When Sirin opened his eyes again he immediately looked around if he saw Amanda.
To his relief she had made it here, she as well as Spot and her child were passed out, but they were safe.
He smiled as he looked at the circle engraved in the wall. He had really made the right choice by leaving that here. since he had Hendrik in this world as an anker he didn't have to make another deal and so he could properly look after the mortals that came with him.
He was quite disappointed that his warlock wasn't here at the moment but judging from the kindling fire that lit the cave, he would be back soon.
After he placed Amanda along with her child in a chair close to the fire he sat down in front of the entrance. He didn't have much to do, but honestly, he was also quite tired, so he just stared at the distance.
While doing so he noticed a faint pain between his horns and his ears. It was quite bothersome but there didn't seem to be any blood. Just a small bump on each side of his head. Since it was so symmetrical and close to his horns, he figured that he was most likely growing a new set.
He sighed and accepted that he just had to endure it.
After a short while he saw a familiar figure approaching on the beach. From the fairly stable state of Amanda and her child he deduced that he could afford to greet his friend.
He jumped out of the cave and flew over to the human and the smaller companion that was walking just behind him.
Sirin landed on a rock close by and clumsily flapped his wings to keep his balance on the slippery stone.
"Hello there, bipedal mammal. Did you miss me? Admit it you've missed me."
Henrik looked up at the pale demon in shock. "You're back? why are you back so early? Did something happen?"
Sirin shrugged. "Yea I freed some people from a curse and now it was dangerous for them to stay in hell. maybe we will hop over to some other worlds later, but I figured this was our best option for now."
He let himself glide off the rock and now kneeled down in front of the smaller human that Hendrik had taken with him. "May I ask who this is?" He asked as he saw the little girl shy away behind Hendrik.
"This is Emilia. Her mother was accused of making a deal with a vile spirit and burned, I could just barely save her."
Sirin could barely suppress his laughter. "So, she got in trouble for the slight possibility that her mother had made a deal with a spirit, and so you thought that she would be safe with someone who made a deal with a demon?"
"Well, at least I actually made the deal. So, you can help us out."
The little girl was now clutching Hendrik's robe while her lip was trembling, and her face was red.
"I'm not sure in which way you want me to help. But, if possible, I will." The demon spoke while he wiped the tears away from the face of the girl with his tail.
Together they made their way back to the cave. Here the girl curled up close to the fire until she fell asleep whilst sobbing.
While she did so Hendrik took a look at the people that Sirin had brought with him. He was stunned to see Amanda and questioning Sirin about the pieces wood that were still sticking out of her. So, Sirin had to awkwardly explain how he met her when he had just hatched and how she was probably the reason he survived his most vulnerable days.
Hendrik smirked. "So, what? She is basically your adopted mother?" He jokingly said.
Sirin looked away as he felt that he was starting to blush. Witch looked rather odd with his pale face and black blood. "I… I don't know. I mean, she is the only creature that is weaker than me that I have respect for."
"Then why don't you just ask her?"
Sirin shrugged. "I'm not even sure if I am supposed to have a parental figure. I never happened to see my parents, but usually demons are born in a nest guarded by three female demons. There 'mothers' only protect us from adults looking for an easy snack and let us just kill each other so only the strong leave the nest. After that we are lucky if we never see our parents again because meeting an older, and thus stronger demon is never a good thing."
"Oh, I'm sorry." Hendrik commented.
"Don't be, the only thing about my birth that I'm not happy with is that I never got to know what my parents looked like. Though its mainly because I've never seen another feathered, white demon before. However, recently I have seen another creature that bore some uncanny resemblance with me. So, I might look more into that."
Hendrik looked up at Sirin. "Then what kind of creature was that?"
"An angel.'
