Dandelion Memories

“E-excuse me, have…we meet before?” A sweet, sweet smile curved on her lips as she nodded vigorously. “I know you. From here,” she said as she touched where her heart is. “I’ve been looking all over for you.” ---- "I just want to live..." Dandy was born as a flower spirit deprived of all the things that other creatures have. Then it all changes when Amaterasu noticed her. Lived as forest deity, guardians that are in her beck and call. Gods and Goddess protecting her and a person who changed the meaning of love. But who says that life is always a walk on paradise? After being in that lifetime for a short while, she died and transmigrated as mortal with the help of Amaterasu--again. And died again even before she could really live her happy ending with Sora. This isn't what she asked for! This isn't what she wished for! Why did she always have to die? Reincarnated the third time, she needed to end this. She needed to know why can't she live her life anew and kept coming back to this lifetime? ---- Cover credit to: https://twitter.com/ANNERICA138 Photo direct link: https://twitter.com/ANNERICA138/status/1390409718150037506/photo/1 Participating in #WebnovelSpiritySpringAwards2021 (REUPLOAD TO JOIN SPIRITY 2021) ---- DISCLAIMERS: This is a work of fiction. Alone and Abandoned

[AN: Trigger Warning!!! Depressing feelings ahead.]

THE FLOWER Girl just watched Amaterasu looked at the water as if she was looking for someone. She can feel her sadness all the way from where her flower was sitting.

It has been so long before Amaterasu came into her cave. They only spoke a few times. She, telling what was life outside the cave. Her works and all the struggle she needed to do just to help her people live. She was happy to see how Amaterasu's eyes lit up when she was talking about her people. Then, she would just stop talking and the look in her eyes would be distant.

Just like today.

The Flower Girl silently flew to Amaterasu's side. She sat on her shoulder and look at where she was looking. There, she saw an image of a girl was playing some kind of instruments. She looked so beautiful. Hair is as dark as the night. Eyes as blue as the sky. Lips as red as an apple. The girl looks very familiar.

Then the image was gone. All she could see was Amaterasu who was crying again. That was when she realized where she saw that face.

{Mama? Is that Mama, too?}

Amaterasu smiled as she wiped her face. She slowly shakes her head. "No, my dear. That is Ame-no-Uzume," she said in a lonely voice. "I saw her…being crushed by Susanoo. You remember the story why I am hiding, then, Ame-no-Uzume was one of my followers and she was so dear to me. And seeing her being a casualty of Susanoo's rage, breaks my heart. It may be Susanoo's doing but my brother won't be these agitated, be these angry if I would have just…"

A sob escaped Amaterasu's lips. The Flower Girl just looked at her mama. She didn't know what to do. She didn't know what to say. All she could do was absorb some of Amaterasu's agony.

"No, my little girl," Amaterasu quickly distanced herself. "You shouldn't do that. Absorbing too much negative energy would kill you."

The Flower Girl tilted her head as she asked the question, {But if that is my purpose, why would I avoid it?}

Amaterasu smiled at The Flower girl. "Thank you, little one. I'm just afraid that these feelings are too heavy for you and might kill you instantly. Maybe someday, when you are big enough to absorb every dark feeling, I would come to you."

With that, The Flower Girl smiled and danced with her small light illuminating the dark parts of the cave. As if saying that in darkness, you can see a small dot of hope. Hold on to it until you can see the light again.

AMATERASU woke up when she felt a little cold. Was it that cold when she entered the cave or it was colder now? She looked at the water and saw that some part of it had become an ice platform.

She quickly looked for The Flower Girl. It was too cold for her and her flower might die. Then she saw her in her flower sleeping. Amaterasu quickly came into her side to give her warmth.

The Flower Girl's eyes fluttered and open. A smile quickly formed on her small lips. This little light is always happy seeing her as if she was her world. But isn't it like that?

She was the only living that this small flower had ever seen. That might change if she would encounter another creature.

"Right," she whispered as she lulls the small into sleep again. "When the time comes I would stop this hiding, I would take you back with me. I would let you meet the world. And if you would forget me, my dear, that would be the repayment I'd give for giving me this happiness."

