Chapter fourty-one

Slowly Felix woke up. It took him a second to recognise the room he was in. He was looking up at Ms Archwood's smiling face.

"Welcome back, Felix."

"What...happened?"

"Your...beta, I think he said he was, brought you. He told me you fainted out of nowhere. Thus I did some tests on you. Oh, and there was this other boy too, but don't worry, we didn't talk in his presence. You have a really sweet beta."

Felix smiled to himself, "Thank you ms Archwood. You said you did some tests?"

"Yes, yes I did. I was just about to test your reflexes. Would you mind?"

Felix let the middle-aged woman finish her job. After she was all done she took a chair and sat down next to the examination table on which Felix was still seated.

"So, Felix."

"Yes, ma'am?"

"I tested everything. I guess you'd like to know the results, sweety?"

"Ehm...please."

"Your reflexes were working just good, exceptionally even. Your blood pressure was too high, both. As was your heartbeat. But I could see that one easing with every passing minute. You had a burning fever too, something I don't really see in a fainted client most of the time. But that one's gone thankfully. And you were fully covered in sweat," she paused. Felix could see the doubt on her face.

"What is it?"

"All your symptoms eased by the passing of time. Felix?"

"Yes?"

"Why are you letting yourself suffer this much?"

Felix was shocked by what she said. He looked at her as if she asked him if he could feed her pet unicorn.

"I don't quite understand. Why would you think I'd let myself suffer? It was just an attack."

"How much time has passed since you met them?"

Felix had a faint suspicion as to what she was referring to.

"What are you talking about?"

She sighed, shaking her head. "Stop lying to yourself," then she looked through the window to the waiting room, where Jisung was sitting.

"You've just created a new pack. Instead of taking responsibility just as your beta did, you try to put your mating instincts away," Felix wasn't sure anymore what the doctor was talking about, "How'd you feel if your beta didn't accept it but neglected his mate? If he was going through pain and on the verge of getting into heat?

Your pack is still young. They need you. And you need your mate."

"Sorry, excuse me?" Felix asks shaking his head in confusion.

"Don't neglect your mate, you-"

"No, I got that part. I'm trying to find my mate for a couple of weeks miss. But until this morning without seeds."

"Then what part did you not get?"

"You we- my-Jisung," after seeing his doctor's questioning look he added, "My beta. You said something about him and...a mate?"

"Yeah? What about him? Don't you like his mate? He looked like a sweet guy to me, caring. Literally, he carried you in," after seeing the look on Felix's face she gasped.

"Y-you didn't know?" it's a sentence that should normally be a question. But there was an undertone. She knew the answer.

Felix got up and turned back towards her afterwards, "I'll try to get to my mate. I'm not going through heat by choice. Thank you, ms Archwood."

She nodded and smiled sadly, "You're welcome sweety. And..."

"Yes?"

"He must've had a reason not to tell you. I'm sure he will when the time's ripe."

Felix smiled back, "Of course, he will. I'll give him space."

And after this, he left to join his friends in the waiting room.

"Lixie!" Jisung yelled as he got up to hug his best friend, "What did she say?"

"Nothing to worry about, Ji. But there is something else you should worry about."

"What?"

"Mr Stale will kill us if we're not on time for economy class."

"Holy duck! I totally forgot. Let's go!"

As they ran out of the office Felix saw the hands of the two boys in front of him brush for a second. And smiled to himself. I told you it was fate, didn't I?

"Like it or not, you're his. Better act like it instead of hurting the boy."

"I'm as much his as he is mine."

"No, no you're not. The only reason you bit him is that you can't fucking stand someone having the upper hand on you. Admit it. Yeah, you made him. But that doesn't change the fact you are his."

"Minho, pick up your mouth."

"You know I'm right. Fucking deal with it," Minho spits, turning around and leaving the dance studio after slamming the door shut.

Leaving a shirty Changbin behind.

As he walks in the hallway he bumps into a rather familiar boy.

"Sorry, hyung! I didn't see you coming."

"It's ok, Jake. Don't you need to be in class, though?"

"Yeah, that's why I'm in such haste. I'm fucking late, man. Miss is gonna have my head. Such a bummer, I'd prefer for her to give one instead of taking mine."

Minho couldn't keep his laugh in at the behaviour of the younger boy.

"Oh my gosh, before I forget about it. I'm having a party to celebrate my 18th birthday. "

"18th birthday?" Minho asked shocked.

"Don't think Jeongin's the only smart one. Riki too, by the way," he answered the older, smiling sheepishly, "Anyways, I'd love for you to come too. If you do, you can ask one of your roomies for my address or just come with them? I hope to see you then! Gotta catch class, though," and with that Jake run away.
