Chapter Twenty Five: Testing Magic and Race Info

Chrono bows, and Eris grabs one of the books Lulu retrieved, and starts reading. The first book she starts reading is one entitled Magic Basics; Conjuring, Controlling, and Casting. The first few paragraphs say this, "Magic is about feeling and visualization. In order to cast magic spells, one needs to feel the magic energy flowing through their bodies. For most beings, magic energy is centered at their hearts, also called their magic cores. The bones, arteries, and veins are the conduits through which magic energy travels. The more magic energy one has, the fast it circulates through their bodies. This flow also creates an aura around the magic user that can be used to show off one's magic power or intimidate anyone with lower amounts of magic. One can also transmit their emotion into their aura. This is called Empathic Magic. One can use this to infuse malice into their magic energy and frighten their opponents. The next step is visualizing the spell that one is trying to cast. In order to use magic, one must picture what they are trying to do in their heads and then apply the necessary amount of magic energy. Many use a chant or an incantation to help them better visualize the spell."

"Hm… the magic energy flows through the bones, arteries, and veins?" she whispers to herself, "I guess I'll give this a shot."

Eris closes her eyes and concentrates. She starts to feel a strange warmth inside of her heart, which she assumes to be her magic power. She takes in a deep breath, and then forces that warmth through her bones, arteries, and veins, all of which she knew the precise locations of in her body through the studying she did while she was on Earth. She can feel the same warm energy within her heart spreading through her body. The more she concentrates, the faster and the more the warmth spreads.

Meanwhile, outside of her mind, many of Eris' castle's inhabitants are not able to remain standing with the exception of the vampire's commander forces. There's an overwhelming force coming from within the castle that has most of Eris' subordinates on their knees. Hadrian currently has his hand resting on the wall while trying to resist the pressure coming from his vampiric master, and the same goes for Raven.

"What the hell… is the empress doing?" asks Hadiran, struggling to keep himself standing.

"Well… If she was testing her physical strength with Lucina… she must be testing her magical prowess right now," explains Raven, struggling just as much has her draconic ally.

"I understand wanting to test out her power. But her aura is going to scare the hell out of any monster or human within a kilometer of the castle."

Back in the library, Eris' body is giving off a powerful aura that resembles a giant mass of crimson flames surrounding her body. Chrono and Melina, being the closest ones to her, are having the hardest time trying to stay standing. Both of Eris' subordinates have their hands on the table and struggling looks on their faces.

"E… Empress! Please…. Control your aura!" says Chrono.

Eris is snapped out of her deep concentration and looks over at the archdemon to find him almost on his knees. The vampire looks over at Lulu to find her in the same position. Finally she looks at her own body to find that she's surrounded by a crimson red aura. Eris quickly goes back to concentration, but this time she focuses on bringing in the magic energy that surrounded her body. After a few moments, the red flames are absorbed into the vampire's body and the pressure throughout Eris' castle disappears. Chrono, Lulu, and the rest of Eris' subordinates all breathe a sigh of relief, almost at the same time.

"Are the two of you alright?!" Eris asks in a frantic manner.

"We're fine. Your aura is just really powerful. I'm glad that you haven't lost any of your magic power in all these years," answers Chrono.

The vampire also breathes a relieved sigh, decides that she needs to be more careful from now on, and then moves on with her next test. Now she plans to cast one of her magic spells. She concentrates, and this time when she circulates her magic energy, she's sure to keep it within her instead of releasing her aura. Then she envisions the spell that she wants to cast. She holds out her hand, with her palm facing upwards, and a ball of crimson red flames appears over it. The ball starts out with the size of a baseball, but as she applies more power, it grows to the size of a basketball. She opens her eyes to see that huge ball of flames and then quickly dispels it, assured that she can cast other spells similarly, especially since she memorized the incantations as well as what most of the spells looked like in the game.

She smiles confidently, and then opens up another book entitled Vampires; History, Abilities, and Evolutions. She looks at the index of the book and finds the section for Vampire Eclipse Gods/Goddesses located on the two hundredth page. Eris flips through the pages of the thick book and finds what she's looking for.

What she reads is as follows, "Very little is actually known about Vampire Eclipse Gods/Goddesses. According to the legend, the first vampires to be born from the goddess of war and death was a Vampire Eclipse God and Goddess pair and they are also the most powerful of the vampire evolutions. They stop aging at 18 years of age and like all vampires, they are immortal entities. These progenitor vampires are known to be just as cunning and manipulative as other vampires, and are also known to be embodiments of the seven deadly sins. They are prideful, arrogant of their own power, but being that the full scope of their abilities is not yet known, it is possible that this arrogance is not unfounded. In terms of temperament, they have a short fuse, and are known to go on wrathful rampages. They are gluttonous, often consuming much more blood than the average vampire. They are greedy, and often desire a lot, whether it be blood, power, land, and other things. They are envious, they often want what others have. They are also known to be quite lazy/slothful until something irritates them. And finally, Vampire Eclipse Gods/Goddesses are known to be quite lustful, even more so than other vampires. Often taking multiple lovers at a time regardless of race or gender."

Eris looks over the information with interest, but her face becomes flushed red as she reads the final few sentences and she thinks to herself, "Oh my god! Why did I choose this evolution?! I thought that I'd be strong but I didn't think that my race would be this bad. My thirst for blood that's described in this book has already been happening. I really hope I don't develop the other traits of my race."
