Chapter 23

Tiona's eyes gleamed with curiosity as she leaned forward, her muscular frame shifting with barely contained excitement. "So, David, how'd you manage to get so deep into the Dungeon when you're just a measly Level 1?" She flashed me a toothy grin. "You must be packing some serious power under that scrawny exterior of yours."

I couldn't help but chuckle at her playful jab. "Let's just say I've got a few tricks up my sleeve." I glanced over at Aiz, who was watching me intently, her amber eyes filled with a calculating interest. "But I'd rather not reveal all my secrets just yet. You'll just have to wait and see when I take on the Goliath."

Tione scoffed, crossing her arms over her ample chest. "You really think you and your little Digimon friend can handle a Monster Rex like Goliath? Don't make me laugh." She shot a skeptical glance at Lunamon, who shrank back slightly under her scrutiny.

Aiz raised a hand, silencing Tione with a subtle gesture. "I'm curious to see what you and Lunamon are capable of, David." Her gaze flickered to the Digimon, a hint of interest in her expression.

Lefiya, who had been quiet up until this point, finally spoke up, her brow furrowed with concern. "But Aiz, he's only a Level 1. Goliath is an incredibly powerful monster - how can he possibly hope to defeat it?"

I met Lefiya's worried gaze with a confident smile. "Don't underestimate us, Lefiya. Lunamon and I have been through a lot together, and we're more than ready for this challenge." I placed a reassuring hand on Lunamon's shoulder, feeling her relax under my touch.

Tiona let out a boisterous laugh, slapping her knee. "Well, now I'm even more excited to see what you've got, David! This is gonna be good."

I nodded, my resolve strengthening. "You better believe it. Lunamon and I are going to show you all what we're made of."

A few hours passed, and the group chatted with each other. Everyone was hungry, and David and Lunamon prepared cup noodles for everyone.

Aiz, Tiona, Tione, and Lefiya saw the cup noodles and wondered what they are because they have not seen them before.

I chuckled as I handed out the steaming cups of instant noodles, the familiar scent wafting through the air. "These are called cup noodles," I explained, my eyes sparkling with excitement. "They're a quick and easy meal that you just add hot water to."

Tiona's eyes widened as she peered into the cup, her nose twitching. "Hot water? How does that make it a meal?"

Lunamon, sitting beside me, smiled warmly. "Just watch," she said, demonstrating how to pour the water and let the noodles steep. "The hot water cooks the noodles and rehydrates the other ingredients inside."

Tione arched a brow, skepticism written across her face. "This seems...rather simple. Are you sure it's edible?"

I grinned, unable to contain my amusement at their bewilderment. "Trust me, it's delicious. Just give it a try."

Aiz, ever the curious one, carefully took a sip of the broth, her expression thoughtful. "Hmm, it's quite flavorful." A small smile tugged at the corners of her lips.

Lefiya, after a moment's hesitation, followed suit, her eyes widening in surprise. "Why, this is quite good! The texture is so soft and comforting."

Tiona and Tione exchanged a glance, then shrugged and dug in, slurping the noodles enthusiastically. "Hey, this isn't bad at all!" Tiona exclaimed between mouthfuls.

I leaned back, watching the Loki Familia members savor the cup noodles with a sense of pride. "I'm glad you all enjoy it. It's one of my favorite quick meals back home."

Aiz looked up, her gaze meeting mine. "Thank you for sharing this with us, David. I'm sorry we had to take your rations."

I waved off Aiz's apology with a casual shrug. "Don't worry about it. I've got plenty more where those came from, and they're pretty cheap back where I'm from." I flashed her a reassuring grin. "I'm just glad you all enjoyed them."

Tiona let out a satisfied sigh, leaning back with a content expression. "Yeah, these cup noodle things really hit the spot. We should stock up on them for our next Dungeon dive."

Tione nodded in agreement, though her brow was still furrowed in a slight frown. "I suppose they aren't a complete waste of time, but I still don't see how they could possibly sustain us in the Dungeon."

I chuckled as Tiona ribbed Tione, who was trying to act all prim and proper after scarfing down her cup noodles. "Looks like someone enjoyed those more than they let on," Tiona teased, elbowing her twin sister playfully.

Tione's cheeks flushed, and she crossed her arms defensively. "I was simply being polite and trying them, unlike you who was practically inhaling them."

