Corbin could barely sleep after the fire in the farms. He had bags under his eyes, and his mind was always in chaos.
He woke up early in the morning, and after finishing his daily routine, he decided to go out and meet his friends. His mind was all over the place, and only his friends could provide the support he needed.
He stepped out of his room and was passing by his uncle and aunt's room. But his steps faltered as he overheard their hushed conversation as they sat on their bed, their faces etched with sorrow and worry. Corbin hadn't meant to eavesdrop, but he had happened to be there in time to catch a snippet of their conversation.
"I don't know how we're going to make ends meet, Lincoln," Selma said, her voice trembling with exhaustion and despair. "Everything we've worked for is gone."
