Chapter 48 - Class B (3)

"So, did you like the book?" Rio was reading it until we left, so he probably did but I asked anyway.

"I really enjoyed it!" Rio said happily before continuing to speak, "I loved the part where Juli and Red-Eyes had just barely kept missing each other as they walked by! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, waiting for them to meet."

"Oh, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Is Juli your favorite character?"

"Juli is one of my favorites, but I like Juni more!"

Juni? That was Juli's older brother I believe... Yeah... He dies... Uh... I probably shouldn't tell him that, but at least he died in a noble way.

"So, are you excited to see more of Juni's role in the story?" I asked whilst hiding the fact I knew about Juni's fate.

"I am! I can't wait for Juni and Juli to meet Red-Eyes and have this epic awesome battle! Both of them are strong but I just know Red-Eyes is stronger! They're probably going to have to use some awesome secret move to win!"

...Sorry Rio, but that 'awesome secret move' is Juni dying and Juli having a power-up... In fact, I don't think Juni even really did anything except for pushing Juli out of the way of an attack...

I decided to switch the conversation topic, as I didn't want to hear any more of his happiness just knowing that it'll be crushed soon.

"Yeah, so, what do you think Kathryn invited us to?"

"Hm... It has to be a party, right?"

"I mean, probably. But what's it going to be for?

"Hm... I don't know!" Rio said that with a smile and confidence.

"Me neither."

We had left at 1:57, the latest we could leave whilst being there on time because Kathryn didn't seem like she was ready.

We arrived at the gate, Kathryn wasn't here yet, so Rio and I continued to talk.

"What type of songs do you want to hear today?" I asked, I had no clue whether or not I'd actually be able to play it like I thought I would be able to, but I was trusting this 'talent.'

"I'd like any songs you'd play!" Rio smiled

That's cool... But it doesn't really help me... Eh, I guess I'll steal some more songs from my world... Not like they'd know anyway, I'm literally in a separate place from them.

Rio and I continued to talk for a few more minutes until Kathryn finally showed up.

"Sorry I'm late!!" Kathryn, who was out of breath, shouted.

"It's fi-" Rio was about to speak but I cut him off.

"Wow... I trusted you, Kathryn..." I continued, "I rushed everything to make sure I'd be here on time... But..."

Kathryn cut me off and spoke with a sarcastic tone

"Shudddup."

"Sorry, I'm kidding, it's fine."

"Yeah! It's fine! We were just talking about stuff!" Rio said to Kathryn.

"You know, this is your fault, Leo. If you didn't show me that book, everything would've been fine." Kathryn said sarcastically

Huh? You looked at the book yourself? I didn't show you anything...

"I'm kidding," She said in a joking tone before continuing in a slightly more serious tone, "but I apologize for being late." Kathryn slightly bowed with dignity.

"Ah! You don't need to apologize!" Rio shook his hands and head at the same time

Yeah, it's really not a big deal...

"Anyways! Let's go! Follow me!" Kathryn got back up and started to lead the way.

Sure, I'll follow you to my imminent death... I don't mind.

She took us to a fancy looking building that just screamed 'Rich.'

Woah, fuck, is this going to be a noble's party? Haah, I kinda just dipped on the nobles I said I was going to meet before; I just didn't need their money anymore and Kathryn had me on contract; I hope they aren't here, but I'm sure they'd understand, right?

"Just this way!" Kathryn took us inside.

Inside it looked like a bar. There were also some tables with food on them like a buffet. Along one of the walls in the middle was a small stage with a piano and a microphone on it. That was probably where I'd be most of the time.

I didn't know nobles would go to a bar- actually, this probably isn't a bar, but like a little party room instead. Anyways, it didn't seem like something a noble would go to for a ball or something.

"You two are the first ones to arrive! The others will probably be coming in around 30 minutes." Kathryn said while looking at us.

"What type of party is this?" I asked, pausing for a moment before continuing, "So I know what type of music to play? I remember you said something 'good' but, just anything?"

"Yup! Play any song you want! This is just a party for fun!"

"Alright."

"I have to go set a few more things up! Rio, Leo, enjoy yourselves for now!"

"Sure."

"Good luck!" Rio said as Kathryn started to go talk with the attendants.

I yawned and stretched my arms wide

Now that I think about it, wasn't Ian supposed to meet us at the gate as well? Wonder where he went.

"We should probably wait until everyone gets here before eating, right?" Rio asked

"Eh, if you want to eat then just eat." I responded.

"I'll wait!" Rio smiled

"Sure."

I headed to the stage with the piano and microphone on it and sat down in front of the piano.

Hm... Since I won't be singing, I don't think my 'My Heart To You.' skill would get activated, since they're required to hear my voice...

Rio was standing in front of the stage and he looked like he was waiting for me to play something.

But what songs should I play? And will my talent even work? I'll practice for a little bit before whoever arrives I guess...