"Oh, come on, Tione! Don't be so stuffy. Admit it, you liked them just as much as I did." Tiona grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

I couldn't help but join in the laughter, amused by the sisters' banter. "See, I told you they were good. Even the mighty Amazoness warriors can't resist the power of cup noodles."

The walls started rumbling, and everyone became high alert. Aiz and her friends drew their weapons, but Lefiya looked more frightened. I smiled now that the time had arrived.

From the walls burst through a 9 to 10-meter muscular giant. It had brown skin with black hair reaching to its shoulders. It had red irises and black sclera. It let out a deafening roar when it burst out of the crystal walls.

"Goliath," Aiz stated calmly, her eyes narrowing as she gripped her sword tightly. The rest of the Loki Familia members tensed, ready to spring into action.

My heart raced with excitement as I watched the towering Monster Rex emerge. Lunamon materialized beside me, her eyes reflecting the same determination I felt. "Are you ready for this?" I asked her, a grin spreading across my face.

"I am," Lunamon replied, her voice unwavering. "We'll face Goliath together, David."

Aiz glanced in our direction, her expression unreadable. "Be careful, David," she warned. "Goliath is a formidable foe, even for experienced adventurers."

I nodded, acknowledging her concern. "Don't worry, Aiz. Lunamon and I have been training hard for this moment." I turned to face the Goliath, my ghostly powers coursing through me. "Let's do this."

Lunamon stepped forward, her paws glowing with energy. "Tear Shot!" she called out, unleashing a concentrated sphere of water towards Goliath's face.

I felt the familiar tingle of energy as I transformed into my ghostly alter-ego, the words "Going Ghost!" escaping my lips. A white ring of light appeared at my waist, splitting and traveling up and down my body, enveloping me in a spectral aura. My casual clothes dissolved, replaced by a sleek black and white jumpsuit, a bold 'D' emblazoned on the chest.

As the transformation completed, I could feel the power coursing through me - a heightened sense of awareness, increased strength, and the ability to defy gravity. My eyes glowed with an eerie green light, and a confident smirk spread across my face.

I felt the surge of power coursing through me as I transformed into my ghostly alter-ego. Aiz, Tiona, Tione, and Lefiya stared at me in stunned silence, their eyes wide with a mixture of surprise and confusion.

Tiona's face lit up with a wide grin. "Whoa, David! That's so cool!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with excitement. "I didn't know you could do that!"

I couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction. "There's a lot you don't know about me, Tiona," I replied, my voice taking on a slightly deeper, more resonant tone. "But don't worry, you're about to find out."

I flew up to Goliath's towering height, my ghostly powers allowing me to defy gravity with ease. Channeling my confidence, I shouted taunts at the hulking Monster Rex.

"Hey, you overgrown boulder! Is that the best you've got?" I jeered, my voice echoing through the cavernous chamber. "I've faced scarier things in my nightmares!"

Goliath's beady red eyes narrowed, and it let out a deafening roar that shook the very foundation of the Dungeon. I could feel the vibrations coursing through my spectral form, but I refused to back down.

"That's it? Is that all you've got?" I continued, my lips curling into a mocking grin. "I've heard kittens with more bite than you!"

Enraged by my barrage of insults, Goliath swung its massive fist towards me. I effortlessly dodged the attack, my newfound agility allowing me to dart around the creature with ease.

"Too slow!" I taunted, sticking my tongue out at the Monster Rex.

Summoning my ghostly energy, I fired a concentrated beam of ectoplasmic energy directly at Goliath's face. The ghost ray struck the creature's eye, causing it to roar in pain and frustration.

"How's that feel, huh?" I shouted, reveling in my small victory. "This is just the beginning."

Lunamon watched from the ground, her eyes wide with a mixture of awe and concern. "David, be careful!" she called out, her voice laced with worry.

I glanced down at my faithful Digimon partner and flashed her a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Lunamon. I've got this under control."

Before I knew it, Goliath swatted me away with a powerful backhand, sending me crashing into the wall. The impact knocked the wind out of me, and I crumpled to the ground in a daze.

"Okay, I got a bit too cocky there," I admitted, wincing as I tried to regain my footing.

Lunamon sprung into action, her paws glowing with energy. "Tear Shot!" she cried, unleashing a concentrated sphere of water that struck Goliath square in the face, momentarily blinding the towering beast.

The Monster Rex let out a thunderous roar, its attention now fixed on my Digimon partner. Lunamon stood her ground, determination burning in her eyes.

