Chapter 9: Love Yourz

Date: 18th of June, 2075

Location: America - Night City - Watson - Doom clerk

POV: Ominisecnt

"It seems my understanding of the world is limited… Magic, sorcery… In a technologically advanced civilisation, how can these so-called Sorcerers blend into the world? And just for how long?"

Victor murmured as he stood staring at his holographic screen. The display demonstrating reports of numerous figures of interest. One of which was the Voodoo Boys, the sly gang almost infamous for their tight grip over Pacifica.

Scanning for individuals in their area, their own private network seemed to rebel and thwart his attempts. Series of Daemons targeting his own systems. While each daemon and netrunner was destroyed their network would once again hide.

Not to mention the random and miscellaneous malware that seemed to spawn from nowhere.

The task was thus too tedious to endure as loading times could not be automated. Had he been a netrunner such a task would've been wetwork. Unfortunately, Victor never wished to temper with his mind. Many had done so and many had died.

Perhaps I must expand my front to Night Cities underbelly faster than I anticipated… My ignorance almost destroyed my plans, everything must be changed… To be so ignorant is detestable… The world is mine and mine alone...

Monologueing silently within his own mind he murmured calculations, screens of a timeline forming within it. Scenes of destruction and domination forming, his figure the centre of it all.

Locked into the screen he was quickly interrupted by a call.

[Incoming call from: David Martinez]

[Call accepted]

"Speak."

"I uh, got bruised up by some choom… You sure it's too early for me to get some tech?"

"You're 16, it'll stunt your growth."

"But I need it, a gun can only do so much around here!"

"That gun is capable of puncturing bone with ease, what does a mere child like you need such high calibre firepower for?"

"Look it's just a precaution. I swear I'll be all good!"

"I gave you a precaution kiddo, any more and you'll be a live target. Not only to the likes of hooligans but those of higher order."

"Please I need more power."

"And risk destroying yourself? Power without control is a weakness. With your body, you would survive a mere four months before dying. I refuse to let you burn."

"What do you mean? You don't know that! With Tech like yours in me, I could destroy anyone on the street!"

"And what would that accomplish? Even if I gave you the ability to hold the world what you do with it? Machine and steel is merely a tool to assist your body. The day you apply that same tool to your flesh you become one. A tool is disposable an asset that can be swapped and replaced. It won't be long until you see your own self as replaceable. Individuality is key in a world full of copies."

"But I'd become stronger! Strong enough to protect me, strong to protect others! Strong enough so that a kid like me doesn't lose their mother…"

"Strong enough to save everyone? David… No one lives forever… You can't expect to save every life. Every decision and every action is one we must learn from. While your mothers' death is unfortunate… You must understand you cannot waste your life on a what-if. Death comes as natural as air, it will take everything. You must learn to embrace it, to understand it."

"I know… But is it not wishful to at least hope they can live for a bit longer? They could've saved her you know… A rat like me just couldn't afford it…"

Feeling silence draw upon the duo, Victor allowed the child to sit silently along the other screen his eyes peering through his camera to view him. The child's slight tears dripped out, his eyes lacking light, a dreadful pang welling within his chest.

"There are other ways David. In time I will show you. But for now, you must understand your weakness and embrace it. Only then can you grow. A man born on a hill will only ever learn to look below. Gaze amongst the stars child. This world is cursed, that is why I also dream. A dream never dies David. A thought may wither but a dream… It stays amongst the stars."

"A dream, huh…"

"A dream truly never dies."

Victor ending the call left the child to ponder his words. While he attempted to comfort the child he understood that at the end of the day. You could never save someone unless they wanted to be saved. 'You may bring a horse to a river but you can't make it drink'

Swiping his screen to view another scene it displayed Scout drones below the lower Night city system. Scenes of differing gang members and targets of interest deployed. An image of Matilda K. Rose "Sasquatch" deployed, known infamously as the leader of the animals, she an abomination of steroids and cybernetics was alike a feral animal.

Seeing her frame as barbaric, it captured the Animals' grotesque figures and theme. Strongest by strength, size and brawn. Rage in its simplest form. It had no beauty nor finesse it simply was unpleasing. Small in numbers the animals acted as a mercenary band more than an actual threat.

It'd be best to replace em, he thought.

Flashing a list of cards within his hands he decided to sequence a number of formations. Formulating each one his hands dropped to a single card, a cold wisp of air pertaining into the room.

