Chapter 54

I clutched the crown tightly, my heart pounding as the chaos erupted around me. Silas Ramsbottom and his Anti-Villain League agents were closing in, while Scarlet Overkill continued her relentless assault. I had to act fast if I wanted to protect the minions and escape this situation.

"Kevin, Bob, Stuart!" I shouted, my voice barely audible over the sounds of the battle. "I need you to handle the AVL agents. I'll take care of Scarlet."

The minions looked up at me, their eyes wide with fear, but they nodded in understanding. Quickly, they scurried off, dodging the energy blasts and projectiles as they made their way towards Silas and his team.

Turning my attention back to Scarlet, I braced myself for her next attack. She was a formidable opponent, her robotic limbs and advanced weaponry making her a challenging foe. But I had my ghostly powers on my side, and I was determined to come out on top.

Scarlet let out a menacing laugh as she advanced towards me, her eyes gleaming with malice. "You really think you can beat me, Phantom Spider?" she taunted. "I am the greatest villain of all time, and that crown will be mine!"

I didn't dignify her words with a response. Instead, I focused on evading her attacks, my body moving with fluid grace as I phased through the energy beams and projectiles. I retaliated with my own ghostly powers, firing webs to ensnare her robotic limbs and disrupt her balance.

Scarlet growled in frustration as she struggled to break free from my webbing. "You'll pay for this, Phantom Spider!" she snarled, her voice dripping with venom.

I didn't let her words rattle me. Instead, I used her momentary distraction to my advantage, unleashing a powerful ghostly blast that sent her reeling. She stumbled, her robotic limbs faltering, and I seized the opportunity to close the distance between us.

As Scarlet recovered, I stood before her, the crown still clutched tightly in my hand. "This crown belongs to us," I declared, my voice firm and unwavering. "And I won't let you take it."

Scarlet's eyes narrowed, and I could see the fury burning within them.

I gripped the crown tightly as I stared down Scarlet Overkill. Her robotic limbs and advanced weaponry made her a formidable foe, but I wasn't about to let her take what was rightfully ours.

Without warning, I fired a barrage of ghostly webbing, pinning her rocket dress to the floor. Before she could react, I leapt towards her, my fists clenched.

"You won't hit a woman, will you?" Scarlet sneered, her voice dripping with false innocence.

I narrowed my eyes, unfazed by her taunt. "I'm a man who preaches gender equality," I retorted, and then I unleashed a flurry of punches.

My fists collided with Scarlet's face, each blow landing with a satisfying thud. She grunted in pain, her robotic limbs struggling to break free from the webbing that held her in place.

"You'll pay for this, Phantom Spider!" she spat, her voice laced with fury.

I didn't let up, continuing to pummel her with every ounce of strength I could muster. Scarlet's arrogance had blinded her, and now she was paying the price.

I felt a tingle in the back of my neck just as Scarlet raised her strange-looking gun. My spider-sense had warned me, and I leapt out of the way just in time as a torrent of molten lava spewed forth from the weapon.

The lava sizzled and hissed as it struck the ground where I had been standing mere seconds ago. Scarlet's eyes narrowed in frustration, and she let out a growl of anger.

"You're a slippery one, Phantom Spider," she snarled. "But let's see how you handle this!"

With a dramatic flourish, Scarlet pressed a button on her wrist, and a massive rocket erupted from the ground behind her. The rocket towered over us, its warhead glinting menacingly in the light.

My eyes widened as I realized the true danger. If that rocket detonated, it could level the entire castle. I couldn't let that happen.

Without hesitation, I leapt into the air, my ghostly powers propelling me towards the rocket. I extended my hands, catching the massive projectile and straining to hold it in place.

The rocket's engines roared, the heat searing my palms, but I refused to let go. I had to stop this, no matter the cost.

I gritted my teeth, the strain of holding back the massive rocket overwhelming my senses. Scarlet Overkill's laughter echoed through the grand hall as she mocked me.

"That's right, Phantom Spider," she sneered, her voice dripping with malice. "Hold back that rocket as long as you can. I can't wait to see your burnt corpse after it detonates!"

