40 Plots, Mistakes, & More Plots
Lately, I spent more time watching anime.
I watched Black Clover, The Twelve Kingdoms, and Yona of the Dawn. I was trying to find good plots. Most of these animes came from the manga version of novels. Though visual stories are written differently compared to a novel, nonetheless, there is still a writer behind it.
Same as what my mentor said to me, "there's nothing wrong spending more time watching as you are rewarded of a Eureka moment. That's what matters most."
I totally agree with him. While watching, I got these insights to add in my story. Like realizing what I'm lacking in my story, new plot twist, another way of plotting a story, what characters to add, and more.
The ideas are endless. What's left is putting them into words. This is the difficult part. I have a lot of ideas but writing them beautifully like a painting in the minds of readers is my struggle.
Sometimes, I wish I'm a native English speaker, so I already have this easier English grammar background. On the other hand, not all native English speakers are that good with grammar.
Thus, the only choice I have is to study English grammar again. Wuahhhh! 😥😭 I'm going back to elementary education.
It is true. Shamefully admitting my inadequacies. Sometimes while writing I tend to check the proper grammar syntax before writing a phrase. So, editing takes most of my time.
Imagine, for an hour of draft writing, I need two to three hours of editing. So, please readers be kind to us authors when you ask fast update.
Anyway, back to the topic. Plotting is really an essential tool for a story to progress. A writer who doesn't write plot notes or outline, tend to lose their way and plot holes began emerging. The shameful thing is when the readers see them first before the author does.
It could be nicer if readers leave comments or give a review as they point out the mistakes. But if they simply drop the story because of the seen mistakes without saying anything is the worst. The authors continue to write and slowly lose confidence because the readers are leaving with no clear explanation.
In the end, the author might drop the story or decides to stop writing, believing he is not talented enough to write.
I do feel that way when readers began dropping my story. One person lost is still okay but when I lose 20 or more, I start to question "what went wrong?" When I'm losing 100 or more, I feel the need to end the story even though I plan to write a longer story.
Hmm, I think I'm out of topic again. Never mind. I just write what comes to mind. This is my diary, right? Hehe, finding an excuse.
Haha, this diary is a good example of no plotting and outlining result. See that? This is a perfect example of no clear direction story with a lot of plot holes.
But that's the uniqueness of a diary. It is classified on its own. No clear direction but only the daily walk of a writer.
Do I need to write beautiful descriptions? Hmm, maybe but not necessary.
Do I need to be discrete? Probably, since this is an online diary, open to the public to read.
Do I need to plan ahead what to write? Hmm, maybe, but most I don't.
I can continue with the DO I NEED questions but that would be boring since this diary could be boring for readers to read. Honestly, I have no idea, too, because no one is saying. I have a few readers keeping this in their library and slowly growing, as in slow as a snail. But that's fine with me since this is only a diary.
I'm actually thankful that people are reading this. I never expected that much but I was rewarded.
That is the joy of writing this diary.
To the readers: If I am writing something that offended you in any way, please forgive me. I have no intention to do so.
Please, don't misunderstand that statement. Nothing is happening or someone voiced they are hurt with what I'm writing. I'm saying it in case I did hurt someone outside my knowledge.
