Happiness is a butterfly

The next morning arrived with a warm sun that healed and detoxified the horror of the previous day. Jacquelyn opened her eyes, first blink... second... then she turned her body to the side and saw Kael resting just beside her, with his eyes closed but his two hands behind his head.

Jacquelyn could still remember the events of the previous day, but it wasn't so clear. It felt as though it had all been a long bad dream, and she just woke up. And this was the next day after she left the castle with Kael. Whatever it was that happened the previous day, Jacquelyn wanted it to be hidden forever at the back of her mind.

She turned properly, looking at Kael's face. She wanted to touch his nose and lips, but she didn't want to disturb his sleep, so she propped her head with her hand and stared longingly at Kael.

Jacquelyn stayed like that for a long time, until she didn't know when she fell back asleep.
