Grey was strolling through the academy walls, looking at the screen in the corner of his vision. On it was his timetable, and a map of the school grounds. 'Oh, so it had this function.'
He thought back to 10 minutes ago, when Elijah was giving his speech. It was your average speech about getting along with both classmates and seniors. Grey didn't give it much mind, but it was his friend speaking, so he listened intently.
Grey abruptly stopped, for the map showed that he had arrived at his stop. It was his classroom for the year, and the most important room in the school, for Grey at least. 'Here, we're all connected. I have to make a good impression to get more friends.'
He entered the room, and saw that it was empty. It was a white square, with separate desks laid out neatly. It could hold 50 students, so there must have been 80 classes for his year alone. There was a space laid out at the front of the class where Grey presumed the teacher would be. He could also spot a projector in the ceiling. 'Holograms here too.'
Grey had done research on fitting in, as he promised himself to, so he knew what to do. He strode across the room, and seated himself in the farthest corner. 'Cool kids sit at the back.'
He laid down, strewn across the desk, preparing to get a nap. Students had been given half an hour to go back to their dorms to get what they needed to record their lessons, but Grey didn't need any of that. He had a perfect memory, after all.
After a solid 5 minutes, the door opened again. In walked a girl with black hair and orange eyes. The tips of her hair were green; a Wind affinity. She had long, pointed ears that marked her as an elf, and her hair was long and wavy. Her skin was white and smooth like silk; there were no blemishes. Her face was cute, and her nose was button shaped. She threw him a glance, and then her eyes left him, showing no emotion.
Upon seeing her, Grey had a certain, male 'reaction', yet aside from the motion, he also felt something else. A slight heat.
'Hm, this is strange. Fallen Star, I know what a boner is, but what feeling is this? It's never accompanied one in the past.'
- Grey, you're horny. You are a teenager. I'm surprised this is your first time. Most teens are terrible at emotional control… Then again, you aren't most people. - It said.
'Horny, huh? Well, I quite like this feeling. Too bad, it will go away soon.' Just as Grey said, the horniness he felt dissipated, lasting only 5 seconds.
'Damn demon side.' Grey had discovered that after 5 years old, he had developed another aspect of demons. Emotional control. He would no longer feel most emotions after 5 seconds. The only emotions that had ever bypassed this were familial love, and the thrill of a fight. Recurring feelings sort of counted as bypassing it, as they lasted 5 seconds and then came back only to last 5 seconds again.
The girl sat on the other side of the room, at the back row. She stayed silent the whole time, so Grey tried to initiate conversation.
"Hello, I'm Grey, human, 17. I have Light affinity. Do you want to be my friend?" Grey went with a direct approach as, so far, it had always worked. What Grey didn't know was that it wasn't an effective route with women, as he hadn't made a female friend.
"Aurora Novis, Wind affinity." She replied, keeping it nice and short. There was no response to Grey's question, so he left the answer blank. 'Eventually.'
"May I ask why you have nothing to write with?" Grey tried to keep the conversation afloat, and luckily, her response allowed him to.
"I'm using the camera on our bracelet. I'm surprised no-one else is."
"I see, well, that's one option." Grey said.
"Why are you here, then, if you're not using it?" She asked, intrigued about the boy she was talking to.
"Oh, well, I have a perfect memory, so I don't need it."
"Cool." The girl was emotionless throughout the entire discussion, and after she spoke, she turned away, marking the end of the discussion.

/ A few minutes earlier /
A girl walked through the corridor, searching for her class. The school had given them half an hour to gather the necessary instruments to learn, yet they already had the bracelet. What more could they require?
'I bet this is a test.'
She finally stumbled upon her classroom, the pinging of the map screen the indicator that she had arrived. Opening the door, she scanned the room. It was rather plain, but the view was nice.
In the farthest corner sat a boy, who was looking at her with red eyes. His silver hair glistened with the sunlight, and his face was extremely handsome.
'Who's this hottie?' Her gaze rested on him for no more than a second, before she walked to the other corner of the room. 'Got to keep my aloof image. Boys love an Ice Queen, after all.'
She rested on the desk, turned away from the boy. 'Can't look or I'll blush.'
"Hello, I'm Grey, human, 17. I have Light affinity. Do you want to be my friend?" He suddenly spoke, bringing her out of her stupor.
