Crow's Lost Memories

Corvin is a boy who grew up with dreams of changing the world. Humanity is in the brink of civilization changing revolutions. As the waves of turmoil create change, he gets the chance and connections to lead the change of his homeland along with his friends. Will he be able to change the world in the way he wants during the industrial revolution of his planet, or will he fail as he uncovers the truth about reality and his real identity? A/N: This is my first work, and just a simple hobby of mine but I do take it seriously. I want to keep some parts of it different from the rest like how the magic works, and I know it may turn out more complicated than classic game-esque magic, I still like that kind of worldbuilding. I appreciate constructive criticism. I am going to regularly release a chapter every two days if nothing goes wrong.

C32- The Destruction of Piscea (3)

After Felyp calmed Noah down, Noah realized something his father said.

"Hm? The Emperor is sending help?"

"Yes."

"How?"

"He is sending the army."

"Army... Wh-why is the army in the north?"

"Well, the reason is gone for now. The first priority is to stop these monsters from attacking the Empire's territory. That's why, the Imperial Army is going to aid the Piscean city states if they let the army inside. Of course, there won't be wars, if a state refuses, the Army will position soldiers near the border to stop any monsters that might come. We aren't invading the north, and the army isn't ready to invade anywhere yet anyways."

Noah nodded his head, but his complexion didn't get much better. He understood what his father knew but chose not to tell.

'Yet... The Army was preparing to invade somewhere. It's in the north and isn't Piscea... That leaves only one sensible choice, but if a war breaks out there, then a war with the Repits is also guranteed...'

Noah clenched his teeth and fist in anger.

'Again... Just because an emperor wanted it, people are going to die...'

But he soon stopped showing his true emotions to not let his father notice them.

"So, is this ugly polar bear, the uuh... what did you guys name it?"

"The Plaguehorn."

"Yes, the Plaguehorn. Is this it?"

"Yes."

"What are you two waiting for then?"

"Waiting?"

"Yeah, why didn't you loot the corpse already? You gotta take whatever you can and hope it doesn't go away. When you kill a colossus especially, don't let any part disappear."

"Right... Then, what should we do?"

"Just watch me for this time. Also, tell me, what parts do you think would be good? Are there any certain strenghts of this monster?"

Corvin thought for a minute and answered to Felyp, who was now in front of the colossus corpse that was cut in half.

"It's horns are probably special, they were spewing out a flammable gas... The bones are really really hard and the fur is definitely fireproof."

"Hmm... I see... Then, after I loot this thing, we are going to have a talk with you, hopeless disciple."

"What, hopeless? What did I do?"

"I will tell you later. Come on you two, watch me now. I will show you how to dissect a monster corpse."

Felyp unsheathed his sword Mordais and heated it up until it shone brightly.

"The bones are amazing. They are hard like metal, really strong ones, but also light... No, they are really just metal, look at this.", he said, as he melted the bones with his magic.

"This is really good material. Then let's test the fur."

He cut a piece of the fur with his blazing hot sword. The fur curled but didn't burn.

"Hmm... It has water inside somehow, so it curls after it gets drier, but still very useful. Then let's come to the horns."

He cooled down his sword and sheathed it again. He took out a knife and started to take out the horns. Soon after, the horns came out. The horns were hollow all the way to the end like a curved tube.

"The horns aren't that hard, probably can be used as an ingredient for things. That girl, Amy, was a pharmacist, right?"

"Yes. She can use organic chemical magic."

"Great, if these horns don't disappear, then give these to her.", said Felyp, and placed the horns down.

"Then, let's get some more bones and fur from this thing.", he added, and started cutting the corpse.

After about an hour, most of the useful parts of the corpse was seperated from it. Felyp stopped cutting the corpse more and looked at what he gathered.

On the ground were the horns of the monster, eight rolls of fur, twenty claws from the paws and various bones.

"This is enough. If you destroy the corpse too much, everything will disappear, so you need to leave something that can count as a corpse. Never forget that rule, okay? Don't be greedy. Now, Corvin, let's have a talk while the loot decides if it's going to disappear or not, okay?"

"Y-yes. What is it about, master?"

"Oh? You didn't realize? It's about your sword... or what's left of it."

Gulp

"Wh-what about it?"

"Why did it shatter? Did you hold it wrong?"

"N-no, I-I used it to create a weakness."

"Did it work?"

"Ye-yes. Noah was able to cut the monster in half with that weakness."

"Oh! That's great! And here I thought you messed up somehow. I was going to leave you here alone for training if you did!"

Felyp smiled while saying so. Corvin could only be thankful for everything working out.

"Well then, let's go back to the campfire. I want to talk with my son and you. Lately I have been really busy and I didn't have the time to chat, you see."

"Yes, master. Shall I tell you about the date between Noah and Clair?"

"Oooohh, we have development there? I didn't think my son would do it! Definitely tell me..."

For the next few hours, the three chatted around the campfire. After a while, the colossus' corpse started to crumble and disappear.

"Look, it started. Let's see what parts are left after this disappears."

The three watched as the corpse slowly started to crumble into dust and then disappear. One of the horns disappeared, followed by half of the fur. Among the bones Felyp gathered, two long bones and three vertebrae survived the corpse disintegration.

"Well, that is a great harvest. I will take a fur roll and a vertebrae for taking the corpse apart, the rest is yours."

"Really?!", the two shouted in unison.

"Yes. Look, the fur became white after it dried. I will find someone to make light armour from those for you. And, Corvin, I will get a sword made from these bones, do you want one too?"

"Yes!"

"Okay, well, these long one would be for your sword then. Give the horn to Amy and the rest of the bones to Clair when we get back. Now, let's go back to Celati tomorrow. Go to sleep for now."

And the three went to sleep.

That day, because of Felyp's letter, the emperor decided to send military aid to the Piscean city states at the cost of delaying the invasion of the Septen Kingdom.

According to Felyp, postponing the invasion would bear better results. Felyp stated that, a new weapon will be created by the Flarum's in the near future, that would change warfare forever.

Felyp wrote that, if the Emperor started the invasion now, becuase of the harsher than normal winter, it would be impossible for mages to stop the army from freezing to death, and also that his son was in Piscea and the possible danger that came from the north.

As the Emperor postponed the invasion, for now, peace is still present around the Maers sea.
