Chapter fourty-four

"We'll leave in a second," says Minho.

"Why?"

"He should know what he called upon himself," Minho answers grinning.

"So, what do you want me to do?"

"Wait here for a sec," Minho answers and leaves. A minute later he comes back with a glass, "I don't know what this is," he says looking confused at the glass, "but everyone's drinking it so I hope you like it."

Felix laughs at that. "Thanks, hyung, I'm sure it'll be tasty." They talk and laugh for a couple of more seconds when Minho stiffens.

"We gotta go now," he says.

"Why?" Felix asks looking around.

"He's getting mad," Minho says under his breath, "I'll bring you home, Felix, and come back afterwards."

Felix was about to question this but didn't. Soon Minho dragged him out of the house by his forearm and they were in Minho's car on their way to their apartment.

Their apartment was a couple of minute's ride from Jake's house. As Felix opens the door Minho walks in hastily.

"What are you doing?" Felix asks as he looks at his roommate fixing the curtains.

"Do you remember the first time you met me?"

"I- no?"

"Of course, you don't," Minho sighs, "I was closing the curtains and windows. If those are closed you must be safe, since the door's closed either way."

Minho continues his explanation as he sees the look of pure confusion on Felix's face, "Have you ever heard or read a story about vampires?"

"Yes, of course. They've been told to us as long as I can remember," the blonde answers.

"Good. Well everyone thinks it's like a stupid made-up thing, but vampires really can't get into one's house without being invited."

Felix is taken a little aback by this. No one ever used that word so casually. It rolled over the older's mouth. Back in his old pack, no one called them that, they had all kinds of words they'd use, but never that.

"So...we're the same?" He says after a while. Almost inaudible.

"Who's the same?" Minho asks, "I doubt anyone's the same as you," he mutters.

Felix looks up, almost mad, "He told you? He motherfucking told you didn't he?"

"Whoa whoa, who told me what? What's up with you werewolves getting randomly so fucking mad? Or is it just a Felix-Jisung thing?"

"Yeah man, such a bummer that we're not heartless as you guys are. I'm sorry if you didn't know, but we're known for having magnified feelings."

"Oh my god, the fuck happened? Why you all worked up out of nowhere?"

"Ji told you?"

Now it was Minho's turn to be confused, "Told me what?"

"That I'm...that I don't really fit in either world."

"You mean that you fit in both worlds?"

"I do not!"

"That's actually exactly what you do.

But if you were wondering if Jisung told me about the fact that you're a hybrid, you should have straight up asked. Because the answer's no. Don't worry."

"He didn't?"

"I know right? I mean I get this whole best friend thing but why wouldn't someone tell such a thing to their mate."

"Then who told you?"

Felix noticed how Minho slightly looked away and sat down afterwards, "Changbin, of course. He said we were the same and stuff. No matter how much I love that boy, he's wrong. He's been hurting you just because he can't stand the fact that you're more powerful. That he doesn't have the upper hand for once. That's why...you know...I did what I did. He should know the value of a mate."

Felix sighs and sits down next to the older one, "I'm sorry. For getting mad and stuff, it's not really something I can control all the time."

"It's okay, don't worry."

"And ehm...when I asked if we were the same, I didn't mean you and me."

"Oh?"

"I was talking about Ji and me," and after taking a breath he looks down at his fidgeting hands and adds, "You're also one, aren't you?"

Minho leans back, looking at the blonde boy, "Yes, yes I am."

"How is it?"

"Being a vampire? I don't know, it's pretty much become my normal lifestyle for the last couple of years."

"Wait, you're turned?" Felix asks in shock.

"Yes," Minho sighs, "Wow, no one ever asked me that. Everyone knew or didn't. And Jisung didn't care."

"So you guys are the same."

"Yeah, I mean, kind of?"

"But ehm, that's not what I meant. How is it? Like, the whole mating thing?" Minho looks at Felix as if he's trying his hardest not to laugh. "What is it? What's funny?"

"You want to talk with me about mating? Shouldn't you ask your bestie?"

Felix shakes his head, "Ew, no no nO. That's not what I meant. You can keep that to yourself. I meant being mated to someone, how does it feel?"

"You sure you don't want to know that other thing?" Minho jokes.

"I'm almost happy you never talked."

"Auch."

"I'm serious, though, hyung. Like, y'all have been mated for two weeks, two whole fucking weeks. And Jisung didn't act any different. Sure, there was something in the way he looked at you. And there was his heartbeat getting louder and faster when you were around. But that had been happening ever since we moved in here. It's just him being in love."

Felix could see Minho's cheeks heating up and hear his heartbeat getting faster too. "Wow. You both are whipped."