Leaving his room Victor made his way through the door to see Jackie munching on his lunch. The man was almost oblivious to Victors' presence behind him as his mind was completely focused on the ramen.

"I sometimes wonder if I'm paying to eat rather than work…" Jackie muttered leaning against Victors' door.

"As long as you follow your procedures I won't indulge your methods."

Startled by Victors' presence Jackie immediately stood tall.

"Ah, sorry about that choom was just feeling a little hungry was all. It gets kinda boring here."

"Apologies are unneeded, it is best it remains that way. Continue with protocols."

"No worries boss!"

Stepping into the acidic storm he felt rain wash over him and his bike. Looking up to see the clouded sky he remensiciened on the past.

"Want an umbrella, Choom?" Jackie offered, Victor, waving the umbrella away.

"No need." Victor voiced stepping away and hopping onto his bike. The sleek and analgesic design shining brilliantly against the neon boards. The buffs of smoke waffled the air, against the muggy atmosphere.

*Munch*

"I never got to properly ask you about your ride." Jackie inquired, his eyes washing over the bike.

"It's nothing significant to what I have back home. A side project to be precise."

"Side project? You got things better than this?" Jackie huffed.

"Indeed but Veichles of such design arn't exactly suited for Night city. The design of this bike merely allows for accessibility and sleekness. Subtle, yet designed expecctionally to the right eye."

"Say, could I get to ride it one day? My old rust bucket hasn't been through a proper touch up since I stopped bein a solo. Stopped getting enough scratch to buy the right parts."

"To be quite honest what you've got isn't quite bad as you've brought it out to be. It's outfitted with smooth steering and pads. Alongside an ample engine."

"Yeah, but nothing compares to that bad boy. I've seen how you ride that thing, it's got some good kick and that purrrr. Choom, you've got one preem ride. I've seen Vato's kill their own after rides like that."

"Sounds like you had it rough."

"Rough would be an understatement Choom, hahahaha. I sometimes wonder how I made it out at all. But I've got to say, when I had my little girl I knew I did alright."

"Your little kid?"

"Yeah my daughter AJ, she turned three last month. She usually is baby sitted by Misty's mom since we usually are both working. Should've seen the look on Mama Welles face when I told her I got Misty Pregnant."

"What was her reaction?"

"Hoh, no Valentino or Solo could stop her when she found out. She demanded that I bring Misty to her. I wanted her to kill it but my Mama insisted she keep it and I've never regretted it since."

"Kill it?"

"Look Choom, Night City ain't exactly the best place to be brought up. You've seen it, I've lived it… I was young and stupid back then. Maybe I still am. I feared many things back then and trying to raise a little me? Screw that. I've lost brothers in this game and I didn't want to have something else to lose. Carrying Steel, Chasing that Scratch, it was a never-ending cycle."

"Did she approve?"

"Mama Welles? Eh, she came around. It was mostly AJ that brought her and Misty together. We've been managing since but sometimes that fire in me burns, Choom. That fire to go back to being that man. That edge runner chasing that big dream. But every time I see my daughter it gets blown through the wind."

"It's made you content, eh."

"It's made me happy Victor. Perhaps when you meet the right input you'll see what I mean."

"I doubt it."

"The Worlds' big Choom. You just gotta see the finer details or in this case the right Senorita. Or maybe you like men?"

"Don't kid yourself, Jackie."

"Eh, you wouldn't know if you haven't tried it."

"I don't need to shoot myself to know that I don't like it. Don't tell me you've explored others…"

"Look they were a joy toy with a few parts switched over. It wasn't till I found out later."

"I'm disappointed Jackie."

"I was young okay! Had my first sniff of scratch from a gig and thought it'd be a blast to spend it on one. I didn't find out later until I found out that she was actually a he."

"That wouldn't count then since you were deceived into intercourse."

"Aye, but I found it then that as long as it was female enough, then it was enough for me."

"I don't need your excuses to divulge on such a topic Jackie. If such was the case then if a tree had enough curves you would please yourself with splinters."

"Look I'm just saying, Amigo," Jackie laughed, his obvious antics working to agitate Victor who knew what he was doing.

[Incoming call: Encrypted]

Interesting, Victor thought as he quickly breached through.

"You'll have to excuse me, I have a call coming though. We'll continue this chat later." Victor voiced excusing himself.

[Breaching: Gustavo Orta]

[Accepting call]

Hearing gunfire from the other side, a few grunts and shouts could be heard from the other side, "Im going to need your help, doctor. Please get here quickly."