"Lunar Claw!" she shouted, her claws glowing with a soft, silvery light as she darted forward, slashing at Goliath's vulnerable areas.

I watched in awe as Lunamon deftly dodged the creature's massive fists, her agility and precision keeping her one step ahead of the lumbering Monster Rex. She was putting up a valiant fight, but I knew she couldn't hold out against Goliath's sheer power for long.

Gritting my teeth, I pushed myself up from the ground, my ghostly powers surging within me. I had to help Lunamon, no matter the cost. I couldn't let her face this threat alone.

"Hang on, Lunamon!" I called out, my voice laced with determination. "I'm coming!"

I shot a concentrated beam of icy energy at Goliath's massive hands, hoping to immobilize the towering beast. The attack struck true, encasing its fingers in a thick layer of ice. But to my dismay, Goliath simply swung its hand towards the nearby wall, shattering the ice with brute force.

"Tch, that didn't work," I muttered, gritting my teeth in frustration.

Lunamon continued her relentless assault, her Lunar Claw strikes leaving gashes on Goliath's skin. The Monster Rex roared in pain, swinging its massive fist towards my Digimon partner. I reacted quickly, summoning a ghostly shield to protect Lunamon from the blow.

The impact of Goliath's fist against my ectoplasmic barrier sent shockwaves through the chamber, but Lunamon remained unharmed. She darted back, her eyes filled with concern.

"David, we need to find a way to slow it down!" she called out, her voice laced with urgency.

I wracked my brain, trying to come up with a new strategy. Goliath's regenerative abilities and sheer strength made it a formidable opponent, and my ice attacks had proven ineffective.

"Alright, let's try something else," I said, my mind racing. "Lunamon, distract it with your Tear Shot! I'll try to—"

Before I could finish my sentence, Goliath suddenly charged towards me, its massive form barreling through the air. I barely had time to react, and the creature's fist slammed into the ground where I had been standing just moments ago.

I quickly flew out of the way, my heart pounding in my chest. "Whoa, that was close!" I exclaimed, adrenaline coursing through my veins.

Lunamon continued her assault, her Tear Shots striking Goliath's face and eyes, temporarily blinding the creature. But I knew it was only a matter of time before it adapted to our tactics.

We needed to find a way to turn the tide of this battle, and fast. Goliath was not a foe to be underestimated, and I couldn't afford to make any more mistakes.

Without hesitation, I flew straight at Goliath's massive face, my ghostly fist cocked back. "Take this!" I yelled, slamming my punch directly into the Monster Rex's glowing red eye.

Goliath let out a deafening roar of pain as my strike landed. The towering beast staggered backwards, momentarily off-balance from the impact. I could see the fury burning in its remaining eye as it regained its footing.

"Alright, Lunamon! Now's our chance!" I shouted, positioning myself in front of my Digimon partner.

Goliath reared back, its enormous fist swinging towards me with earth-shaking force. But just as the attack was about to connect, I willed my body to turn intangible, allowing Goliath's massive hand to pass harmlessly through me.

The Monster Rex's attack met only empty air, and it let out a frustrated growl. I rematerialized, floating just out of its reach.

"You'll have to do better than that!" I taunted, feeling a surge of confidence.

Goliath lunged forward, its jaws snapping viciously. I easily dodged the attack, weaving and twisting through the air to evade its powerful strikes.

"Lunamon, now!" I called out, keeping Goliath's attention focused on me.

My Digimon partner sprung into action, firing off a barrage of Tear Shots at the Monster Rex's vulnerable joints and exposed areas. Goliath howled in pain, thrashing about as Lunamon's attacks found their mark.

I could see the creature's movements slowing, its regenerative abilities struggling to keep up with the onslaught. This was our chance to turn the tide of the battle.

"Keep it up, Lunamon!" I encouraged, feeling a surge of adrenaline coursing through my veins. "We've got this!"

Before Lunamon and I could press our advantage, Goliath let out a deafening roar that sent shockwaves rippling through the chamber. The force of the sound waves slammed into us, knocking us back and disrupting our momentum.

"Gah!" I cried out as I was thrown against the cavern wall, the impact knocking the wind out of me. Lunamon tumbled to the ground, dazed by the powerful shockwave.

I watched in dismay as Goliath's wounds began to rapidly heal, the creature's regenerative abilities kicking into overdrive. The gashes and bruises we had inflicted were closing up before my eyes, leaving the Monster Rex looking as formidable as ever.

