succeeded, I looked at the Goliath, which was looking up equally surprised, and cast:

[- Gravitational Spell, Gravitational Field!]

With this, I would restrict any chance of this monster being able to escape the giant crystals that were falling at that moment. I started running to the opposite side to avoid being crushed by them.

"Come on! I can't die here after everything!" I said, putting my greatest effort into making my wounded legs run as fast as they could.

Bell Cranel POV

Dungeon, same location.

Hearing my grandfather's words in my memories, I activated my skill with the sound of a bell. What surprised me was the fire bolts launched from the other side of the forest by Mr. Lucius, heading straight for the crystals on the ceiling above him.

He had developed my firebolt to an unprecedented level, something I never imagined I could do and didn't have the magical energy that Mr. Lucius possesses to execute it equivalently. I couldn't help but feel a bit envious of his magical ability.

'He's fighting alone against one of those things, while we're all here trying to take down the other one,' I thought frustrated. This creature had infinite regeneration, not even the two level-four adventurers who were here could kill it on their own.

So when I saw my attack ready, I launched it, causing a brilliant light of power, illuminating the entire place. But in the end, the monster was not completely defeated, revealing that only the upper part of its body had disintegrated. However, its crystal was exposed, to the horror of the people watching as the monster regenerated again. I ran to hit that crystal without thinking twice and, with Hestia's dagger, pierced it.

*Crack*

The crystal began to crack as soon as I hit it, breaking it and eliminating the monster completely.

"Finally!" I said with relief for finally destroying that Goliath.

"Mr. Cranel?" Ryuu appeared by my side, a little injured after being grabbed by Goliath, but I sighed that she was alive above all.

"Miss Ryuu! We have to go help Mr. Lucius now!" I said hastily while the noise of fire hitting the ceiling continued. Suddenly, everyone turned their heads to the ceiling because something happened that frightened us.

*KABOOOOOOOMMM*

*CRAAAAAACK*

The crystals on the ceiling began to crack, to the horror of everyone on the floor. They were immensely gigantic, and seeing them fall frightened everyone. Crystals started falling towards where Lucius was with the second Goliath.

"LET'S GO HELP LUCIUS!" I shouted and started running without waiting for a response. Ryuu and Alfi were already ahead with their level 4 speed as we watched the crystals, over 60 meters in height, falling from the ceiling.

It didn't take long for them to fall from 500 meters and hit the ground. We could only brace ourselves for the impact when we saw them hit the spot where Lucius and Goliath should have been.

*KABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM*

The entire floor shook with the impact of the massive crystals, much stronger than when I struck my opponent with the charged sword magic.

"AHHHHH, what happened there!" said one of the goddess Aphrodite's adventurers.

"Let's go!" Welf urged, eager to see if Lucius was okay.

When we arrived at the scene, there was dust and debris everywhere. At least a diameter of 150 meters was completely destroyed in the area. The crystals were scattered across a large area, with the largest one embedded in the ground, standing 50 meters tall. From what we could see, Goliath had no chance when it was crushed upon impact with the crystals. We couldn't even see its trace or crystal on the ground, likely buried with the main crystal.

After today, I was sure the eighteenth floor would never be the same with the enormous crystals embedded in the middle of the forest.

After some time, Ryuu managed to find Lucius. He was unconscious and severely injured, 200 meters away from the impact area. Still, he had taken a serious hit from the collision force. I was grateful that he was alive after facing one of those monsters alone.
