  Leif doesn't know Jie Ai very well.  But he has heard from Rosanne about what Jie Ai could do.  Throwing needles, apparently.  So Leif says to Rosanne,

  "That is true," Leif pauses, and then says,  "Well, are we supposed to be working with Nitte now?  I don't believe she has given up killing me in exchange for higher level of Windigo power." 

  Rosanne seems to only just remember something, "Ah.  Didn't you say you were following Nitte? Where did she go?"

  "It was very difficult to follow her up close.  She is quite observant and very quickly found out that I was tailing him.  So, I gave up after only following her to the airport."
