Creating My Own Army (on hold)

[Current World: Naruto] This story takes place in an alternate universe (AU) of Earth, where kingdoms still exist. The main character (MC) is the youngest war general due to a conflict with a more powerful kingdom. After dying in battle, the MC is offered a unique opportunity: a job that involves fighting monsters and armies. This position comes with two options—if they accept, they will gain power by going through trials; otherwise, they can choose to ascend to heaven or be reincarnated into their original world once again 1. Please note, this is not a harem story. I attempted to create one in my first fanfiction but struggled to find a plausible way to introduce such dynamics. Additionally, after reading numerous harem stories, while I don’t dislike the concept itself, the justifications provided in those narratives often felt contrived and unconvincing—for example, "He’s so strong, I need sisters," or "He’s the last of his clan, so he needs multiple wives." These reasons simply didn't resonate with me. Therefore, if romance becomes part of this story, it will feature a single pairing rather than a harem setup. Disclaimer: I do not own the Naruto world or any of its characters. My story only includes an original character (OC). Furthermore, I do not claim ownership of the cover picture used for this work. If the rightful owner wishes for it to be removed, please contact me.

starting my new life pt.1(fixed)

Ajamu: "It's an intriguing proposition, Lucis. A chance to explore countless worlds, wield immense power, and protect lives on a scale I could never have imagined… it's tempting. But there's one thing that concerns me."

Lucis: "Oh? And what might that be?"

Ajamu: "You mentioned threats—invading armies, world-devouring monsters, entities capable of destroying entire worlds. These aren't trivial dangers. Even with the powers you're offering, how can I ensure I won't simply meet the same fate as before? Dying once for my king was honorable, but if I take this path and fail in defending these worlds, wouldn't that make me responsible for far greater losses?"

Lucis: "A valid concern, young one. Let me assure you: the power I grant isn't given lightly. You'll possess abilities far beyond anything you've ever encountered or imagined. Moreover, should you fall in battle, your existence will not end entirely. Your essence will return here, where you may choose to either accept reincarnation into another form or remain under my guidance until you're ready to try again. Failure doesn't mean annihilation—it means learning and growing stronger. Think of it as a cycle of improvement rather than finality."

Ajamu: "That does ease some of my worries. Still, there's something else. My family, my king—they depended on me. In dying, I left them behind. If I accept this role, will I still have ties to my original world? Will I be able to visit, to check on those I care about?"

Lucis: "An excellent question. Yes, you will retain the ability to visit your home world, though only during periods when no immediate threats demand your attention. However, keep in mind that time flows differently between worlds. What feels like days or weeks to you might pass as mere moments—or years—in your home world. It's a delicate balance, but one you'll learn to navigate over time."

Ajamu: "I see…" He paused, his gaze drifting toward the shimmering veil behind him. For a moment, he considered walking through it, leaving all responsibility behind. Heaven awaited—a place of peace and rest after a lifetime of struggle. Yet, the thought of exploring new worlds, protecting innocent lives, and wielding unparalleled power stirred something deep within him. Adventure called to him, even as caution whispered in his ear.

Finally, Ajamu straightened, his decision made.

Ajamu: "Very well, Lucis. I accept your offer. But know this: I won't do it solely out of obligation or curiosity. If I'm to become a guardian, I'll do so because I believe in the value of protecting others—not just for myself, but for the countless lives depending on us."

Lucis: "Spoken like a true champion," Lucis replied, his tone approving. "You've chosen wisely, Ajamu. Now, step forward and prepare to receive your gifts. The journey ahead will test you in ways you cannot yet comprehend, but I have faith in your potential. Welcome to the ranks of the Guardians."

As Ajamu stepped closer, the void around him shifted once more. The glowing orbs representing worlds faded, replaced by a radiant light that enveloped him completely. He felt warmth coursing through his body, followed by an overwhelming surge of energy. Memories flooded his mind—not his own, but fragments of knowledge belonging to countless civilizations, techniques, languages, and histories. It was exhilarating, almost overwhelming, yet Ajamu embraced it fully.

When the light finally dimmed, Ajamu stood transformed. His presence radiated authority and strength, his very aura pulsing with newfound power. Before him, Lucis materialized, no longer a disembodied voice but a towering figure clad in golden armor, his eyes blazing with celestial fire.

Lucis: "Rise, Guardian Ajamu. Your first mission awaits. Remember, you are now part of something greater than yourself. Protect, preserve, and persevere. The multiverse depends on warriors like you."

With those words, Lucis extended his hand, summoning a portal that shimmered with otherworldly hues. Beyond it lay Ajamu's first assignment—a world teetering on the brink of destruction, its people unaware of the impending doom.

Ajamu: "Understood," he said firmly, stepping toward the portal without hesitation. As he crossed the threshold, he couldn't help but smile. This was no longer just a burden—it was a calling. And he intended to rise to the occasion.

Epilogue

Back in the mortal realm, the king knelt beside Ajamu's grave, tears streaming down his face. Soldiers and citizens alike mourned the loss of their hero, the man who had sacrificed everything to save them. Yet, unbeknownst to them, Ajamu's story was far from over. Somewhere beyond the veil, he lived on—not as a memory, but as a legend reborn.

And across the multiverse, whispers began to spread of a new Guardian rising to defend the fragile balance of existence. His name would echo through eternity, etched into the stars themselves.
