The Aftereffects 02

After tossing and turning for an hour, he tossed the sheets then walked towards his office. He then turned on his laptop to help distract his mind.

He work for almost two hours but would occasionally blank out then snapped himself back to present and work once more. This happened for another hour or so. Finally realizing he couldn't really concentrate and finish his job, he abruptly stood up.

He changed his clothes into a casual attire. He wore a sky blue shirt with black pants and wore a pair of white running shoes. He took his car keys, phone and wallet and made his way towards his garage.

He left his house an hour after Reen left their house, missing his opportunity to meet her then.

Reen on other hand after leaving their house discreetly paid the fare and went down the taxi then went inside the cemetery. It was a chilly morning yet Reen who was slowly walking towards her family's grave did not feel any of such coldness.

Upon seeing their grave, she smiled happily but as she was still pale in the face and was rather weak her smile seems as if it was forced.

She sat in front of the grave as she placed the book on her lap. A tree was planted near the grave. As it was still early in the morning the tree's shade darken her surroundings making the surrounding gloomier than normal.

"Hi mom, bro, sis… It's been a long since I last visited. I think it's been more than a month?"

She started saying while staring at the grave and caressing it. She started coughing lightly at first then it became severely. It was especially loud in this quiet hour. She leaned on the tree as she told them the things that happened these past few days.

"You know, I actually had an accident last time." She slowly said

"They said I was fine, that my body was fine…." She paused as she looked at the twinkling stars. She suddenly saw a shooting star but no joy could be seen from her eyes.

"But I knew... I knew that I wasn't fine... I started vomiting blood and my insides started hurting. I occasionally feel suffocated as though something got stuck on my chest and I couldn't breathe especially when I remember that b*tch and the b*stard!"

She said the last part not with anger but as though merely having a normal conversation with them.

A strong breeze passed by as though in answer to her monologue.

"I knew… if I don't hurry, everything would be too late. I needed to kill her… kill her before it was too late. After everything is too late…" She repeated as though she was on a trance.

"I tried my best to be strong… for you all… for dad, mom and Mirly… for my friends and all those that love me… I tried my best to be really strong for myself too you know… for Uoron…"

Mentioning Uoron's name, she could not help the deep regret and sadness from her voice to escape. She then continued by telling them all the interactions and her feelings towards Uoron while occasionally pausing as she cough.

"You know, I finally realize that… I guess sometimes the best is never enough..." She said as her heart and mind became empty of any emotion or feeling.
