Epilogue

(To the battle)

A few days later, Jason woke up in an unfamiliar bed. He tried to sit up but felt pain in his torso so all he could do was lie there in pain. Jason activated his biomonitor to check out the state of his body.

'Hmm. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Those nanomachines are really working hard at repairing me.'

Jason started looking through everything in the system as he started planning his next few purchases. He didn't even notice Rose enter the room and sit next to his bed.

*cough cough*

Jason turned to see Rose glaring at him.

"I won, didn't I?"

Which earned him a punch in his already broken ribs.

"I know, I know. We at the other safehouse Talia told us about?"

"Hmm. But we don't have to worry about them. I traded Cain's body for Ra's calling off the hit."

Jason looked at her like he was looking at an idiot. Rose shrugged her shoulders in response.

"Don't look at me like that. He will call it off, at least publicly. Even if he sends others after us privately, he won't do it immediately. I'm just buying us some time."

Jason relaxed when Rose explained it like that. He would occasionally forget that she was the veteran between them.

"It'll take you another week to heal. After that, we will head to Gotham so we can get started on the next phase of the plan. Vandal will meet up with us there at the end of the month."

Jason nodded. Although they were going to Gotham sooner than he had expected, it didn't make too much of a difference.

The original plan Jason had come up with was for him to allow Knightfall or No Man's Land or whatever happened in Harley Quinn to occur so that Gotham would be abandoned by the nation and Jason could grab himself a large amount of turf when Batman and the GCPD couldn't oppose him. But when he shared it with Rose, she pointed out how stupid it was.

1st was because she didn't know any of the events would happen so it was really just gambling for something terrible to happen to Gotham in her eyes. Which is never a bad gamble with the criminals there but just seemed unrealistic.

The second reason was the result of something like that happening. It would either end with the US declaring war on the city so they could reclaim it or the heroes going in and taking down the villains so they could retake it. Either way ended up with whoever was in charge of the abandoned city getting taken down.

So Rose convinced Jason to come up with a different plan. And together, they were able to form their latest plan. One that would cost more money and had more initial risk but that had better long-term potential.

While Jason was getting ready to purchase a new arm and eye, he heard Rose giggle.

"Pft! My bad. I was just thinking about how funny it is that originally I had one eye and you had both but not you're the one wearing the eyepatch."

Jason also knew about the irony of the situation which caused him to smile.

He was about to buy his replacements when Rose placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Wait. I know you wanna get back in the fight soon but your body needs to recover. And you're too stubborn to use anything other than Tylenol or those nanobots which makes the process last even longer. Just rest for now. I promise that you getting those upgrades in a week will not cause any major differences.

Jason grunted in agreement.

For the next week, Velocity and Ballistic visited Jason every other day. They were apparently going through some intense training that Rose had come up with them.

Scandal and Knockout didn't visit Jason more than once. It seemed like they were still upset about Jason 'buying' them.

'Oh well. They'll come around eventually,' Jason thought to himself after their tense, first, and only encounter.

Harley was the wildcard. She kept visiting Jason whenever he was about to fall asleep. Like she had a built-in alert to notify her when she should come knocking on his door.

After a week of all of these encounters, Jason was finally up and ready to move. The group packed up the supplies they brought with them before buying a couple of aerodyne cars to bring to Gotham. Each of the cars cost 35,000 thousand but Jason didn't mind since they could hover and had a top speed of around 200 MPH.

Within a few hours, the group arrived in Gotham City. Jason paid for a few hotel rooms for each of them where they would set up shop until Vandal came to see him and Talia had sent over Ivo.

While they were waiting, Jason upgraded himself. Noticing the weakness in his combat style and how out of balance his body was, Jason bought himself the best cyberarm he could find that would fit him after he had gone through his growth spurt.

He made sure to equip the pile bunker and grenade launcher into the arm but saved the rest of the upgrade he would give to it later. He also bought back another eye and gave it the same upgrades he had previously.

Jason then upgraded all of the tech he currently had but only had the basics of. His Chipware Reader was upgraded to the version that could read 12, his Neuralware Processor also got upgraded from the 2020 version to the 2099 version of it which basically combined the modem and cyberdeck into it, and lastly was his Sandevistan which got upgraded to the best version that Jason was able to keep active for 60 seconds without any backlash and increased his speed even further.

After all of his upgrades were done, Jason was left bored. Rose wouldn't let him go out and try to make deals since she wanted as little conflict as possible before they got their new permanent base.

So Jason was stuck with nothing to do in his room except a little bit of online poker and blackjack. But after a few days, he decided to try out something he had been putting off.

'Let's try inventing something.'

Jason was ready to start making his own tech
