The very beginning. Part 2/2

"What do you mean, it's my fault? That's preposterous! I've quit. Whatever happened afterwards has absolutely nothing to do with me." Indignant shout broke the perfect silence. Surrounding the pair was white, eternal void which trembled weirdly with each sound.

"No, no, no. If you didn't quit this horrible expansion pack called 'Battle among stars' would never have existed. Ergo, it's your fault for me losing thirty hours of my time. Thirty terrifying hours, I might add." The person who responded back was rather strange. Almost everything about her screamed 'Cute'. Pouty rosy cheeks, big sparkling blue eyes, long wavy blond hair. She was epitome of childish cuteness. Except for two things. Her serious expression causing even adult male across her to shiver. And a black t-shirt with a slogan 'Practice Safe Sex - Go Fuck Yourself'. A weird child.

"Aren't you supposed to be a supreme goddess or something like that? Why the hell would you care about thirty measly hours?!"

"Not supposed to be. I am a Supreme Goddess. And I don't like your tone. AND it's not only my time. I also lost two thousand euro on premium content. That I never received!"

"There was never any premium content this expensive! You were swindled! It's even less my fault! Besides, which goddess lets herself get swindled by a mortal?"

She fell silent. Apparently she was unable to come up with a retort, so she took a moment to think about it. Meanwhile the man forcefully brought here was also deep in thought. Although the situation was a bit ridiculous, he didn't doubt the truth of it. The moment the small girl declared her identity, his entire being started trembled as if suppressed by something unbelievably great. As if his existence could be blown away like a flame of a candle at the slightest whim of her. So he decided to stop shouting temporarily, and clarify the situation a little bit.

"So is there anyone else you brought here? Like the rest of the people who quit, or the new team? Who by the way I still state are clearly more at fault for your Terrible Situation" Let's see if I can shift a blame here.

"What? Oh, no. I didn't manage to before the rest of the gods butted in and forbid me from intervening into mortal world anymore…"

 Wait, wait, what?!

"They intervened in their case but not in mine?! What the hell is this difference in treatment here?!"

"Well, when they realized what's happening, the deed was already done. So there was not much they could do. And besides I told them that you agreed."

The man gawked at her with disbelief. There were so much things wrong with this statement. But one thing stood out as particularly suspicious.

 "Agreed to what, exactly?"

"Oh, right. I almost forgot. Since it's your fault that I was rid of my entertainment, I will throw you into the very world you created, and you will serve as my new source of entertainment." Here she gave strangely alluring smile, that would turn even strongest men into a lolicon. "If I give you basic lifespan of three hundred years, that should make up for my lost thirty hours."

It was like a punch in the face. Whether the information that the world of 'Secrets of Origin' actually existis, or realization that this goddess was even more irrational than he initially assumed. All of it was a powerful blow to his belief system. He didn't want to become a star of some weird soap opera. Especially in the world that was purposefully created just to be thrown into quagmire of problems. He started to feel desperate.

"But aren't you supposed not to intervene in mortal world? What about it??

"Killing you for my personal reasons, may be criticized by others; however transporting you into this world, with a little effort, may be viewed as sticking to our godly mission. Or with a lot of effort." The last part she murmured almost inaudibly, however her conversation partner still managed to catch it. Yet before he managed to comment on it, she waved her hand dismissively, indicating that this topic is over. "Although it may not seem like it, I am actually very busy person. Discussing the goal of the all of the existence is something that we have no time for. So if you have any more questions, ask them now."

"I don't want to reincarnate. And especially not into 'Sage's Land' " 'Sage's Land' was how the astral beings living throughout the universe dubbed the main world, which was the stage for events of 'Secrets of Origin'.

"Why? In the interview, you gave before you've quit, you've said that your greatest passion is to see the beauty of the world. Cheesy line, but whatever. The world which you helped to create is even more spectacular than Earth, which you humans honestly didn't leave in a very good shape"

"That is besides the point! How am I supposed to enjoy the world which tries to kill me at the every step of the way?"

"Don't you know almost everything about this world, and how to get strong? Be creative. And I may lend a helping hand from time to time. You know, to push action forward" Here she smiled mischievously, as if she couldn't wait.

"Cannot you just wait for the new update of the game? I have actually very high hopes for the new team. You don't have so unreasonable here!"

"Your opinion doesn't matter here. And there will not be a new update. Shortly after your funeral, developers gave a statement, saying that they will stop working on a new update. There is a chance for card game based on the universe, but the team will focus on a new brand."

"Those morons… Work with me here a little…"

Silence befell the pair. None of the them spoke, deep in their own thoughts. The two of them knew without saying it, that after the goddess stated her desire there was no changing it back. The argument was held mostly for the sake of the male's psyche, who needed some tranzit between two lives to offset the huge trauma of being killed and then being reborn.

"By the way what do you mean 'push action forward'?"

"I'll leave it to your imagination. After all games are supposed to be interactive. And…"

The white void trembled as if to hurry the pair. The conversation was over.

The child-goddess clapped her hands with excitement. She was looking forward to it a lot.

"Alright. Since everything is clear let's get going!"

 "I…"

"No more speaking! We will meet each other again. We can chat more then. Now off you go!"

Male's silhouette was suddenly covered in ethereal golden mist, which started to erase every trace of him being there. When he tried to open his mouth he realized that he can't emit any more sounds. Goddess seeing that smiled lightly.

"Remember. I don't want a repeat of events from the 'Battle among Stars'. Or there will be consequences." Then she grinned and with visible amusement she told to the reluctant reincarnator, whose face floating amidst the golden mist was the only thing left. " Oh, and from now on, you just can call me Ana. Please take care of me."

Her loud and obnoxious laugh was the last thing he heard before he disappeared with a terrifying suspicion on his mind.

Ana was the name of a girl he slept with, the night before he died.
