Iris

I didn't know what she was talking about. We weren't in the middle of another war. We were finally at peace and everyone here had been so nice to me. Some of them a little bit too nice. They couldn't be lying to us. I turned to look at Cora and the look on her face said it all. She had been hiding something, and her lie was about to be exposed. "She met my eyes, "I'm sorry Iris. It was the only way." My attention was drawn back to the woman recruiter.

"We recently received information that will change your minds about these people forever. What they haven't told you is that you both are the key to winning this war. You two are the most powerful of all the Gifted, and you two alone can save you're your fellow Gifted from being conscripted into our army and dying. They saved you for selfish reasons. They believed that you would fight alongside and take over the kingdom. But what they failed to realize is that King Noreck holds all the power in the world. Even with you two, your little army could not overthrow him. But, if you join us, we could win this war together and end the pain and suffering for your people once and for all. All you have to do is come with us."

I couldn't believe the words I was hearing. I trusted Cora and the Guard. But they betrayed me they all did. Cora and Noah betrayed me. Colin betrayed me. I couldn't understand. I had no idea what was really going on in his head. Did he really care about me or was everything he said a lie. I can't trust him anymore. The second I catch him in another lie I will call him out on it. I will not hesitate and he will wish that he never met me. Because when I'm angry, nothing good comes out of it. Anyone can betray anyone.