Hearing his heavy accent and plead he decided to depart. As to why the man would choose him of all people he would find out.

"I will need your location," Victor alerted his scans already pinpointing his location. Awaiting his voice he could hear him send him his ping.

Storming through the streets only the tint of burnt rubber slid through the air, the traction between his vehicle and the road kept clamped.

Feeling the wind glide past him he kept his pace steady yet swift. The neon signs flicker with advertisements, vying for attention amidst the chaotic symphony of blaring sirens and electronic music that reverberates through the air. Drones dart above, capturing moments of urban life and adding to the kinetic energy of the scene.

Augmented individuals strut their cybernetic enhancements, their neon tattoos pulsating in sync with the city's heartbeat. Street vendors peddle their wares, offering tantalizing glimpses of the underground Chicana culture. Slowly the streets grow less dense, and the characters grow smaller.

Closing in on his location gunfire thrived with the music dappining at the scene. The smell of burned rubber, scrap metal and nicotine waffling his nose. Clenching his hand he made his way through, his hand cannon kept high. To Victor, it almost felt like home.

Viewing the scene he saw both sides shooting towards one another. Their bodies weaving and blitzing through their cover. With one side wearing the good old American blue, red and white it was obvious that they were from the 6th Street gang. Their usual stretch, flimsy attire and oddly high-tech weaponry were a site. On the other were the gold-plated highly augmented members of the Valentinos' their arms and strength pressuring the others with ease. Hopping off his bike he sped away to park near a safe location.

Seeing the Valentino car turned over it came clear that they were ambushed. A large puncture coming from the passenger seat is an indicator of what flipped the vehicle. Seeing the blood trail he started to make his way over.

Hearing a random goon scream he turned to face the noise, "Aye move out of the way fucker!"

Hearing slight dints of noise against his armour he decided to retaliate. Quickly turning his arm he executed him, the bolt of his canon whistling through with surprising force. Exploding the individuals' brains, his chrome and brain matter splattered against his comrades.

Terrified by the instant kill they continued to target him, the attention now zoomed on the new menacing figure. Blurred from their augmented eyes it almost seemed like a shadow had dawned upon them.

A demon of unprecedented force showcasing itself to the world. With each step, a body dropped and with each bullet, retaliation was returned tenfold. Seeing such augmented 6th streets easily disabled with a quick flash to the head was dreadful.

Somethings never change, Victor smiled.

Seeing their attempts to hack his software he huffed at disappointment. Their daemons quickly disintegrated and were sent back. Seeing a few of their Netrunners flair from their eyes, he noticed their numbers dwindle before being knocked to the floor.

Suddenly turning to face a flash from afar Victor was knocked to the side. His mind was shocked at the bullet managing to break through his shield. Replaying the video he noticed that the bullet was strong enough to total a vehicle - akin to a shell than an actual bullet.

Turning to trail the trajectory he found it to be almost comical to the standard present in Night City.

"two kilometres?"

Seeing the light flicker away and melding within the neon lights, Victor could only murmur with disbelief.

Deciding to dodge and weave through smoke bombs he decided to instead focus on getting to Gustavo. The man's heat signature and latest ping coming from a few metres over near cover.

"Don't shoot the fuckin Corpo lookin enforcer! He's with us…" Gustavo called to his members their guns pointed towards Victors' skull. While few managed to keep a stern gaze many felt their heart skip a beat.

"You called?" Victor asked appearing before Gustavo. His eyes zoomed onto the wounded female next to him.

Gustavo pleading held her within his arms unsure of what to do, "Please choom, you gotta help her…"

"I'll see what I can do," Victor answered quickly pulling out his first aid kit. Turning her to her side he noticed the gang tattoos inked near her chest. Turning to face Gustavo, they locked eyes for a few moments.

"I…"

"It's your business, patient confidentiality." Amused, he quickly went to work, the act taking on a few moments. With the wound cleaned and then stitched, everything seemed to go smoothly. The bullet that was lodged in was easily pulled out with a magnet.

"That won't hurt her will it?" Gustavo asked seeing him pull a chemical syringe.

"In the Long run? Not a scratch. Right now? Incredibly so."

"Hey, you better not do anything crazy fucker!"

"You called me here, just trust me. I'm the least dodgy doctor you'll see in this city."

Inserting it he injected it, the sudden jolt forcing her awake. Gripping onto Victors' arm she attempted to head-butt him only for the action to knock her back to sleep.

"Classy."

"What the fuck, choom!" Gustavo angered by the display quickly asking for an explanation.

