Things in life aren't always what they seem, and Fenwick's betrayal proved that. Although I didn't know him, learning about what he did, and witnessing his reaction when we confronted him, was shocking. I feel like the truth slapped me across the face and woke me up from a deep sleep. It made me realized the true reality of my situation. You can only rely on yourself. Because anyone can betray anyone. I can't trust Hunter, Cora, Noah and I especially can't trust Calvin after what he pulled. Because of him I got stranded in the forest and was almost abducted. He knew I was with Hunter and he still declared his love for me in the most unconventional way possible. I really wasn't looking forward to seeing him.

I had just finished helping Cora interrogate the two Recruiters. They didn't have much more information than what I had gotten out of them earlier, so we ended it early and I decided to go back to the barracks. When I got there Hunter was sleeping on one of the bunks, so I decided to leave him alone and go take a shower. I was still soaking wet and dirty with mud. I stripped off my wet clothes and stepped into the shower. I let the warm water run down my body, cleansing me of any mud. I took a deep breath and finally relaxed for the first time in days. It felt like the hot water was washing all of my problems away, and leaving only happy memories behind. I just stood there for a while enjoying the peace that came so rarely.

After I finished scrubbing away all the mud, I put on a fresh pair of clothes from the drawers and climbed into bed with Hunter. I hadn't realized how exhausted I was. Hunter must have felt my presence because he turned around to face me and gave me a kiss on my forehead, "Hey, Iris. I was worried about you after you didn't come back last night. Where were you?" I let out a sigh, "That's a story for tomorrow. I'm too exhausted to stay awake any longer. Just go back to sleep and we'll talk about it later. Everything's fine, okay. Don't worry." He nodded his head his arms around me bringing me closer to him.

At least after everything that happened today, I can still be comforted by Hunter. I snuggled closer to him and closed my eyes.
