11 Chapter 10.5 - A Short Interlude.

Minato POV

It had not even been long before I'd reported to Tsunade about the kid who escaped from his cells and before I knew it, I heard the muffled sound of an explosion coming far away from the direction of Konoha. My face dropped as I quickly teleported over to one of my markers near the outer edge of Konoha.

Teleporting into the slums, I didn't see anything off about my immediate environment and yet I could hear screams in the distance which I followed.

Nearing the Hokage's office, I saw the never-ending flames engulfing the affluent part of Konoha. Women wearing pearl necklaces were wailing over the death of their children wearing expensive silk clothing. Even as I sensed around the wider area, The Hyuga's were crying as they tried everything, even to the point of restricting their clan members tenketsu thinking that this was a jutsu. This only caused more pain to their clan members as they got roasted to a crisp before the ones who touched them also caught on fire. I clenched my teeth as I thought about the only person who would be capable of doing this...The kid or the Uchiha and I'm more willing to put my money on the former.

My eyes started tearing up as I thought about the number of people dying from the wrongdoings of one kid...not even a teenager. If only we'd taken a softer approach...If only Tsunade didn't listen to Danzo's request but I'm sure he pressured her in some form, goddamn that fossilising geezer. This is his doing, he pushed a kid to his boundaries and this is the outcome.

One thing that I did find slightly strange however was the fact that the Uchihas had the least amount of deaths in this event.

(A/N: hehe I wonder what Fugaku's Mangekyou is since the 3rd shinobi war has already started and it's stated in the wiki that, the 3rd shinobi war is when he awakened his mangekyou. I wonder what would allow him to influence a never-ending flame...hmmm.)

Rushing between the mountains of flames around me, I pushed on towards the Hokage's office before finally reaching it. I saw a collection of Ninja around the Hokage office clenching their teeth with their hands on their mouths.

I followed their gazes upwards towards one of the windows and my mouth fell and a tear fell as I recognised who it was hanging out of the window with various shards of glass piercing through multiple parts of his body. Lord Third had a half-burned face. Behind him, the indiscernible parts of bodies littered the office indicating that it wasn't just the Hokage who died...

Around me, one of the Ninjas coated themselves in an earthen form as they jumped up and pulled the Hokage from the rubble. His eyes glanced around the room quickly noticing all the different pieces of clothing on fire including a black robe.

He returned to the ground with the Hokage's body before the earthen ninja's rock coating began burning. He hurriedly formed hand seals as his rock coating got thrown away leaving him okay.

Hiruzen seemed to be affected very little by the fire, only the shards seemed to affect him. It would seem that he managed to evade the majority of the flames that engulfed the office.

Suddenly his hand jerked as the Hokage grabbed my legs and pulled me down to his level,

"Mina...to. Listen. And Listen carefully, You have to take up the mantle of Hokage...this is...the will of fire..." He whispered in a hoarse voice as his body dropped.

I grabbed his shoulders as I nodded, accepting that someone had to take that role in this mass commotion. However, I began to sob,

"Lord third, stay with us! You can't go... you can't"

Narrator POV

Soon though, the Medic Nin came rushing through with Tsunade leading them. She gritted her teeth as she saw the Hokage's body and rushed to him as a green light covered her palms.

She placed her palms on his head and began healing him as the rest of the team pulled out medical equipment to remove the shrapnel within his body...

"Lady Tsunade, he's stabilised but it seems that his body is in critical condition...We need to rush him to the hospital immediately and carry out emergency surgery," one of the more qualified medic-nin spoke.

Tsunade noticed Minato in the group around the Office and called him over and asked if he could teleport them all to Hospital to which he nodded in confirmation.

Minato POV

Tsunade just walked out of the emergency operation room and looked at me tensely,

"He's going to be okay but...He's going to be asleep for a while. We think he may be in a coma for a year or so but even then, he may be paralysed for the rest of his life and he's definitely going to lose his hair. Oh and don't worry about the war front, Us three sannin managed to negotiate peace for the short-term between the nations."

I nodded at her answer, at least he's going to be okay and yet my face tensed at the idea of a bald Hiruzen in a wheelchair. Right now, my mind was in confusion at how I'd be Hokage now and the responsibilities that came with that role,

"Err...Lady Tsunade, He made me Hokage" I spoke. She stopped in her footsteps as I finished that sentence before she turned around and showed a gentle smile at me,

"You definitely deserve it Minato, don't forget that if you need help you can ask me or your sensei. After all, you're going to need it in these times."

I walked out of the hospital after seeing Lord Third and walked home...sigh this is going to be a tense couple of months, I should probably make a national memorial day to never forget the horrors that happened today. The terror that happened today...shall never occur again. So long as I am breathing, I will seal them away - even if it costs me my life. That is the Will of Fire.

(A/N: The People have spoken and so I wrote a small Interlude. Now, I'm going to get back to writing the actual story. I'll probably be finished writing vol.2 in a week or two. Peace out guys.)