"Settle down, it's merely her body reacting. At least we know she's got a little fire in her." Victor explained.

"I'm sorry, just a little tense you know…" Gustavo voiced.

"Boss! The fucking tin-cans are on their way! We gotta move."

"I guess that's our cue to leave. I'll send you the bill later. Just make sure you're alive," Victor answered, a cloud quickly surrounding his feet blinding the rest. Hopping on his bike he sped away, the noise of sirens quickly flooding the area.

Escaping the helicopter under the city tunnels he awaited the heat to lay low. Cameras around the shoot out now on television.

"It seems you survived that shot…" A voice murmured, the individual in sight glaring at Victor with neon blue eyes, his skin unnaturally pale with his body almost sickly. Having most of his limbs replaced with cybernetic implants it seemed almost shocking for the man to remain alive or if he even was.

"Who are you?"

"Who we are is of no concern… Know, we are always watching and we will have you.." The figure voiced before launching itself towards Victor. The action met with unprecedented firepower to the abdomen. Scanning and retrieving the carcass it came back with nothing, it's neurological processor fried almost instantly from the net.

Left staring at the dropped body, Victor took the body and dropped it within his inner world. Left with nothing else to see he decided to ride away, cautious on the next move.

On the other side of town, David and Jackie found themselves perched together, their gazes locked on the mesmerizing neon streets stretching out before them. They sat in silence, captivated by the ever-changing display of billboards that adorned the cityscape.

The billboards loomed above them, each one a vibrant canvas showcasing a myriad of advertisements and holographic displays. Their eyes traced the outlines of futuristic vehicles speeding across the screens, intermingled with larger-than-life holograms of celebrities and products. The neon lights danced in a symphony of colours, casting an ethereal glow on David and Jackie's faces.

"I hate this." David voiced.

"Hate what, Choom?" Jackie hummed taking a sip of his drink.

"That I can't do anything right…" David murmured, his voice while the light was still heard by Jackie.

"Sometimes I feel the same, kiddo… Sometimes I really do."

"But I look at who I've helped and see what I've done and I forget about it. It's not the amount of mistakes you made kid, it's about what you've done right that counts."

"But what if you've never done something right?"

"You keep going till you can't. I've lived for almost forty years, yet i've really only done good in the last few years of my life. You'll see that light kid and when you do chase after it with all you got."

"How do I know that's the right light?"

"You'll just know. Trust me, it took me a long time but eventually, I found it. Go get a breather, maybe a drink. Or maybe a burger who knows. Just… Go do something, it's better than sitting here all sad and shit, choom."

"Maybe you're right. Maybe I do need some time."

"That's all I can ask for kid," Jackie replied.

Getting up to walk away he was stopped by Jackie. Taking a few moments to stare at one another Jackie prompted him.

"You got Iron?"

"Heh, Always." David smiled before walking away. His Piece shining against his hip.

"You'll be alright kid." Jackie heaved.

Taking a stroll, David took time to embrace the city atmosphere. His stroll eventually led him to take a cap. Walking past the skyscrapers and neon billboards he went past the menacing buildings. David took his time to fully explore the city before coming across a luminous girl.

With a mane of vibrant, neon-coloured hair cascading down her shoulders she excluded vibrant skin almost as clear as fine china. Captivated by her beauty David took time to watch her from afar, appreciating her appearance. Lacking any apparent cybernetics he watched in slight awe at the way she moved around.

Noticing her almost carefree eyes they quickly turned vigilant at my sight, and thought softened for almost a second.

"Fuck you looking at civvie?" A smurf alerted, the man's attire dripped in military gear.

"Hey no need to be a gonk, I'm just passing through." David voiced before steering away.

"Ah, fuck here we go again." A soldier muttered.

"She gone again?"

"Yep…"

David not bothering with their disappointed words walked mindlessly before reaching an abandoned overpass. Sitting under it he munched on an order meal, the food merely miscellaneous fried items. Enjoying his meal he suddenly felt a slight touch by his shoulder.

"The fuck." Muttering confused he quickly waved his iron around only to find the same girl by his side.

"Nice card, looks expensive…" She murmured, eying the stolen item it was Victors' card.

"I'd ask you to give that back," David shouted his iron drawn at her. Turning to view from afar he saw police officers walk past, the sight limiting his actions.

"How about no?" She smiled, before dashing away.

"Shit, docs gonna be so pissed…"

Weaving through Night City's tunnels and abandoned underbelly the two managed to pace at a similar rate - much to the girls' dismay.