The Little Flower didn't respond but just cuddled softly to her warmth. Amaterasu shook her head thinking that this little life will take whatever she was given since she doesn't know what life was outside. That it was far cruel than the darkness and stillness of the cave.

*******

DAYS. Weeks. Months. The flower girl doesn't know how long did Amaterasu was inside the cave with her. But as the times went by, the cave started to get colder and colder. But she wasn't afraid as long as her mama was there.

But she may understand that someday Amaterasu was going to leave her. She didn't know that it would be that painful.

Everything was getting cold when they heard someone was talking just outside of the cave. What they stated may have been the reason why it was getting colder.

"Then let her be," said of the voice of a man when someone said that since Amaterasu was gone, everything was so dark and cold. "We have finally found someone who would take her duty. Someone as powerful as her. Someone who could give us light and warmth."

The Flower Girl worriedly looked at Amaterasu. There was someone stronger, brighter, and warmer than her mama. If that is to be, her mama can stay with her longer.

{Mama did you—}

The Flower Girl wasn't able to finish what she was going to say. Amaterasu left her side and quickly run towards the mouth of the cave to listen closely.

"Then we don't have to wait here anymore?" asked of a voice of a woman.

"Yes! We won't wait for Amaterasu to come out of the cave." The collective reply of voices. Rejoicing from the news that they got.

"Let us go to the new goddess who would give us warmth and light and stop this winter in an instant." One of the voices said it much far away from the cave. Maybe it was the leader upfront.

"She is that powerful?" Now a voice of a child was asking.

"Yes, my dear son. We won't have to suffer from this cold anymore."

Then a collective cheer of children can be heard.

"Let us celebrate. Come, come play us your best music."

The moment Amaterasu heard the music, the Flower Girl saw how her body straightened up as it started to sag and quiver along with her sobs.

"My Ame-no-Uzume. You are alive. You are alive," she said whimpering.

The Flower Girl just stared at Amaterasu as she cries in front of the stone door. She didn't dare come near her as she felt that she wasn't needed.

When Amaterasu stood up and slowly opened the cave to peek, a flash of light shined thru that it filled the whole cave. It was too bright that it almost blinded the Flower Girl. She closed her eyes as she covered her ears from the music and cheering. Everyone is happy but it was too bright for her to see.

She only opened her eyes when she heard Amaterasu screamed. She didn't care if the light would blind her, she needed to get to Amaterasu and help her.

But as she started to flew and got nearer and nearer to the entrance, the door closed and darkness was the only thing left. The muffled music and cheering of people was still there but will they be able to hear her?

{Mama!!}

{Mama.!!!}

{Ma…ma…}

When she touched the stone door, she blasted back and knocked her out. It was sealed by some kind of power. She felt her body got numb.

{Mama. Come back, Mama.}

She called and called but no one came. Loud as she shouted no one heard her. Just like before. Not even Amaterasu came for her. Then the noise outside started to get muffled, weaker and weaker until she didn't hear anything or anyone anymore.

With her small and weak body, she stood up and looked around. It was dark. Just like when she was alone. Was she back from her old life? Back to the darkness that she had?

Then she looked back at her flower. It was the only thing that was glowing. The only light inside the cave. It was maybe the warmth that Amaterasu left. She slowly flew back.

Her tears started to fall when she finally felt Amaterasu's warmth. It was not long ago when she was just beside her and she misses it already.

{Will she come back for me?}

{Will she keep her promise?}

{Did I serve the purpose of my existence?}

{Is Mama happy now?}

{Mama.}

The Flower Girl clung to one of her petals as she thinks of it as Amaterasu's robe. She closed her eyes as she started to feel tired. Imagining how Amaterasu sing her a lullaby. Her warm voice with her warm soft hands holding her.

She never thought that she would feel the warmth of the Goddess. Alone. Just for her. It was enough for all the times that she was left in the darkness. And going back to her old life was not bad at all.

Receiving the warmth and love of the being that you never knew you wanted, made the Flower Girl realize one thing.

That being alone in the dark wasn't bad at all.
