Upon hearing Xu Hui's words, both elders managed to calm themselves down. Elder Long recognized that this wasn't the appropriate setting for a conflict, and as an elder, it would be rather embarrassing to let others witness such discord. Despite his irritation with Bai Sheng, he acknowledged that the timing wasn't right. Warning Bai Sheng, he declared, "Consider yourself fortunate this time, thanks to Xu Hui's intervention. But be mindful, there won't be a next time." 

Bai Sheng, with a sneer, retorted, "Save your empty threats. Do you think I'm afraid of you? If you're up for it, let's settle it." Xu Hui hastily turned to Elder Bai and implored, "Please, Elder, refrain from provoking Elder Long at this moment. For my sake, let's put a pause on this." Bai Sheng coldly snorted and declared, "I'll hold off for now, but make sure he understands I'm not afraid of a confrontation if he seeks one." With that, he fell silent.
