After leaving the chat group, she put her cellphone on the table. Then she asks Max to call Hiro.
Not long after, Mel hears Hiro's voice saying, "Morning Boss... why didn't you come to the office Yesterday? I tried to call you, but you didn't answer. Are you okay?" Hiro asked in a worried voice.
Mel remembers the appointment with Hiro; they will discuss their plans to go to K city. "Hiro, I'm fine. Yesterday I just passed out and had to go to the hospital!" She said it casually.
"W-H-A-T? W-WHY?" Hiro, who was having breakfast in his Apartment, immediately got up from his chair; he was shocked.
Mel chuckled at Hiro's overreaction. She walked to the bathroom. She needed a warm shower; right now, her body felt uncomfortable. "Hiro, don't worry. I'm just exhausted. After a medical examination, the results were all fine." She said in calmly voice.
"Boss, are we are going to K city tomorrow, or do you want me to cancel it?"
"Don't cancel. We're still going as planned. You've already booked an express train ticket, right?"
"Yes. Depart at 9 am. I will pick you up at 8 am."
"Okay!" Suddenly she patted her forehead lightly. "Hiro... I forgot. I left my car at the Double Six parking lot. Please send someone to pick it up and take it to the Apartment."
After giving some others tasks to Hiro, she takes a quick shower. Ten minutes later, she is neatly dressed in her comfortable home dress, an oversized t-shirt with leggings, and tied her black-ink hair in a messy bun. She immediately went down to the dining room. This time she was starving.
From afar, Mel could smell the food. She walked quickly to the dining room. She saw on the table a variety of her favorite food, which Grandma has cooked for her.
Grandma signaled to Mel to sit by her side. "Girl, sit down quickly."
She was stunned to see how much food was on the table. Meanwhile, only she and grandma will eat all this food. "Grandma? That's a lot? Can't we finish all of this?" She sat in her chair.
"Grandma was worried that you didn't eat well, so you fell ill like yesterday." She glanced at Mel while her hand placed the side dish on Mel's plate. "And, Grandma wants you to stay here until you feel fully recovered." her voice sounded serious.
"But Grandma, I'm fine. The results..."
"No, But! This time, you have to obey me, Young Lady." Grandma cut her off with warm tones. Their eyes met.
Mel could only exhale and nodded slowly. She didn't want Grandma to worry about her anymore.
Grandma smiled happily, seeing her granddaughter just accepting her advice. She didn't speak anymore, letting her granddaughter eat her breakfast in peace.
While eating, Mel remembered her accidental meeting with Andy Tanner. She's hesitant whether to tell Grandma or not? After so long, she finally decides to say to her.
Slowly she looked at her and said, "Grandma, yesterday I saw Tanner Boy!"
"What? Do you know him? How?" Grandma looks curious and upset.
"I Don't know him. He recognized me and greeted me first." Mel's face suddenly turned sad. She lowered her head, trying to hide her eyes, which suddenly felt warm. "I tried not to meet Tanner, but in this town, it was hard to avoid them. Ah, when he greeted me, I didn't admit that I was Melanie Tanner. I ignored him. I hope he doesn't say anything to the elders."
Grandma didn't make a sound; she just stared at her intently. After sometimes she said with her soft voice, "My dear granddaughter... is it because of meeting him that you fainted?" Grandma's face turned worried, she adds, "I had expected it must be the cause of your faint!"
"Grandma... sorry that time, I can't handle my emotions." Her voice trembled.
"Why are you apologizing? You should be angry with them! Don't be sad." Grandma gently patted the top of her hair.
She understands her granddaughter's feelings.
Her daughter's divorce has put her daughter's life, and Mel's in great suffering. She was so devastated by the divorce; she decided to move to another country to continue her life with Mel. However, instead of happiness, her daughter got into a tragic accident that took her life. The accident also made her daughter Mel suffer severe injuries and in a coma for two years.
She hid the tragic accident of her daughter' and granddaughter from Tanner's family. She did not want Tanner to take custody of Mel, who was a minor at the time. And, until now, no one in the Tanner family knows that Mel's mother has long passed away, and now Mel is alone. That is a big secret that she has been keeping tightly. No one knows, only the two of them.
But now, another problem arose. Old Tanner knows that Mel has returned to X, and he calls her almost every day asking to see Mel. Meanwhile, Mel never wanted to meet them.
"Girls, do you miss your Grandpa?" Grandma carefully watched Mel's reaction.
Mel silent. She doesn't know how to answer.
Grandma adding "Old Tanner, wanted to see you. Since knowing you were back, he called Grandma several times. Do you want to see him? If you don't want to see him, that's fine. I'll just tell him that you're not ready to meet."
Mel stopped eating, slowly she raises her head, and her eyes meet grandma's calm eyes; she wavers. "Grandma, to be honest, I'm not angry with Grandpa." She smiled, trying to make Grandma understand her feelings. "When I lived there, I remembered Grandpa loves me very much. But! I didn't want to set foot into Tanner Mansion anymore. I vowed to my mom never to do that." Instantly her heart trembled, and it hurt a little; she always remembers how she missed her mom whenever she brought her into a conversation.
"Grandma understands. Later I will tell Old Tanner to arrange a meeting outside the Tanner Mansion. It's that okay?"
Mel nodded in agreement. She couldn't lie to herself if she missed Grandpa so much. But on the other hand, Mel didn't want to betray her mother. Her mother must be heartbroken if she returned to that house.
After finishing her breakfast, she returned to her room. Mel knows she has got a lot of work to do. She hasn't opened her inbox yet. She thinks once she opens it, there will be many job offers from the hacker community.
