CHAPTER 243: THE LOVE OF A MOTHER

Yes, what her mother said was right. She had struggled all by herself with the two of them. The woman did everything in her power to make them happy. So that at least they wouldn't feel that they were not like other kids but now, she couldn't even tell what made her reach this point. She had never seen a male figure in their house but her mother made sure to be also their dad.

Her mom had been warning her all through about assisting herself with boys but she gave her a deaf year.

She ignored her and thought that her mother was stupid and didn't love her the way she loved her sister but now, she could see for herself. The woman was right all along but she didn't listen to her. How she regretted it now. But the milk was already spilt.

How she pitied her mom right now.

She could see herself in her shoes. The lady didn't deserve this at all. She thought but all of this was the future now.

Since they were young, Lydia had only known her mother with no other relative around, not even their grandma whom they didn't know. She was a mother, a sister, a brother, a father, a grandma and everything to them. But look now, she had failed her tremendously. She had failed her mother who was her superwoman. But all this time, she hadn't realized it. Why now?

What she did next made the two of them flinch at the point.

They couldn't believe that Lydia would lower herself no matter who it was. She didn't care if it was her mom. But today, things were different.

Lisa and Diana were shocked to their bones by her sudden action.

Lydia collapsed on the floor and touched her mother's toes while crying her eyes out. She was also low towing on her mother's feet.

This was new and they all didn't expect her to do that.

She had been a bad child to the woman she had just realized that she was the only one who loved her unconditionally.

No matter how many times she had disrespected her mother, the woman would always have her back, "Mom please forgive me. I have just realized that I have been wrong all this time. I am sorry mum. M-mum... I..am sorry" Lydia blurted out pitiful while putting her head on her mother's feet, "The two of you are the only people who love me truly no matter how many times I have been behaving childish, but the two of you have never given up on me. Forgive me, mum. How I wish I can rewind all of this, but it is too late for me now" Lydia cried her heart out making Lisa cry too by the state her sister was in.

Lisa was the kindest of the two girls and she had the softest heart and that is the reason why she was easy to cry.

Diana was still in a trance.

She didn't know what she should say right now. Countless emotions were going through her heart right now tears were the only words that could come out of her eyes. Because words stuck in her throat.

She was in pain as she looked at the girl on the floor.

Was she wrong in raising her?

She believed that she had loved her two adorable twins equally. Was there a day that she did something for Lisa but not for Lydia? Why now were the events changing like this?

This was a twist of fate!

What was she to say now?

She couldn't kill her because she was her dear daughter, could she? She didn't know what to say or do.

She was tongue tide she was in a dilemma.

She wanted to lash out at her but she couldn't. She wanted to beat the hell out of her but she couldn't because she would end up killing the girl because right now, she was consumed by anger. She wanted to pour all her anger on her but she knew if she did that, she would end up losing her daughter completely.

Diana knew the repercussions of lashing all sought of insults to a person. It ended in lowering the self-esteem of the person which led to a person changing completely which she didn't want.

She wanted to...agree!

Yes, she wouldn't finish that statement as more tears rushed down her eyes.

Lydia was clenching her toes and she was not ready to let her go yer. She wanted her forgiveness. She didn't know what to do apart from this. This was the only thing she could do right now.

She had disappointed her mom. Even though she knew her mother never expected anything from her, but still this was wrong.

Why did she allow that man to do this to her? She knew that her mother was not rich like then and if she tried to shout at them or do anything, her mother might be imprisoned by those rich people.

Ooh my! Lydia pitted herself and her mother.

Her mother was one in a million.

Which mother would go as far as being insulted by her child but still keep quiet without taking any action?

Which mother would endure the hate that Lydia now realized that it was childish but still give that person a present? Which mother would be disrespected in front of a school meeting but still forgive her child and forget? Because that was what Lydia did the previous year but her mom still forgave her.

She had asked her mother about her father in front of everyone at the school meeting.

While she knew well that she had not seen her father in the house all these years, she still asked to embarrass the lady.

She made her mother a laughing stock in the eyes of people of a different calibre.

She didn't budge an eye while asking such a question in front of teachers, parents and her fellow students plus her sister making her mother the gossip of the day.

Lisa was the one who consulted her mother that day, but Lydia didn't even look at her. Some of the people from that day never respected her mother at all. But Lydia didn't care at all. She looked happy about the outcome of her stupidity.

Despite all of that, Diana didn't judge her in fact, she would always try to please bother them. Which mother could endure all of that? But Diana did.

After all, she had a golden heart.

Lydia could now see the importance of having a mother.

The gap could be very huge if her mother was not around.

She was very stupid to embarrass her because the woman denied taking them to the cemetery, where their dad was buried but now, she could see how foolish she had been all along. But still, the damage had been made. The regret was still killing her.

Lydia felt like disappearing into thin air or just dying and avoiding this embarrassment. The environment was very tense in the bathroom.

"Whose baby is that?" Finally, Diana composed herself and asked the question that was squeezing her throat all this while. She wanted to know that good for nothing boy, who didn't think about the repercussions of his shameful action. She couldn't sit here and watched people ruining her child's future.

That question, even though it was hard for Lydia to answer, at least finally, just finally her mother talked to her. After the long silence between them.

She thought that the woman would be annoyed with her and bellowed but she was wrong. Despite the anger that consumed Diana, she decided to be wise.

But then would Lydia mention the name of that boy?

By that time, Lisa had sauntered to where her mum was and was already consulting her. She could see the anger and betrayal on her mother's face.

It was the third time Diana to cry in front of her children. That day when they their dad came without their knowledge, at the graveyard and then now.

But Lisa could see that today was different. She could feel a little sympathy in those clear eyes of her mom. The woman was in shock portrayed in those eyes.

Why did her sister do that?

Why did she care about her wellbeing?

Why didn't she wait for the right time? Because she could remember her teacher telling them that there would be a time for all that.

Lisa knew exactly why her mother was this sad. She was too and that was because of the shame their sister had caused them.

She knew the people of this area.

They would blame her mother that was because she was a single mother.

Lisa just shook her head in disbelief.

She was quiet all along but she also knew how her mother was being discriminated against just because she had no husband. But her mother was strong. The woman never showed her children her weak side ever.

Lisa recalled that day when her mother was returning home from the market.

'A husband snatcher!'