"Not gonna give up are you?" She voiced.

"That card belongs to a friend of mine!"

"I doubt it, bud. Only goons workin' for corpos got cards like this and you don't look like one. Trust me I'm doing you a favour." She teased.

"Listen here, why don't you give the card back and I won't have to bend you backwards!"

"OOoooh is that a threat or a promise? I'm much more flexible than that." She flicked before sweep-kicking David. The attack dropped him to the floor. The girl attempting to incapacitate him found that David was much more durable than she once thought.

Easily turning over and grabbing her he deflected any attack waved at him. Still struggling on the floor it was her flexibility that proved more impressive than David's Strength. The two pushed away and now once more standing.

"Look I'm not in the mood right now. Please just hand me the card and I'll forget this ever happened." David huffed.

"The same could be said, boy." Her hand now holding his weapon. Shocked David checked his belt only to find it missing.

"You got lucky." David spat.

"I'm just better, darling. No need to feel bad. Now back off." She voiced, only to receive a jump kick to the stomach. The gun jamming to shoot.

"Wasn't expecting that, huh," David murmured only to see the card broken.

"Damn…"

Pushed to the side once more attacks were made against one another, her slips within David's defence leaving him on the defence. While agile enough to block, he still buckled against the constant barrage of attacks. Retaliating with a single punch to the liver it instead hit a large bag filled with chips. Waving his hand in pain he jumped back in slight pain.

"You stupid idiot! You broke the other chips too!" She fumed, her bag now left ruined due to their scuffle.

"Hey, you started this!" David was exasperated, the constant attacks wearing him off.

"Damn it, now I've gotta restart my haul…" She murmured fuming.

"Screw it I've got bigger fish to fry… Let's hope we never meet!"

"Hoh look what we have here… Two lil teens twiddling their rumps in the shafts. Not doing dorphs together, are you? Did mummy and daddy get angwy at you two?" A voice heaved. Wearing neon red and black the voice slowly revealed a trio of armed females. Holding katanas, they paced around the two eying them.

"Fucking Tyga claws… Don't you fuckers have anything else better to do?"

"Now, now little one. That's what happens when you steal from us, a shame your Output broke the bag. Guess I'll take your body for payment instead." She stated, before pouncing towards the duo.

David grasping his pistol quickly fired a shot towards one of Tyga claw members, the bullet instantly piercing the shoulder of one and knocking her back. The luminescent girl reacting just as quickly opened her palms to reveal a neon wire that quickly sliced through the neck of one of the Tyga claws.

"Fuck kinda tech is that…" A Tyga claw member muttered fuming. Seeing David's shots rupture through their augmented synthetic skin easily startled them. The weapon was seemingly low calibre.

Pushing her hand open she quickly pounced towards him once more, her arm now revealed to be a mantis blade. The sharp crimson tips merely scratched Davids' hand. Merely aiming the barrel to the tip of her jaw he fired, the bullet travelling through the other end of her skull, killing her instantly. Splattering brain matter and blood on himself he moved towards the other targets.

His aim never faltered at the sight. The thief buckled and pressured by the remaining two Tyga Claw members was saved by David who shot them in the head, their bodies dropping to the floor. Heaving with her heart pacing she looked up to face David tensely.

"What now? Gonna kill me?" She questioned defiantly, her arms still raised with her nanowires pulled.

"If I wanted to I would've done it already. Look I'm tired. I'm gonna go home… and you should probably too."

Paused for a few moments she eventually lowered her guard to see David walk away. His gaze ignoring the disfigured corpses on the floor.

"Say I never got your name, hotshot?" The girl voiced from afar.

"Maybe next time, good lookin'," David heaved, revealing a smile before waving away. His figure slowly disappeared into the shadows. An ebony and purple jacket all that remained stuck to her eyes.

"Heh, what a day…"

Date: 21st of June, 2075

Location: America - Night City - Watson - Doom clerk

POV: Victor Von Doom

Sitting across from my desk sat Gustavo Orta and his minions. Loud vests, flashy gold cyber ware, heavy jewellery, tattoos of Santa Muerte and Jesus Malaverde – you'd have a hard time mistaking a Valentino when you saw one.

Armed lightly they arrived in a large group staunching the area like wasps against a bee hive. Most of their members parked discretely from prying eyes.

"I've already sent the bill Gustavo, I guess this is a complementary visit?" I voiced to the man. His gaze lingered around the clinic. A cigarette by his hand as he let the smoke linger about, the smell of nicotine easy to discern from the disinfectant.

