Chapter Two - The Queen

I look around the room before my eyes settle on my older sister's pale face staring at me, both her mouth and eyes open wide in shock.

"What? Never seen a queen before?" I can't help the dark chuckle that escapes as I taunt Aviana, knowing she always thought I was just an innocent child who didn't know what I was doing with my life.

"I have, Eliza, but they all deserved the title. That's really not you, is it?" She quips, knowing exactly how to get under my skin.

"Aviana, you're too old to be snarky. That's reserved for children and teenagers, you're nearly 600 years old dear sister." I smirk as I pull out the large object hiding behind my back.

"I-Is that what I think that is?" My sister's face visibly morphs into a terrified expression as she sees me holding the familiar sword to her neck.

"Of course it is. Where did you think it went? No one would have forgotten about father's prized sword and no one would have dared to steal it. He gave it to the next ruler, just as he knew he was dying."

"That would have been me though. I'm the oldest child and I inherited the throne. I'm the High Queen now. You're far from that. You're just the lowly Queen of Hell and that's all you'll ever be."

I look to the corner of the throne room where my dragon Oswald currently sits with his gaze burning into the back of my sister's head. Aviana's gaze follows my own and she audibly gulps, seemingly understanding my silent threat. "You're talking pretty confidently for someone who has a sword held against her throat, you know. I might not be High Queen right now but trust me when I say that one day I'll be on that throne, ruling over everything."

"You're fifth in line Eliza."

"You see, that's where my plan comes into place."

I can see the confusion as it creeps onto Aviana's face and it makes me laugh that I finally know something that she doesn't. As I look into her eyes, her face falls and I laugh at how scared she is of me.

"Poor Aviana doesn't know what you're telling her Ellie. Maybe we should put it in a much more fun way instead and really get our point across to your sister." I hear the deep voice from behind me and smile, knowing automatically who it is. My sister's face is visibly confused now, trying to find where she knows the voice from.

"W-who are you?"

"You don't remember me Avie? I'm disappointed, especially since you and your darling sister Brooke put a knife through my heart with no remorse."

My sister's face pales as she comes to the realisation of who she's talking to. "S-Sammy? How are you still alive? I held you as you died."

"The same reason that you killed me darling. My father is the devil."

"Even your father is smart enough to know not to mess with death, especially when the person he's messing with was executed by the High Courts."

"But I wasn't executed by the High Courts, was I? You and Brooke crept into me and Eliza's room and stabbed me as I slept because you knew I was innocent, you knew you wouldn't have justification for executing your little sister's husband. Not while she was pregnant and we were both under your mother's protection, you were just lucky that Eliza was in Damon's study or you would've died almost 100 years ago."

Aviana's face falls under my harsh glare, knowing I won't hesitate to kill her for what she did to Sam all those years ago. I have the means to end her life as well; when my husband finishes speaking, I increase the pressure of the sword on her throat to the point where she has a visible mark on her neck that is lined with a few drops of blood.

"So tell me Eliza, how exactly do you plan on taking my throne?"
