We Are In This Together
The evening was quiet to human ears, but the screams of agony and despair were heart-trembling. They still rang in the pairs of ears, as loud as the bell that struck the local church.
Outside Addis' home, a group sat in the garden with exhausted bodies and numb minds. Lina and Sylvia were in the kitchen preparing tea for everyone. Nobody had eaten anything in the day. They couldn't.
The two women stood in the window, watching the group with worried faces.
"What happened today is so unfortunate, Sylvia. It shouldn't have happened."
"Yes, it shouldn't," Sylvia spoke, her eyes trained only on Corbin.
"But how that fire died down is a mystery to me."
Lina's next words made Sylvia snap her attention to the woman beside her. Feeling alert, Sylvia asked, "What do you mean?"
