Facing the Consequences

"What are you doing here?" I whispered to Siever, who was sitting right there on the edge of my bed looking quite elegant.

"How so? I did not say I was leaving!" His expression made it seem obvious.

"How did you get into my room without being seen?" I asked resignedly and sat down in bed too. Siever raised one eyebrow, as if the answer were also obvious. "Magic? Right... right…" I waved at him wondering how he could think it so insignificant. I looked outside thru the window. Mom's vehicle had already left the garage. There was no one else in the house. I sadly leaned my head on the window and cried.

After a while, Siever began to mock me. I could only be shocked at his tactless, but he went further. When he finally stopped laughing, he said with amused air:

"You know... you're so pathetic!"

I could only let my jaw drop. I was so perplexed that I stopped crying, but he still continued:

"I was really wondering what kind of person you really are. You turned out to be very weak and pathetic."

"That's no way to talk to someone who you barely know!" I complained offended.

"Not my fault... it's the truth"

"YOU HAVE JUST TOLD ME THAT I WILL DIE IN A FEW DAYS! YOU HAD NO TRACE OF EMPATHY OF DELICACY OR TOUCH!" I did not stop until it exploded suddenly, turning all the fear and anguish I had in anger "MY LIFE HAS BEEN PLAYED AS A TOY IN THE HANDS OF A NUT AND A SADDIC, AND YOU SAY THAT I AM THANK YOU TO CHARGE THE BURDEN OF THAT.... THAT.... THAT THING! WHY? CAUSE AM I THE PREDECESSOR GUARDIAN'S INCARNATION? I AM NOT OTHER PERSON, OK? I'M SORRY IF I'M PATHETIC, BUT DON'T YOU THINK YOU'RE ASKING FOR TOO MUCH OF ME TO ACCEPT ALL THAT QUIETLY?

When I finished yelling, I was panting. Siever had heard everything without moving a finger. The rosy expression still on his face. So I just got more angry.

"Oh.... finally something interesting!" he said as he stood up too. "I really thought you would accept all of this quietly!"

I trembled with anger, but did not know what to say, how to contest or even if I needed or wanted to contest, then he continued:

"Since you showed up there, you did not really stand against what was happening to you. I saw a stranger invading my room, and strangled you until you lost consciousness! I might even have killed you if I was a little more sleepy, and you still accepted me by your side calmly after that. You were tortured and condemned to a sudden, cold and painful death, you were received with animosity at home and yet the last straw was you been called pathetic?"

I heard Siever's words and found them cruel. What could I have done? How could I have avoided any of the things that had happened to me? What good would it be to complain if nothing could be changed?

I was overcome with rage, so I lost the possession of my arms and, with clenched fists, began to strike Siever, who did not bother dodge.

"#sshole…" a punch "bastard" then two.... ten... I had already lost my mind, my breath and my repertoire of insults when I finally stopped "I hadn't had a bad life…" the tears flowed again. I was frustrated and angry and this time I turned my face to hide them "The things are getting worse because of you did to me. I did not want to die... I do not want to die!"

"So I will not let you die!" he said.

"How so?" I could only feel so sure in his voice.

"I'm really very smart, you know", there was not a single trace of modesty in his face, but he did not seem to be talking about it just to boast himself. "As long as I can study, I will learn more and more things. I did not become a revolutionary physician and re-invented the bioengineering out of nothing. "So I understood where he wanted to go." As long as you want to live, I can help you become strong enough to surpass this tribulation. As long as you want, I'll do everything I can to help..."

He showed me a friendly and sympathetic smile this time, so I could not help but feel better.

"Thanks." I wiped away a few tears that had run down my on face, but before I give up I still shoved my fist into his arm. "You better be serious!"

"Ouch!" Siever rubbed his arm and laughed again. "Much better... no? What do you do in this land?" ― He went to the door and moved the knob, but it was locked.

Usually, I would be at school at this time." I threw myself back on my bed and I answered annoyed "but even if I had not been locked in here because I went to the other side of the galaxy without permission, I was expelled from there cause I knocked a "colleague" in his face... How did you get in here, anyway?"

"I just walked in…" Siever put both hands on the door handle and somehow I could not see, he unlocked it "Let's take a look at your house!"

Siever went out my room, and I ran after him. Again, he did not bother to explain his "tricks" to me. Taking advantage of the vague freedom, I prepared a cup of coffee for us. Then I washed and stored everything just as it was before, to cover up the clues. I did not want to think about what my mother would do when she got back. "When I get back, we'll talk." This seemed pretty much like a threat... and it certainly was. But Siever turned out to be a pleasant, reassuring company. He was interested in every little "exotic" thing in the house, like the different kitchen gadgets, and distracted me until the time we needed to get back to the bedroom.

'Where are you going?" I asked, as I entered my room and he stood outside, ready to use his secret trick to relock the door.

"Your mother does not seem to be the type who will be happy to come and see me here. I need to sort out some things, so I'll go for today. Hold on, and do not leave the house until I come back." he spoke with a serious tone to the second part.

"I do not think I'll have much choice..." He nodded and closed the door. "I can't get rid of you now, can I?"

"I think now on this will be a bit difficult" he said, locking the door, and by the sudden wave of coldness that descended on me, I guessed that he would be no longer around.

Mom just came home from work after that. I heard her footsteps walking her to her own room, then to the kitchen, back to the bedroom. Finally, almost an hour later, she came to see me. She had an envelope in his hand.

"What is actually your problem, anyway?" She asked seriously, hissing every word, with pure rage.

"I do not know what you want me to answer!" In fact, I was confused, waiting in bed, hugging my own knees trying to keep some warmth. But I did not express any sentiment in my words.

"Where have you been? What are these clothes? Do you have any idea of my concern? The results of the psychiatric exams are gone. All... ALL negative!" Mom shook the envelope in the air, took out the papers with the results, and then threw them all in my direction "It seems that we are back to the beginning, where the only explanation we have for your misbehavior is your immorality! What is your goal after all? Call attention? Conquer the disrespect of everyone? Make me look bad?

"I don't have anything to say about it." I still kept myself in the same position, looking without emotion to my own knees. I did not have a better answer to give anyway "If I tell you the truth, you'll think I lie, and you'll end up getting angrier. But if I really look for a reasonable lie to be true, it will not have a much better result. Whatever my explanation be, it will not be good enough, and you'll still gonna fight me, so I can not give any."

I guessed that those words would be enough to make mother completely furious. But I really could not think of a better answer. Even giving an answer must have seemed as badmouth and a lack of respect.

"I do not know what else to do! We were lucky not to file a complaint in the hospital after all that destruction ... You leave me no choice! You are a bad influence on your brother and your cousins. My sisters no longer want me to approach their children, your actions gave me a bad name as well."

I felt my stomach sink after hear it. Each of these words made me extremely tired. I sighed and looked up at her. But my expression was without a trace of sadness, cause I was full with anger. As always, did not seem to occur to her the idea that I had a real problem, but that if I would cause problems for her.

"Get out! Go to lunch and then clean the kitchen. I'll think about what to do next, when things calm down. Come on!"

I could only get up and move to the door. I really felt, as Siever had said, pathetic. But there was no sense in seeking conflict by giving justifications that would haveno purpose. Arriving in the kitchen, Mom had buy lunch from outside, as usual. There was no need to waste time cooking. I took the plate eat, but for a second, I lost my grip on my fingers. Then the dish slipped from my hands and crashed to the floor. I was completely numb. I only knew that when Mom arrived in the kitchen full with complaints, I was already down on the floor, unconscious.