"Aurora Novis, Wind affinity." She replied. 'Nice and short, keep it distant. But, oh my, his voice is so heavenly.'
Grey's voice sounded like a lullaby, like soft raindrops on a window. It was soothing and alluring, and she wanted to hear more of it. But she couldn't, she had to stay as she was.
Grey spoke again, asking another question. "May I ask why you have nothing to write with?"
'Damn, that voice! Wait, no, don't blush. Don't look him in the eye, either.' She kept her vision away from Grey, and answered. Wasn't it common sense that they were meant to use the bracelet? 'Maybe he's a little slow?'
She decided to ask him what he was going to use, and the response soothed her. 'A perfect memory, huh. That is almost always accompanied by a high IQ. Good… Wait, why is that good?'
Aurora quickly turned away before Grey could see her blush. Silence came back to the room, enveloping the two. 'What do I say now? Do I keep silent? Yeah, right, let's stay silent. You are an Ice Queen, Aurora.' She repeated her mantra a couple of times, calming herself down.
However, not even a minute later, 'When is the teacher coming!! I'm dying here!'
Luckily for her, the teacher entered just then. Grey suddenly sat straight and attentively, drawing her sight to him and eliciting another, quickly hidden, blush.
"What the fuck! Where is everyone!?" A deep male voice resounded. "They have their bracelet, don't they? You two, I'm glad you've got your shit together."
Aurora looked at the teacher and found a short male with a large beard. He had black hair and red tips; a Fire user. It was a dwarf, a stocky species that never went taller than 3'3''. They always grew rather large muscles, and had big noses. It wasn't a stereotype, either; they all did.
"We'll wait for everyone, then I'm going to yell!" After that statement, the teacher refrained from speaking, drowning the room in silence again.
The next 10 minutes went by slowly, the ticking clock the only constant other than silence. It was then that the door burst open, and a stream of students entered. At the forefront was a group of girls who made their way to Aurora, and at the back was a group of boys. All four of them went to Grey.
---
"Yo! Grey, come say hi! This is Blake!" Var called out to Grey, but he remained seated, giving them a wave. Elijah sat in front of him and Var sat on his right, and they began to chat.
They introduced him to the boy, a half elf who had an Earth affinity. He had red hair, and yellow eyes. Before they could continue chatting, however, the dwarf at the front of the room bellowed.
"RIGHT, YOU LOT! STOP TALKING IN MY CLASS!" The students immediately shut up, too afraid to continue.
"WHAT THE FUCK TOOK YOU SO LONG! YOU HAVE THE BRACELET, DO YOU NOT?"
Everyone turned to look at each other, confused, barring Grey and Aurora, who knew what he meant.
"WHAT?!" The dwarf took a deep breath before continuing.
"Right, let's sort this shit out first. Everyone take your bracelet off your wrist, tap on it and then place it in front of your eyes." All the students followed, except Grey and Aurora, of course, but each of them had a baffled look etched on their face.
'Weren't they just bracelets? There's not even a screen, and it's all a stretchy, black material.' They all thought in unison.
A bright white light flashed, and the first person to finish the dwarf's instructions suddenly yelped, attracting the room's attention.
"AARGH!"
"Good lad!" The dwarf laughed.
"Oh my, what the hell happened?" A girl in the front asked. Everyone had frozen at this point, reluctant to follow out the dwarf's orders.
"You lot, do what I was saying, so we can start the class!" He shouted, snapping the class back to focus.
Many people seemed reluctant after the scream, but they went along anyway. It was better going blind than disrespecting the teacher.
A flash of white lights followed, accompanied by a symphony of screams. The dwarf smiled sadistically at the scene, but quickly wiped the grin off his face.
Grey looked at the students with a hint of sympathy. He, too, had gone through their pain, but he knew that they would be happy after.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS!" The student who finished first suddenly jumped out of his chair, making the dwarf erupt in laughter.
"That is the Academy's bracelet, you dumbass!"
Say hello the the FL everyone!
I wanted her to have a name that began with AM like all good FLs, but Amanda and Amelia were taken, so, we have Aurora.
She's a bit of a silly girl, so I hope I can portray her well.
Criticism is always welcome, so lay it on me!
P.S From now on, I'm using ft. in. for people height, m for height/distance. I know I should stick to one, but I'm the author so...