With a wicked grin, Scarlet turned and fired up her rocket-powered dress, soaring away to safety. I couldn't let her escape, not with the fate of the castle and everyone inside hanging in the balance.

Summoning every ounce of my ghostly strength, I shot a web from my wrist, the sticky strands latching onto Scarlet's dress. The rocket's engines roared, pulling me and the explosive projectile along with her as she fled.

"What?!" Scarlet cried, her eyes widening in shock as she realized what I had done. "No, no, no! Get off me, you meddlesome fool!"

She tried to shake me off, but my grip was unyielding. The rocket's deafening rumble filled the air as we careened through the castle's corridors, narrowly avoiding collisions with the ornate decor.

My heart pounded in my chest as I struggled to maintain control, knowing that one wrong move could spell disaster for us all. I had to find a way to stop this rocket and prevent Scarlet from escaping with the Crown Jewels.

As we burst through a window and into the sky, I knew I had to act quickly. With a deep breath, I began to channel my ghostly powers, focusing on the rocket's internal mechanisms. If I could disrupt the guidance system or the fuel supply, maybe I could force it to detonate safely away from the castle.

Scarlet's eyes widened in horror as she realized what I was doing. "No, you fool!" she screamed, her voice laced with panic. "Let go of me this instant!"

But I refused to yield, my determination fueling my actions. I had to stop Scarlet and save the day, no matter the cost.

I gritted my teeth as I channeled my ghostly powers into the rocket's internal mechanisms. Sparks flew and the engine sputtered, but the rocket continued to soar higher into the sky, Scarlet Overkill still clinging to the exterior.

"No, no, no!" Scarlet screamed, her voice laced with panic. "What have you done, you fool?"

I didn't have time to respond. I had to act fast before the rocket reached its apex and came crashing back down. Focusing all my energy, I lashed out with a powerful ghostly blast, striking the rocket's guidance systems. The projectile began to veer off course, spiraling wildly through the air.

Scarlet's eyes went wide with terror as she realized her peril. "You'll pay for this, Phantom Spider!" she shrieked, her robotic limbs flailing as she struggled to maintain control.

I didn't relent, continuing to bombard the rocket with ghostly energy. Piece by piece, the rocket's systems began to fail, until finally, the entire structure shuddered and broke apart. Scarlet's rocket dress tore away, leaving her free-falling through the sky.

"Nooo!" Scarlet cried, her voice fading as she plummeted downwards.

Without hesitation, I shot a web from my wrist, the sticky strands latching onto Scarlet's feet. She let out a startled yelp as I reeled her in, catching her in my arms just before she hit the ground.

"This isn't over, Phantom Spider!" Scarlet snarled, her eyes burning with fury. "I'll have my revenge!"

I didn't respond, instead focusing on the massive shockwave that rippled outwards as the rocket exploded high above us. The blast shook the very foundations of the castle, sending debris raining down around us.

Shielding Scarlet with my body, I braced for the impact, my ghostly powers flaring to life to protect us. The shockwave hit with incredible force, but my intangibility allowed me to withstand the assault.

As the dust settled, I lowered Scarlet to the ground, keeping a tight grip on her. She glared at me, her lips curled in a snarl, but I refused to be intimidated.

"It's over, Scarlet," I said, my voice firm. "You've lost."

I looked down at Scarlet Overkill, her furious gaze locked on mine. "It's never over, Phantom Spider!" she snarled, her voice muffled.

Without a word, I webbed her mouth shut, encasing her in a tight web cocoon. She struggled against her bindings, but my ghostly webbing held firm.

A sudden movement caught my eye, and I turned to see the minions - Kevin, Bob, and Stuart - scurrying towards me. A grin spread across my face as I opened my arms, welcoming them into a tight hug.

"You guys did great," I said, pride swelling in my chest. "I couldn't have done it without you."

The minions beamed up at me, their eyes shining with joy and admiration. Turning to Bob, I carefully placed the Crown Jewels atop his head, crowning him the true King of England.

"All hail King Bob!" I proclaimed, my voice ringing out through the castle's grand halls.

The minions erupted into cheers, jumping and dancing around in celebration. I watched them, a sense of warmth and belonging filling my heart. We had done it - we had outwitted Scarlet Overkill and protected the Crown Jewels.