"No, not now..." I muttered through gritted teeth, struggling to push myself back up. We had been so close to breaking through Goliath's defenses, but now it felt like we were back to square one.

Lunamon let out a pained cry as she tried to regain her footing. I could see the exhaustion etched on her face, and I knew we were both reaching our limits. But I refused to give up, not when we were this close.

I gripped my Digivice tightly, feeling the familiar weight in my hand. "Lunamon, it's time," I said, locking eyes with my partner. She nodded, her expression resolute.

Raising the device, I shouted, "Lunamon! Digivolve!"

Lunamon's form began to glow, the light enveloping her as she started to transform. Her body elongated, her features becoming more defined and agile. Lavender fur gave way to sleek, dark blue skin, and her ears grew longer and more pointed.

"Lunamon Digivolve to—" The light intensified, and I shielded my eyes as Lunamon's evolution reached its climax. "Lekismon!"

When the radiance faded, a new figure stood before me. Lekismon, Lunamon's Champion form, gazed at me with a renewed determination. Her slender frame was clad in silver armor, and a crescent-shaped mask adorned her face, giving her an almost regal appearance.

Lekismon flexed her clawed fingers, the moonlight reflecting off her sharp talons. She turned towards the recovering Goliath, her eyes narrowing with focus.

"Let's do this, Lekismon!" I called out, my voice filled with newfound confidence.

Lekismon nodded, her stance low and ready. She gathered energy in her palms, a shimmering sphere of water forming between her hands.

"Tear Arrow!" she cried, launching the concentrated projectile straight at Goliath's unprotected flank.

The Tear Arrow struck true, piercing Goliath's thick hide and eliciting a thunderous roar of pain from the Monster Rex. Seeing my chance, I flew low to the ground, building up speed and momentum.

"Take this, you oversized brute!" I yelled, launching myself upward with all my might. My fist connected solidly with Goliath's chin in a powerful uppercut, the force of the blow causing the massive creature to stagger back.

Not letting up, I fired a barrage of ghostly energy blasts directly at Goliath's eyes. The searing ecto-rays struck home, causing the Monster Rex to thrash about in agony as it tried to shield its vulnerable face.

"Keep it up, Lekismon!" I shouted, my voice echoing through the cavernous chamber. "Don't let up for a second!"

Lekismon responded with a flurry of precise strikes, her crescent-shaped blades slicing and dancing around Goliath's flailing limbs. The Digimon's agility and coordination were a sight to behold as she expertly evaded the creature's desperate attempts to retaliate.

I continued my aerial assault, darting in and out, raining down ecto-blasts whenever an opening presented itself. Goliath's roars of pain and frustration filled the air as we relentlessly battered the Monster Rex, determined to bring it down.

Goliath, battered and bruised from our relentless assault, let out a deafening roar. In a desperate final gambit, the Monster Rex abandoned all pretense of defense and charged straight at us, its massive fists swinging wildly.

"Look out!" I yelled, darting to the side as Goliath's colossal hand came crashing down, narrowly missing me. The shockwave from the impact sent me tumbling through the air, but I quickly regained my balance.

Lekismon was a blur of motion, her lithe form weaving and twisting to avoid Goliath's savage blows. She countered with a flurry of slashes, her crescent-shaped blades leaving deep gashes in the creature's thick hide.

Seeing an opening, I gathered ectoplasmic energy in my hands and unleashed a powerful Ghost Ray directly into Goliath's face. The searing beam of energy elicited a howl of agony from the Monster Rex, and it staggered back, its movements growing increasingly erratic.

I took a deep, steadying breath, feeling the power of the Ghost Zone coursing through me. Goliath was on its last legs, and I knew it was time to end this once and for all.

"Time to put you out of your misery, big guy," I said, locking eyes with the towering Monster Rex.

Inhaling deeply, I unleashed the full force of my Ghostly Wail. The piercing, sonic blast reverberated through the chamber, assaulting Goliath's senses. The creature thrashed and roared in agony, its massive frame shuddering under the onslaught.

Seizing the opportunity, Lekismon leapt into the air, her crescent-shaped blades glowing with lunar energy.

"Moon Night Kick!" she cried, delivering a devastating strike that struck Goliath's vulnerable underbelly.

The combined power of my Ghostly Wail and Lekismon's relentless assault proved too much for the Monster Rex to withstand. Goliath let out one final, agonizing bellow before its massive form began to disintegrate, leaving behind a giant glowing magic stone.