"Nice place you have here Doctor. Not many can bolster such cleanliness. Real preem place you have here. I'm impressed." He discerned.

"I keep high standards," I answered.

"And great standard you have. You did a great favour, choom. For that, a mere thousand eddies isn't enough. You saved my girl." Gustavo Orta voiced, his men by his side as he exclaimed.

"Please, all is business. I am a Doctor." I announced sitting from my desk. On my right stood Jackie whose mood was kept vigilant, the sudden intrusion from his old boss a sight he'd never thought to see.

"I see that good ol' Jackie is with you, eh. He's paying well, is he? If you miss the glory, the Valentinos always welcome a soldier back." Gustavo reminded a smile plastered on his face at the imposing figure.

"I'm fine being here," Jackie replied.

"Not trying to steal my employee are you?" I questioned, his lackeys darting eyes to me.

"Hoh, no, no. Well maybe." He smiled cheekily.

"But like I was saying Doctor, you've done a great service to the Valentinos. We always pay our favours, always." He appointed.

"Then how about how this, you owe me a favour. Perhaps I may call to require something from you."

"Are you sure? We have many things we can pay you with, money, weapons, vehicles, cybernetics… Women?" He inquired.

"There need be no worry, Gustavo. I have no need for such things." I answered.

"Then have it your way. Be sure to remember my friend. My phone number is all yours. Oh, and I hope you keep such a matter between the few of us. Few know of that day, I pray that those secrets don't fall onto the wrong ears... Until next time, Victor." Gustavo reminded before exiting, his party following behind him.

Watching them disappear and slowly move back into the street I turned to face Jackie.

His brows were frowned deeply, sweat dripping from it due to the interaction. Keeping it cool he attempted to maintain stoic but failed under my gaze.

"Nervous?"

"Yeah… Been a while seeing old faces, you know. Was worried they were gonna drag me back."

"It's fine, I'm here." I voiced, walking inside my laboratory. Having experimented with magic first-hand, I found the energy to be quite volatile. Its inception allowed me to create the form mentioned artifacts and sigils of 'inscription' thereby tearing them to my soul.

What I lacked was actually creating proper means or in other words, mediums to contract this energy to properly conduct spells. As I heavily focused on 'self' my magic geared towards enhancing artifacts and myself.

Interacting with the world with my magic was highly limited, due to this. A remedy I would soon fix at another time. As currently I was focusing on expanding my influence in Night Cities underbelly. It wouldn't be confusing to gear towards the Valentinos as they processed the most numbers. Numbering over a thousand they held the most influence in Heywood.

The Chicana culture and music with golden attire are staples of their image. A much more approachable image to fuse towards than the others who were geared towards more violent means. With a favour owned it wouldn't be long for me to gain control over their territory. Slowly but surely as they would say.

Contacting the crew I decided to open shop to augmentations to the group of course with the heavy price following in. My wares would not be cheap, the economy had to be controlled of course. Balance was a requirement to ensure chaos didn't ensue. It would be quite the scene to see a group of Smashers wreaking havoc but that would be a contingency for another day.

Today Doom would follow another route of succession. Plastering the board, it was available to the group only. They would work for me and be rewarded with arms to better suit them. By increasing their fame and prestige they by extension also fueled mine. The Doctor would soon be synonymous with glory and valour - As any Fixer would be.

"What's the go boss?" Maine answered from the other side. The man sitting with his crew outside a bar eerily close to David's location. Seeing him walk past through Maine's eyes I heaved a little at the coincidence.

"I would like you to capture the target on the image board."

Mission: Extraction

Description: Your mission is to retrieve the target unharmed and return them back to the clinic. Failure to do so in time will result in no eddies rewarded. The location has been pinged and will be so until the end of the mission.

Retrieve target quietly - §2'000

"I'm guessing this kid has something to you? Some sort of experiment you tryna do to him?" Maine asked only to be called off. Waiting a moment I saw the mission accepted in a flash beat.

Perfect…

Calling David i quickly cautioned him.

"Hey Doc what's up?"

"You're being targeted by armed assailants. Your objective is to survive. My tip is that you try your best to run."

"Wait wha?"

"Oi! Kid wait up, let me show you something." A voice alerted on the other side.

"Good luck," I voiced, ending the call.

AN: Apologies for the delay Chooms, got bored and decided not to write for a bit but seeing the new DLC coming up I thought I'd start writing again or something.
