Being poor sucks

In a small, dingy apartment filled with trash bags one can see a chubby teenager hunched over and vigorously feasting on the contents of the refrigerator.

Nothing was left intact; Fruits, vegetables, and even meat were all devoured without any remorse.

Finally, after the contents of the fridge were all empty, the teenager rested on the floor. After a couple of minutes of attempting to swallow all the food, the teenager started crying.

"I'm... alive", the teen muttered. "Oh how great it is to be alive again. To hear and see the world again, and to taste delicacies again!", the teen shouted.

He ran to a nearby window, ignoring the trash bags, and simply opened the glass as if it was by instinct. Feeling the warm sun bathe his face in light and the cool wind wash over him, he could not help but laugh at the wonders of life.

A week had passed since the man had been transmitigated into the body of a chubby teenager. The man had decided to take on the name of the teenager, Kei Natsume, since he had already forgotten his own name.

Kei was silently looking up at the ceiling after waking up from his bed.

'I should stop playing around'.

Kei quickly jumped out of bed and went into the bathroom to do his morning routine. Once that was done, he simply sat back down on the sofa and looked around the room.

The original Kei was a shut-in, who lived on his own. However, judging by the state of the house and the eviction notice on the floor, he did not properly take care of it.

His parents weren't actually dead, in fact Kei was able to acquire the crappy apartment thanks to them, however they weren't exactly good people. They constantly bullied him for his physicality , especially compared to his handsome older brother and gorgeous younger sister. His sister mainly ignored him and was most likely embarrassed by Kei based on what the man could see from the memories. In fact, it was his brother who treated like an actual member of the family.

Kei was bullied at school as well, with his siblings and parents not doing anything about it. It was during the last day of school, when a particularly malicious prank had been done to Kei, that he decided to finally move out of his parent's place and into the crappy parents.

Browsing through the memories, the new Kei could only sigh at the misfortune experienced by the old body.

The old Kei spent most of the money that were given by his parents on manga, and video games, not even bothering to save for rent or bills. When Kei had run out of money to indulge in his body, he decided to sell some of the furniture.

While he was browsing through the apartment, looking for something to sell, Kei found a mysterious black box. For some unknown reason, Kei believed that the box held a mysterious power that would change his life, so he foolishly opened. Immediately, a black arm sprouted from the black box and grabbed Kei... no, it grabbed his soul. Out from Kei's body, the black arm pulled out a blue orb-like object before disappearing with the orb immediately after that.

'I see... this body really did live an unfortunate life. His soul was stolen four days before I entered the body, and no one even bothered to check on him', the new Kei did feel bad for the old one, however in the end he was technically millions of years old, so he really did not care about getting vengeance for the body or anything like that.

Kei quickly grabbed, a book form the small table in front of him. On the cover was a picture of a yellow-haired boy wearing an orange jacket. The boy was biting on what looked to be a scroll, and making a handsign.

"Naruto, by Masashi Kishimoto", Kei recalled, from his memories. "The story of an ostracized boy's dream to becoming the Hokage of his village".

Just like this, Kei scrolled through numerous other books on the table and recalled important information about them from his memories.

After going through all the books, Kei stretched his limbed before picking up the eviction notice. 'Sigh, I have to get a job... and clean up the place... and pay the bills... and buy food... and'

Growing frustrated at his growing to-do list, "Aaargh, goddamnit you shitty NEET! How come you get to frolic in some fantasy world, while I have to stay and clean up your shit", Kei yelled, recalling some more information from his memories.