The chamber fell silent, save for the echoes of our heavy breathing. Lekismon landed gracefully beside me, her eyes shining with pride.

"We did it," I said, a triumphant grin spreading across my face.

I embraced Lekismon, overjoyed at our hard-won victory. "We did it! I can't believe we took down the Goliath!" I exclaimed, my heart racing with adrenaline.

Lekismon beamed up at me, her eyes shining with pride. "It was thanks to your bravery and our teamwork, David. I'm honored to fight by your side."

We pulled apart, and I turned my attention to the massive magic stone that remained after Goliath's defeat. Kneeling down, I ran my fingers over the glowing surface, marveling at its power.

"This must be worth a fortune," I said, my mind already racing with possibilities of what we could do with the earnings. I glanced over at Lekismon, eager to hear her thoughts.

I heard Tiona's hurried footsteps approaching and braced myself for her onslaught of questions. Sure enough, she came barreling towards me, her words tumbling out in a rapid-fire torrent.

"Woah, woah, slow down there!" I said, holding up my hands in a placating gesture. "One question at a time, okay?"

Tiona's eyes were wide with a mixture of curiosity and disbelief as she regarded me and Lunamon. "How did you do that? What kind of magic is that? And what's with the weird rabbit thing?" she asked, the words spilling out in a breathless rush.

I opened my mouth to respond, but Tiona just kept going, her mind seemingly racing faster than her mouth.

"And you actually took down the Goliath? That's insane! You must be crazy strong or something. Are you sure you're just a Level 1?" she rambled, her gaze darting between me and Lunamon.

I tried to interject, to explain my ghostly powers and Lunamon's true nature, but Tiona was on a roll, her enthusiasm and curiosity overriding any chance I had of getting a word in edgewise.

Aiz, Tione, and Lefiya approached, their expressions a mix of awe and disbelief. Tione's eyes were wide, her arms crossed over her chest as she stared at me, baffled.

I looked at her smugly, reveling in our victory. "Told you Lunamon and I could handle it," I said, my voice dripping with triumph.

Tione shook her head in disbelief. "But you're just a Level 1! How in the world did you—" She cut herself off, her mouth hanging open as she struggled to find the words.

I couldn't resist a chuckle. "Looks like you underestimated us, huh?" I replied, a mischievous grin spreading across my face.

Aiz's brow furrowed as she studied me intently, her amber eyes filled with curiosity. "How are you able to fly and use such powerful abilities without incantations?" she asked, her voice calm and measured.

I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride swell within me. Finally, a chance to show off my true abilities. "It's not magic, Aiz," I replied, my voice brimming with confidence. "These are my own unique powers"

I could see the gears turning in Aiz's mind as she processed my words. "Power?" she murmured,

Aiz's eyes widened slightly at my response, a hint of disappointment flashing across her features. "What do you mean? Are these powers not something I could learn?"

I shook my head, a sympathetic smile tugging at my lips. "I'm afraid it's not that simple, Aiz. These powers are unique, they're not the kind of thing you can just pick up, even with your incredible abilities."

I could see the gears turning in her mind as she processed my words. "I see," she murmured, her brow furrowing ever so slightly. "Then how did you come by these abilities?"

I hesitated, unsure of how much I should reveal. "It's...a long story," I admitted, glancing down at Lunamon. "Let's just say Lunamon and I have been through a lot together."

Aiz nodded, her expression thoughtful. "I understand. I'm curious to learn more, but I won't press you if you're not ready to share." She paused, her gaze softening ever so slightly. "I'm glad you were able to defeat the Goliath, David. That's an impressive feat, even for seasoned adventurers."

I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride at her words. "Thanks, Aiz. I couldn't have done it without Lunamon by my side." I reached down, giving my partner's paw a gentle squeeze.

I decided since we had done what we came for, it was time to go back to the surface.

"You all ready to head back up?" I asked, glancing around at Aiz and the others. Aiz nodded, her expression calm and composed as usual.

"Yes, I think that would be wise," she replied. "We've accomplished what we set out to do here."

Tiona let out a disappointed huff. "Aw, I was hoping we'd get to see more of your awesome powers in action, David!" she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

I chuckled and gave her a playful wink. "Don't worry, Tiona. I'm sure there'll be plenty more opportunities to show off in the future."

With that, we began making our way back towards the surface, Lekismon and I leading the way. I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride swelling within me as we left the Dungeon behind, our victory over Goliath a testament to the strength of our partnership.
